Amazing shoe! For me, it’s difficult to find appropriate footwear, given the bunions and extra wide foot, but this shoe will allow me to go miles at the time. I bought it yesterday but went for a long hike to break them in. There was no need. They were comfortable from the beginning until the end. Great quality, and very comfortable.

Looks cool but components will break

I purchased these boots 3 months ago -the heavier version- for 350$ on this website and left for a hiking journey into Patagonia. Less than 2 weeks into the trip the laces broke on both boots. When I told Arcteryx, they replied to me to buy other laces and that was it. I do not think they care about the quality of their footwear. For me it was a challenge to replace both laces during the hiking trip itself. The design looks cool and the boots themselves were fine, but the quality of the components is really scare and I was disappointed by their customer service as well.

So disappointed with the quality

I am so upset to buy and take these shoes on my Iceland trip. I wore them to the field trip on the first day, and they chafed both sides of my ankles. I had to change back to my sneakers, and I found the chafed blood mark on both sides of my ankles. I did not have another pair of waterproof walking shoes during my trip. When I took them back to the store after the trip and asked for a refund, the staff told me they could do nothing with the used shoes. He also mentioned people usually wear knee-high socks with these kinds of shoes. I was really upset that if I didn't wear it, how could I know this kind of defect existed? How can I know the shoes could make me unable to walk as WALKING SHOES?

This is really an unfair score. Firstly they are WALKING BOOTS not walking shoes. Why anyone would wear a pair of ankle socks with a pair of boots. The boots are made for durability with durable materials, so not quite the soft plush cuffs that you would get in slippers perhaps. For multi-day treks/expeditions especially you need to look after your feet, any skin to fabric contact point is going to be a chafing risk and should be avoided. There’s these amazing products called HIKING SOCKS and are fantastic for this purpose, although I will say they don’t necessarily need to be knee length. You might get away with ankle socks for taking your dog to the park but other than that make sure your socks come above the cuff of the boot. So do your research, especially if you’re going to be wearing any item of gear day after day on a trip. Spending a significant amount of money does not negate the need for this. Finally, don’t blame the brand for your ignorance and failure to plan. These are an amazing pair of high quality durable boots and the most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn, and yes I take spare laces too, who wouldn’t?

Okay city shoes. Not real hikers....

Fine city shoes but I would not take these on a hike. I wore them on a city hike on a rainy day and came home with wet toes. I'm going to venture a guess that the waterproofing does not completely cover the tongue of the shoe. Given that these are sold as waterproof hikers, I'd expect to be able to wear these on a very rainy day and have dry feet. I would not wear these on a camping or hiking trip.

Great hiking boots

When I tried these on in the store I had no intention of buying hiking boots that day, but they were so comfortable I went for it. Now I’ve worn them on a bunch of dog walks at home and hikes in Sedona, AZ. Even more comfortable, flexible yet supportive, light, grippy, no notes. Haven’t tried them in water yet but have it feeling it’s going to be fine.

Great boots

I had been looking for waterproof boots for my trip to Europe in the winter time, i had plantar fasciitis and knee problems so i was looking for comfortable shoes. I had tried so many brands from sorel, ugg, Ariat etc, they either not comfortable enough or its hard to put on, i bought this boots just a couple days before my trip, no need to break them and they are comfortable. It kept my feet dry during tsin and snow, it kept my feet warm but if your toes is cold you can put feet warmer to keep your toes warm and toasty. Great product
