Waterproof / Breathable GORE-TEX® Fabric Technologies: Construction
Wet fabrics rob your body of warmth. Acting as a water shield, your GORE-TEX® shell allows you to stay dry, regardless of conditions.
Removing moisture from your layering systems also helps keep you dry and comfortable. By allowing sweat to escape, your GORE-TEX® shell reduces overheating and perspiration buildup in your clothes.
In order to use the GORE-TEX® membrane in the manufacture of a finished product, it has to be bonded between high-performance lining and outer textiles.
In a waterproof/breathable garment, stitch holes create the potential for water molecules to enter. For maximum waterproof protection, each stitch is sealed with GORE-SEAM® tape.
Our apparel is manufactured by specialized teams, in certified factories and using patented equipment from Gore.
All GORE-TEX® garments have an ultra-thin treatment called DWR - a durable water repellent polymer - applied to the outermost fabric layer so that water beads up and rolls off rather than soaks in.
