Incredible Jacket But…

The Atom Hoody checks every box for a perfect jacket, except for one major design flaw. I had the jacket replaced 3 times in hopes that I was just unlucky, but it’s a consistent issue. The left sleeve cuff has a problem in the seam where it digs into your skin, as shown in the picture below. The design not only has this problem but compared to the proton cuff it seems less durable in terms of tightness, shape. Otherwise it’s a fantastic product that’ll impress you with its warmth to weight ratio and performance. I really want to love this jacket but I hate that my left wrist always has the seam lip digging in my skin.

My go-to jacket for everyday wear and travel

By far one of the best jackets that Arc'teryx makes. It's incredibly versatile, light, packable, and still manages to be warm. I wear this comfortably at 0° C with a tee and crewneck sweatshirt. It blocks wind fairly well and works great as a standalone. I don't often wear it as a mid-layer but it definitely works well. Anytime I have to travel I bring this jacket because I'm often walking a lot during my trips so the jacket regulates my temperature exceptionally well (especially when carrying a bunch of stuff). Reminder that if you're standing still / not moving a lot this jacket will feel a tad cold.
I think my only gripe about the jacket is the lack of short sizing and maybe alternate fits. I would love to have a size Small - Short version with 2 inches off the length and maybe 1-1.5 inches off the sleeves. It would also be great if the jacket was offered in other fits like regular and relaxed since the fitted fit of the jacket makes it hard to wear more casual clothes underneath.
I'm 5'6 and 135 lbs with a slightly athletic build. I wear size small comfortably but can't wear baggy clothes underneath (e.g., sweaters with a large sleeves).

I bought my second jacket in 4 years having loved my last one. While the products are great quality their support is terrible. After paying $180 for this year ago I fell and tore my sleeve. They charged me $80 for a repair and only allowed me to choose a very different color. It looks very obvious, awkward, and unprofessional. I felt like they should have offered a better discount in stead of this “fix”.

Great… just not as great as it used to be

Don’t get me wrong, the atom is still a great all around synthetic mid layer. But every year the quality seams to drop just a touch.
Comparing my new atom(2023) to my buddy’s 2019 model I can really see the difference. Somehow the old jacket still feels loftier. The internal fabric is far comfier and everything feels more robust. It’s tragic but that’s the way the company is going.

Just got this jacket delivered - I’ve heard Arc’teryx products are great but now I can say I’ve experienced one … and great is an understatement.
I wanted something lightweight for daily outtings but still warm enough not to freeze walking to grocery store. Well I was surprised how light weight this is - thought maybe it’s more for spring … until I wore it in the house 10 minutes and I was cooking.

price teg at $260, but Arcteryx sell them for $300

Bought the Atom jacket about a week ago. Arcteryx charges a $300 premium for their jacket. The Jacket has great quality and fits well, but it comes with a tag that prices the item at MSRP $260 USD. They explained that they adjusted the price in December and didn't change the price tag. That is no way to confirm if the product is an old stock that they charge an extra $40 to clear. A $40 jump is quite a bit for a $260 jacket. I just think if a company priced a product at $260 they should sell them at that price. Great jacket, but feel a little rib off..

I wear this nearly every day during the fall/winter. Extremely comfortable, breathable, and wearable in various contexts.
Works underneath an outer shell for snowboarding or by itself in brisk weather out in the US Northeast area. I’ve even slept in it with no issue of overheating. Highly recommend.

Listen, if you like atoms and you have several like I do, the new colour ways are great! The new fit I find tighter in the torso, which I am a big fan of, but I'm also an athletic to slim build. If this is your first atom, I don't have any advice for you, but if you're returning for a new colourway, rest assured they still are well made in 2024

I'm 5'10 235 lb 35in sleeve 41in waist. I purchased an extra large. The sleeve length is good there's not too much extra length. Waist of the jacket has about 2in of room largely due to the fleece side flex. I only wear a t-shirt under this. I would recommend this jacket current temperature, 28° f and upwards if there is no adverse weather. I recently bought this to wear from the car to the bar and to not overheat inside. Ive worn it all day inside my house without overheatin and on 1-2 miles walks outside from 28 to 48 degrees Fahrenheit. I dont recommend it for colder as i took a walk when it was 32° with 15 to 25 knot winds and The hood and the rest of the jacket held up but i was cold because the side panels let in too much air. In my opinion they should have limited these more to the underarm and not the whole body length. The overall manufacturing is ok. I'm not a fan of Arcteryx insulated jackets overall as i think the assembly and stitching leaves much to be desired.

The revised Atom is a big disappointment. The super comfortable fit of the original, which allowed greater freedom of movement in your upper body, along with a very soft comfortable finish, are both gone. Please bring back the original!!

The Atom LT (now just Atom) jacket is my go to jacket! Keeps warm up to 40F. It's light, comfortable, breathable on trail, and works for about everything! Just wish it was packable.

Great light weight jacket with fragile fabric !

I love atom lt since day one I owned it . Super comfy and versatile but after only about month , the inside of left collar has already been pilling , not outer fabric, which only contact skin or hair ! Customer service said it’s normal wear and tear and won’t affect durability which I doubt just because it’s such thin fabric and only one month usage with this issue occurred, quite disappointed!

I agree. I have an atom jacket a year old and the fabric is wearing thin on the sleeves and pulling… not very durable for $280.
