Question 2

what temperatures would this be best for?

Rick, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Mezz, thank you for your question. The Clarkia AR Insulated Hoody uses Coreloft which offers great warmth for it's weight. That said, we do not rate our garments for temperature as there are too many factors that influence this result from person to person and we recommend referring to our layering guide for more tips on staying warm: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/shop/layering-guide. We hope this helps.

Question 3

Can I apply the NU water repel spray on it?

Beth · Accepted Answer

Hi William, great question! We would not recommend applying our Nu Durable Water Repellent (DWR) Spray to the Claria AR Insulated Hoody. This style was not designed with a DWR-treated face fabric, so adding a DWR treatment is unlikely to provide the intended performance benefits and could affect the fabric's appearance or feel. If you'd like more information on caring for your garment, our Product Care page is a great resource. Alternatively, you're always welcome to reach out to our Guest Services team through our Contact Us page. We'd be happy to answer any questions and help you get the most out of your gear.

Question 4

Is this waterproof?

Dante, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Alex, thank you for your question. The Clarkia AR Insulated Hoody is not waterproof. While it features a moisture-resistant outer fabric that can help shed light moisture and provides breathable comfort, it does not include a waterproof membrane such as GORE-TEX®. This hoody is designed primarily as an insulated climbing piece for cool, dry conditions, offering lightweight warmth, durability, and comfort at the crag. If you expect sustained rain or wet weather, we would recommend pairing it with a waterproof shell like the Beta AR jacket for reliable weather protection. We hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any other questions.

Question 5

Usually xxs and xs both fit me ok, xxs fits just right and xs fits more relaxed. What size should I order for this one

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Jess, thanks for reaching out. The Clarkia AR Insulated Hoody has an oversized fit, our most generous silhouette, with a loose cut through the body, dropped shoulders, and wide sleeves for a relaxed look. Since you usually wear XXS and XS for a more relaxed feel, we recommend comparing the product measurements with a similar piece you own: XXS - chest 119.5 cm / waist 112 cm, XS - chest 124.5 cm / waist 117 cm. The XXS will feel closer to your usual with an oversized fit, while the XS will offer extra room. And if you’re still unsure, you’re welcome to order both sizes and return the one that doesn’t work, we offer free returns within 30 days as long as the item is new, with tags, and in brand‑new condition.

Question 6

would you say this fits a size large?

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello there, the Clarkia AR Insulated Hoody is designed with an oversized fit, which is our most generous silhouette. It’s cut loosely through the body with dropped shoulders and wide sleeves to give extra freedom of movement and a relaxed, contemporary drape. So yes, if you typically wear a size Large, this style is intended to fit roomy in that size. Let us know if you’d like help comparing measurements or sizing between options.

Question 7

How does this compare to the atom hoody?

Joseph, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Bobbi, thanks for your question. The Clarkia AR Insulated Hoody is a more durable, climbing‑focused piece designed to work as a stand‑alone jacket. It has a tougher face fabric and an oversized fit for mobility and abrasion resistance. The Atom Hoody, on the other hand, is lighter and more breathable, making it great as a mid‑layer or a stand‑alone on milder days. If you want something rugged and roomy, the Clarkia AR is the better fit; if you prefer something versatile and easy to layer, the Atom is a great choice.

Question 8

Why no hip adjusters?

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Sofia, thanks for the question. The Clarkia AR Insulated Hoody doesn’t include hip adjusters because the jacket is intentionally cut on the shorter, more cropped side, which helps it sit cleanly at the waist without needing additional hardware. Adding adjusters would create bulk and interfere with the smooth drape of the hem, especially given the insulated construction. The goal is to keep the silhouette streamlined, comfortable, and easy to layer, and the shorter length naturally keeps the hoody in place without extra cinching.
