Biography

Born: 02/09/77
Sponsors: G3, Arcteryx, Society Snow and Skate

I first picked up a snowboard in the winter of 1991. I was 14. My father had taught me to ski at the ripe age of 3 and was disappointed to see me join the "outlaws" but regardless it became my main passion. I spent my youth chasing snow around the Rocky Mountains of Alberta and developed a great appreciation and respect for the mountains. When I discovered split boarding my world suddenly became much larger. My mom encouraged me to further my avalanche awareness and I took my Canadian Avalanche Association level 1 in 1997. I soon began travelling extensively in the backcountry gaining knowledge and experience on how to travel safely and efficiently in the backcountry, motivated by the search for new areas and new lines.

10 years ago I decided to escape the city and moved to Revelstoke, where I found a great crew of ski mountaineers. I learnt a lot about safe mountain travel and while getting after it I started considering working towards becoming a certified ski guide. In 2013 I passed the ACMG Apprentice Ski Guide exam, becoming one of a select few to have done so on a splitboard, and love spending my winters working as a heli snowboard guide for Selkirk Tangiers heli sking and a splitboard guide at Rogers Pass and Whitecap Alpine.

When I'm not playing in the snow I spend most of my time climbing, biking, kayaking… really anything that keeps me outside and in the mountains.

I am super fired up to be onboard with Arc’teryx and will continue to push the limits of splitboarding and gain acceptance for the sport in the mountain community.
