Technical pack excels in alpine search & rescue

I've used this pack for almost 3 years and it's holding up great (technical search and rescue in 4-season alpine environment at 14,000ft/4300m). I can fit enough personal and rescue gear for 3 days on a 14er. There are enough straps to shape your pack and shift weight around the interior making the pack sit close to your back or expand out for the space, enough attachment points for gear (team equipment, axe, trekking poles, snowshoes, skis, crampons, etc), two sleeves in the equipment compartment are built for my avy probe and shovel handle, and 3 large pockets in the brain to store smaller pieces of gear. It's a 50, but I feel it can expand up to 60 if you really want to stuff it. The main compartment is a black hole where I throw all my stuff and it's easy to get to, using the side pocket which opens up the entire bag so you can find stuff at the bottom easily. The most common downside shared by users is a lack of a bladder pouch. I rigged up my bladder with a small carabiner and attached it to the inside of the front equipment compartment, with the hose coming up under the brain and it has worked like this for the last 3 years with no issue. This pack has been thrown off cliffs, ridden in helicopters, frozen in blizzards, and wet from extended downpours. I've thrashed it for three years and I still feel comfortable wearing it. I haven't counted, but I feel at least a dozen of our team members wear this pack.
Q: Pros:
A: Durable, comfortable, versatile.
Q: Cons:
A: No bladder pouch, doesn't matter.
I use this product for:Trekking, Climbing, Mountaineering, Hiking

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good and spacious, missing pocket for camelback

Bought a Rescue Pack 50 just under a month ago now and had it with me on two traninings and a SAR. The packpack is spacious and has a lot of room for different assortments, so you can seperate food \ technical gear (headlights etc) \ medical gear easily. A small wish is that it could have had a inner lining pocket along the back where I could stuff my camelback. Other than that, it has worked well so far.
Q: Pros:
A: Lots of space
Q: Cons:
A: Missing cameback pocket.

Great SAR pack for Geeral and Technical Use

I bought this pack primarily for my work as a SAR member. I carry my 24 hour gear along with a hefty medical kit and my personal Rope Rescue gear.....and I still have space in it. Our team covers a huge area and in Northern Alberta, we can get cold so its great that this pack can expand when I have to carry extra food and insulation in the winter. The organization is great and the options for access really help when responding to a call. I have also worn this pack with a radio Chest pack (large 2 radio model) fully packed out with SAR essentials and the pack rides great. I also have a pocket for my satellite communicator on the shoulder straps that has been a great addition. I have also used it as my support pack when we are hiking with our Beaver Scouts (5-7 year olds) and when I am on my own back country travels and it continues to make me happy that I took the leap and purchased this pack. Although the straps and waist belt don't look like much, once you get the adjustment right the bag is super comfortable to carry. I would suggest two small improvements to make this more useful: - Have a clip/loop/tab on the inside of the backplate to attach a water bladder. I might not use it on every call, but it would make the pack a little more user friendly. - It would be great to have a belt mounted pouch available for small items often used in SAR. I have one (from a different manufactuer) that I attached with a small carabiner to the pulling loop and it has medical gloves, a handheld GPS, and room for a few other small regularly used items. Arc'teryx could make one to match the pack and I would be happy to provide some more insights if desired. Thanks for building a great pack!

Q: Cons:
A: needs bladder loop

Second Pack

First, I'd like to state that I absolutely love the Rescue Pack 50 design. I use it for SAR missions and it has more than enough room for my personal / team gear. Its comfortable in the alpine, and I appreciate the features that come with this pack. However my first pack started to delaminate at the hip belt where it attaches to the pack. Arc'teryx has an amazing return policy, and I was able to get a second pack. Unfortunately the second pack has started to do the same. I follow the cleaning instructions and take the best care for it that I can. Granted SAR work can put things through the paces, however this pack is in great condition otherwise. At this point I'm starting to explore other packs that Arc'teryx offers.
Q: Pros:
A: Great pack for SAR missions
Q: Cons:
A: Belt delaminates
Q: Activity
A: SAR Missions

Good pack, but a looot of straps

The pack seems nice enough, and will suit me fine in the objectives I have for it (avalanche dog handling). I haven't tested it extensively yet, but after some getting used to the avalanche tool pocket works fine, and I can get my tools without taking the backpack off entirely. There's a LOT of straps to keep in check though. One bad thing is that only one of the gear slots is wide enough to fit my 320 cm avalanche probes (BD Quickdraw Pro 320). It seems to be a manufacturing mistake, because the probe fits nicely in most of the slot, but there is one section that is too tight.
Q: Pros:
A: Lots of room, nice zippers
Q: Cons:
A: Many straps, too small probe pocket
Q: Activity
A: Avalanche dog handling

rugged go anywhere pack

I got this pack for doing relief work internationally. It fits for carry on for air travel and no matter the destination globally, the outer shell holds up excellent against abrasions and rough handling. As well, access to anything in the pack is superior to any other pack I have tried. There is also ample areas to store every tool or piece of gear that is possible for a 50L pack. Fits true to size: I am 6'1" and a Large is perfect. the only catch I would have is that the strap adjuster for the top pouch gets caught under the top pouch when it gets flipped open and adjusts itself fully open if you don't pull it out from being caught. Nevertheless, superb construction and performance, what else could you ask for?
Q: Pros:
A: performance and durability
Q: Cons:
A: strap adjuster gets caught
Q: Activity
A: Backpacking, rescue work

Yes, I recommend this product.
