Question 1

Does this Sylan 2 shoes good to wear on winter days?

Nemo · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for your inquiry. The Sylan 2 is designed primarily as a high‑output trail running shoe, so while it offers great traction and protection, it isn’t intended as a dedicated winter shoe. On cold or snowy days, the knit upper and lightweight construction may not provide enough insulation, and the outsole isn’t optimized for icy conditions. Many people still use it in milder winter weather, but for consistent snow, slush, or low temperatures, a model with a warmer upper or a winter‑specific outsole will offer a more reliable experience.

Question 2

Are these shoes available in wide width?

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello there, the Sylan 2 Shoe is not available in a wide width at this time, it’s currently offered only in a standard width.

Question 3

Would these sneakers be good for running a marathon and marathon training?

Dante, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Jenny, thank you for your question. The Sylan 2 is a trail running shoe designed for runners looking for speed, and confidence on uneven terrain. Its rocker geometry, responsive foam, and carbon fiber plate make it well suited for long-distance trail efforts, including trail half marathons and marathons. If you're training for and racing on trails, the Sylan 2 could be a great option. However, if you're preparing for a road marathon or half marathon, you may want to consider a shoe specifically designed for road running. We hope this helps, and wish you the best of luck with your training.

Question 4

With the Sylvan 1's I had to size down a half size- should I do the same with the Sylvan 2? I saw one review that actually suggested sizing up a half size. Thanks!

Beth · Accepted Answer

Hi Mary, thanks for your question! The fit of the Sylan 2 has been updated from the original Sylan, and most wearers find it fits closer to true-to-size than the Sylan 1. If you sized down by a half size in the Sylan 1, we would generally recommend starting with your usual running shoe size in the Sylan 2. That said, fit preferences can vary based on foot shape and the amount of room you prefer in the toe box. If you're between sizes or prefer extra room for longer runs, you may find sizing up a half size more comfortable. We recommend checking your foot measurement against our footwear size chart for the best fit.

Question 5

I read that the men's and women's variants of this shoe use the same last / have the same width...could you verify?

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello there, yes, we can confirm that the Sylan 2 Men’s and Women’s versions use the same last, so the width and overall fit profile are consistent across both models. The only differences between the two come down to colour and sizing offerings, so you can expect the same performance and fit regardless of which version you choose. We hope this helps.

Question 6

Are these good shoes to use for jumping rope? Not sure if rocker shoes are good for that.

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. The Sylan 2 Shoe is designed as a propulsive trail running shoe. Its rockered midsole and responsive supercritical foam are engineered to help create forward momentum while running on trails. While you can certainly try them for jump rope, a rockered shoe may not be the ideal choice for repetitive jumping in place, as it is optimized for forward movement. For the best experience, we would recommend using footwear designed specifically for that type of training. That said, fit and comfort are personal, so you may wish to try them on and see if they meet your needs. We hope this helps!

Question 7

Hi - is the Sylan 2 waterproof

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Kirsten, thank you for your question! No, the Sylan 2 Shoe is not waterproof. This trail running shoe features a TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) woven upper, which is designed to be lightweight and breathable but not waterproof. If you're looking for waterproof shoes, we recommend checking out some of our GORE-TEX footwear models, which will have "GTX" in the product name: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/c/womens/footwear.

Question 8

Do I need to spray water proofing solution for sylvan 2 women shoes

Luna · Accepted Answer

Hi Susan! Thank you for your question. The Sylan 2 Shoes were designed as a fast, performance‑driven trail running shoe, built for efficiency and forward momentum. They feature a rocker‑shaped midsole to help propel you forward, responsive cushioning to maximize energy return, and added stability for moving quickly over uneven ground. It’s important to note that waterproofing sprays only create a thin, water‑repellent barrier. They do not make a non‑waterproof shoe fully waterproof, and water can still enter during heavy rain, prolonged exposure, or submersion. That said, the Sylan 2 does not feature a GORE‑TEX waterproof membrane, so applying a waterproofing solution would only provide light water resistance. If you're looking for a trail running shoe that helps seal snow and water, we'd recommend checking out the Norvan 4 Nivalis GTX Shoe, which features a GORE‑TEX membrane for waterproof protection. We hope this helps!

Question 9

Is the upper made of goretex? Wondering if it’s waterproof.

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. The Sylan 2 Shoe is not waterproof. It features a woven upper and is not made with GORE-TEX. If you are looking for a waterproof trail running shoe, we recommend looking into the Norvan LD 4 GTX Shoe. We hope this helps!

Question 10

Is it good for the gym? Such as hyrox training

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Sasha, the Sylan 2 is engineered for confident speed on the trail, with a rockered midsole that drives efficient forward motion, an ultra‑responsive supercritical foam that maximizes energy return, and a carbon‑fibre plate that adds stability on uneven terrain. While it excels in fast, technical trail environments, it isn’t optimized for gym or Hyrox‑style training. The aggressive outsole lugs are designed for outdoor traction rather than indoor surfaces, and the propulsion‑focused midsole is tuned for continuous forward ovement rather than the multi‑directional stability needed for functional strength work. For Hyrox or gym sessions, we recommend the Norvan LD 4, which offers a more balanced platform, improved stability, and smoother performance across mixed training environments. We hope this helps!
