Res Baehler

Hometown

When Res was six years old, he told his parents that he was going to be a mountain guide, and sure enough 18 years later he was an International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations mountain guide. Res loved guiding, climbing, skiing and just travelling in the mountains, but what Res loved the most was the people and his interactions. He was passionate about community and was a strong advocate for ice climbing in the Engadine Valley. He was constantly working on creative projects to promote guiding and was always grateful for the support he received. He was possibly the most dapper mountain guide who ever lived. He had a remarkable ability to keep his gear impeccably clean even when climbing in the most rugged terrain. Res had a spiritual side to him and would always find beauty in serendipitous synchronicity. So in honour of Res, give him a thought the next time the stars line up and you have a happy coincidence, for likely it is Res giving you a nod.
