I live in the Gamma MX Hoody

I bought the predecessor of the Gamma Hoody in 2016 and have worn it hard for every conceivable purpose. From the first crisp fall day to the last cool day of spring, this rocks for ice climbing, hiking, trail work, days-in town, and everything in between. Due to the fit its great to layer, but its cozy enough that I can throw it over a short sleeve and still be comfortable. I will be 100% replacing it with another the instant I have to, but I hope there is a repair in its future when the time comes, because it has come to be like that childhood emotional support item that you couldn't get rid of! Also the Arc'teryx colorways always ROCK! Pick something bright to be a statement piece!

The MX really does stand for mixed weather. Just did a few weeks in Norway with this jacket and it became my go to. It handled light rain well, warm, and wind proof. A GREAT all around must have.

J’apprecie beaucoup ma veste car elle est tres agreable à porter. Les poches de la veste sont bien placer pour tout type d’utilisation qu’ on soit en montagne ou en ville. J’apprecie fortement la grande capuche dans lequel on peut mettre un casque mais sans casque elle permet une bonne protection sur tout le visage des intemperies.

Awesome softshell for Ski touring

I have had this soft shell for couple of years now and it is my go to piece for skinning up the skin track on cold days and layering underneath a hard shell for the descent down. The shape and cut makes it look great on its own, but also for layering underneath hard shells or down jackets when it gets really cold out. Being a soft shell it breaths terrific for the ascent and repels moisture and water droplets.

I bought this hoody brand new and I fell in love at first wear. Yes the sleeve cuffs were too tight but you fixed that. But you should have stopped... (I've bought two more used so I think I know a good product) You took away the users right breast pocket. (I held my glasses there) and the left shoulder pocket. Why? I won't even consider a jacket that doesn't have a breast pocket for my cell so when I found double - it was double joy! Don't fix what ain't broken.

A solid daily driver for the winter.

I bought this jacket having owned the SL, LT and the previous gen of the MX. The most recent MX iteration is a worthy upgrade from previous generations. The inner lining is more breathable, the new cuff design is great and not cumbersome and the hood is fantastic. The button like hem cinches are far superior on the MX to the LT. The pockets are comfy to rest your hands in. Although they are not per-say "Lined" like they are in the Atom, they do still provide a nice touch of warmth and comfort. In regards to layering, I can comfortably fit a Proton FL or Atom LT or Covert underneath, however a Cerium LT is a touch too much and feels restrictive. Only negatives I could pick at is the front length to the hip could be an inch longer and price of 400 Euros is a tad silly.

I like the combination of moderate amount of water-resistant and wind-resistant nature without being a stiff looking jacket, but also not too serious-looking. It is warm enough for New England fall weather. I consider this a slim fit, so layering is not really an option

J'ai pris la taille L comme d'habitude et la coupe de cette veste est athlétique, le haut de la veste est spacieux, les manches assez longues avec la moitié du bout de manche élastique, la capuche assez ample pour utiliser un casque.
La qualité de fabrication est excellente, avec des doublures en 2 matières, les élastiques pour positionner la capuches ou pour ajuster le bas de la veste sont parfaitement intégrés et cachés dans la doublure.
Cette veste est chaude, mais relativement ventilée. Elle est parfaite pour le trekking à haute altitude avec des températures assez basses ou pour lutter contre le vent. Comme elle est lourde, il vaut mieux réfléchir avant de la mettre dans un sac à dos...
En résumé une très belle veste, des coloris nombreux, mais elle est très très chère

Als Ersatz für meine in die Jahre gekommen Venta SV habe ich mir eine Gamma MX gekauft. Dazu folgende Punkte.
+ Sehr guter Schnitt
+ gutes Material, soweit getestet
- Notwendigkeit der Brusttaschen
- Keine Innentasche
- Extrem große Kapuze
- Kein Klettverschluss an den Bündchen, viel zu eng für die Pulsuhr
- Keine Unterarmbelüftung (Reißverschluss)
Im Gesamten war meine alte Venta SV im Gesamtkonzept besser. Ich habe im Moment das Gefühl, dass Arc‘teryx mehr um den „Urban Jungle“ bemüht ist. Nach dem Motto „Mehr Style, Funktion wird schon passen“.

Great heavy duty softshell

This is my 4th Gamma MX. It’s pretty heavy duty with four ventilation pockets and light fleece bonded to the inside as a slight insulation. The dwr from factory is usually pretty good for light rain.
My only issue with it is the cuff design. I miss the old cuffs which are more like an atom or proton cuff. I honestly can’t understand why these are designed this way. If it had the old cuffs I would give it 5 stars!
I use this for skiing as it fits over my ski helmet well and if I size up I can fit extra Insulation underneath. Of course if it’s really windy and cold I’d recommend a hard shell.

My most used everyday jacket

This is not a jacket I use when spending time in the backcountry. While it love it for its breathability, water resistance and wind resistance, it’s simply too heavy and bulky to throw into my pack when I’m not wearing it. A lighter weight soft shell is much more versatile…better when moving fast…still wind resistant, more breathable and when I need a higher level of water resistance, I put on my lightweight hard shell.
This jacket does, however, excel as an everyday jacket, for all the reasons described above. Plus, it looks awesome! It is the perfect combination between outdoorsy and dressy. I can wear this to the office on a sketchy days and then on drizzly cold days hikes on the weekend.
I’m 6’-2” tall, weight 190 lbs and wear a size large. Fits perfectly.

Great fit, perfect for bicycling

I bought this because I needed a lightweight, breathable, warm, windbreaking jacket for when I ride my bicycle at night when it's cool (or in the day when it's cool or rainy of course). I tried on many other jackets form around the mall but these fit so well. My test ride tonight went as well as I could expect. I didn't overheat but it kept me warm. I appreciated being able to zip it up all the way to keep wind out of front, and zip it down to get extra cooling when needed. Looks and function, hard to beat! The medium fits me perfectly. I usually wear a medium or large.

love the Gamma MX Hoody, wasnt to sure about it at first but fell in love with not long after, great shell i used over the winter for many purposes such as hiking, ice climbing, snowboarding, hanging around a fire, doing errands around town.. its a great alternative for something to wear inbetween an atom lt and a beta ar. alot of the times i wore it over my Atom Lt and was a perfect match for me, was warm, breathable and was impressed with the durable water repellent as a few quick snow storms would cruz by and it did the job greatly. when ever im going on road trips for work for a few days or so, this would be my go to jacket for that extra layer.

The Fortius fabric used stands up to every activity I put it through. A favourite piece of gear. PLEASE produce this in a wider variety of earth tones colours, like your foliage colour, but also olive, tan, etc (or similar). These colours could even be marketed as a ‘support the earth’ campaign, or silmilar. These colours are much better for wildlife watching/photography, and lend a more sedate look for those who don’t want to wear the brighter colours. I love mine in black, will buy another if the right colours come along!

166 lbs/5’9”/40” chest. Medium fits great. I’m a solid men’s medium in most “regular fit” Arcteryx jackets (eg Gamma MX and Atom AR). Fit and finish are premium. Thoughtful pockets. Embroidered logo is nice. Haven’t had much of a chance to wear it yet, but am looking forward to putting it to the test.
