Does this jacket have the collar snaps that stow/ secure the hood from flapping as well as the chest snap to leave the front zipper open for ventilation, like the older incendo?

That said, it does feature an adjustable low-profile hood and breathable mesh panels under the arms to help manage airflow and vent excess heat during high-output activities. We hope this helps!

Is this jacket UV-protective or rated? It seems ideal for hot/humid weather so long exposure to sunlight is a concern.

I need a thin jacket for cycling and always ride with a backpack. Interested in the Incendo Hoody and Norvan Insulated Hoody. Do you have any experience if the fabric of the two jackets, especially the mesh, is durable enough for a backpack?

The Incendo Hybrid Hoody and Norvan Insulated Hoody use lightweight fabrics that aren't necessarily intended for heavy backpack use, as friction can cause wear over time. Between the two, the Incendo Hybrid is the more durable option with Fortius 50 on the shoulders. However, we would suggest a Gore-Tex shell to ensure durability with prolonged backpack use. The pictures of the inside of the jacket make it look like the exterior pockets help form an interior “dump” pocket for gloves and such on the inside? Is this the case? Thinking this might be an interesting spring/warm weather ski tour piece.

On the Incendo Hybrid Hoody, the fabric from the exterior hand pockets does create the appearance of an interior “dump” pocket, but it’s important to note that these are not sewn through at the bottom, so they won’t securely hold items inside the jacket. That said, even without true internal storage, the Incendo remains a versatile, lightweight layer, and could absolutely be a solid option for spring or warm-weather ski touring thanks to its breathability and weather-resistant design.

How does this hoodie do in mild rain/wind? I am looking for something to pull for all of a sudden light rain in the summer when in the High Sierra etc… or is the SL Beta a better option?

Hi there, the Incendo Hybrid Hoody is a softshell designed for warm weather, offering light water repellency but not full waterproofing. While it provides excellent breathability and comfort, it won't protect you from the rain or wind, as it is air permeable. Given the conditions you've mentioned, the Beta SL Jacket would be a better fit. It's a lightweight, Gore-Tex shell, which will protect you from the elements, making it more suitable for sudden weather changes in the High Sierra.

The main differences will be the face fabric, the Incendo Hybrid Hoody is constructed with a 50d nylon stretch plain weave, 98gsm, w/DWR - 84% Nylon, 16% Elastane fabric, while the Gamma Lightweight Hoody is constructed with a RecNylon DBL Weave LTW Solid, 125gsm - 86% Nylon, 14% Elastane fabric. The different fabrics will play a significant role in the weight of the items. Incendo Hybrid Hoody is 220g and the Gamma Lightweight Hoody is 326g. It will also feature different fits, with the Incendo Hybrid Hoody featuring a fitted fit and the Gamma Lightweight Hoody featuring a regular fit.
