Question 1

Why were the pockets on this jacket made different from the pockets made on say the Atom Jacket?

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Sherlock, thank you for your question. The pocket construction differs because the Squamish and Atom are each designed for different purposes. The Squamish is a lightweight, packable windshell, so the pocket bags will be visible from the inside to reduce weight, bulk, and complexity while maintaining its packability. The Atom is an insulated jacket with a lining and insulation layers that conceal the pocket construction. This results in a different interior appearance and feel. Both jackets are designed and optimized for their specific performance goals. Hope this helps!

Question 2

Sewed inside the jacket on both sides is a rectangular piece of material.that sewed on the sid, but the top and bottom are not sewed. You can slide your hand starting at the top through the bottom. What is the purpose of these pieces of material?l.

Hi Sherlock, thank you for your question. The rectangular fabric panels you see on the inside of the Squamish Jacket are the pocket bags for the external zippered hand pockets. Because the Squamish is a lightweight, non-insulated wind shell, the pocket bags are designed as separate fabric panels and are only secured where needed as part of the pocket construction. This design helps minimize weight and bulk while keeping the jacket's packability. As a result, the top and bottom edges of these panels are not sewn directly to the body of the jacket, which can make them appear to be loose interior pockets. They are not additional storage pockets, but rather the internal structure that forms the hand pockets accessed from the outside of the jacket. We hope this helps clarify what you're seeing inside the jacket!

Question 3

how do you stow the jacket into its chest pocket

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Jen, thanks for reaching out. To stow the Squamish Jacket into its chest pocket, start by turning the chest pocket inside out until you can see the black attachment loop. From there, stuff the rest of the jacket into the pocket and zip it closed once everything is inside. We hope this helps!
