Super highly priced and it got worn down in less than 2 years of me owning it, I recommend the alpine jacket model instead, no tear in the gore-Tex and I’ve had it for 3 years. Maybe if the customer support team was better I could return it for another model or jacket but sadly not

Ich nutze die Jacke ausschließlich zum Eisklettern. Die Jacke hat alles was es dafür braucht. Absolute Robustheit, Wasserdicht und trotzdem sehr Bewegungsoptimiert. Auch kleine Details wie die Taschenanordnung machen sehr viel Spaß

The Alfa sv is a great shell that I’ve had for a few years. It is breathable but also blocks out the elements incredibly well. The one thing I don’t love about the jacket is the fact that there are no good pockets to put your hands in. Overall it’s a great jacket and I would highly recommended buying it.

I owned an ALPHA SV Jacket, for more than 2 years, and it delivers. Its a bit costly, but worth the money. As with rest of my Arcteryx gear, its reliable and works.
I been an outdoor specialist for more than 25 years, and been through most quality brands. Without an doubt Arcteryx is best when it comes to Shell-Jackets.

Shame that the expected lifespan of this jacket is only 2 years of light use, and that is according to Arcteryx own customer service, NOT worth the money.
Even with frequent washing the jacket started delaminating after 2 years, and I was told that this jacket advertised as their most durable jacket had reached the end of it's expected lifespan.

Not a single bad word about this jacket. I've used it daily (in cold weather) for 7 years and apart from a tiny bit of the colour coming off the zip pull, it still looks and works like the day i bought it. I do regularly wash and reproof it, which also helps fluff the lining material. It was a big outlay at the time, but I've had lesser coats fail miserably in the past, where this just keeps going. In that respect, I think it represents excellent value. Definitely a case of getting what you paid for.

Great jacket for the worst weather

As someone who spends a significant time in the mountains both social and conducting Mountain Rescue Operations this is the jacket I always reach for. It had never met me down.
It’s robust, comfortable and works well with my Atom and other layers.
It’s true to size and the hood draw board allow for the adjustment for my helmet or beanie hats.
Great piece of gear I can recommend enough.

Perfect all round jacket. Even after 8 hours torrential rain in the Yorkshire dales I was bone dry. Very well designed jacket for back pack use and ski touring. Can’t fault it other than the arms are too long, could do with being a few inches shorter.

Alpha SV (Severely Lacking)

Absolutely not worth the money.
Purchased an Alpha SV in 2020.
Average seasonal wear with regular care using Arc’teryx products and following their instructions.
Had a hood adjustment button become unglued, so brought it in for repairs. After assessment by their team they listed off a number of unrelated “issues” that made it impossible to repair— such things as minor oil stain (probably from sweat) in the collar, signs of contamination (again also probably from sweat) in an armpit etc. They informed me the jacket was essentially beyond repair and garbage.
Their resolution was to offer me a measly 20% credit towards a new jacket, while also telling me that they would either destroy or repurpose my jacket for their ReBird products.
For a “Top of the Line” severe weather jacket, to only last the short amount of time as it did, is severely disappointing. As a company, this is a clear message that they are only after the sales and do not stand behind their products at all.
Save your hard earned dollars and purchase products from a company with some actual integrity.

Bonjour je suis extrêmement déçu d Arc’teryx, j ai porté cette veste une dizaine de fois que j ai du renvoyer car le bouton de la capuche se décollait, 40€ pour la renvoyer en suisse pour la réparer pour au final faire des trous dans la capuche , très déçu mais soite j ai accepté la réparation, je reviens d une randonnée légère ou il a plus pendant 2h finement, on ne parle pas la d une tempête mais de pluie légère, et la veste étais mouillé ainsi que mon pull était trempé, je regrette tellement d avoir mis autant d argent dans cette veste qui est finalement pire que toute les vestes connu auparavant.
