A perfect lightweight jacket but also keeps me warm in the 30 degree weather I been wearing it in. It also easily folds perfectly in my luggage when traveling.

The jacket is so snug and lightweight that it is not either too hot or cold. The surprising fact is that it blocks the wind better than I expected. If not for the price and affordability I would have given a 5 star rating. If you are willing to spend money on a good jacket this is a goto.

I've now got two of these, because they are truly the most versatile jacket for the widest range of conditions and missions. I've summited Mont Blanc, skied the backcountry of Idaho, climbed the cliffs of the mountain west, walked the dogs, gone to dinners and traveled the world. All with this jacket and it has performed well in every one. It regulates my body temperature in such a wide range of activity and conditions. It's my go to layer for it all. Only reason I gave a 4 star warmth, is because if you're sitting still in very cold temperatures for too long, you will need an additional layer like a true puffer to keep you warm. That kind of goes without saying though!

I basically live in my Atom Hoody. As a full time climbing coach and guide, it is perfect for nearly every season. It’s my go to extra layer for rock climbing and always on while ice climbing. Can’t recommend this jacket enough. I would give it 6 stars if there were a chest pocket.

This jacket is supremely versatile. I wear it all the time - it’s often the first layer I grab if it’s a bit cooler. Great patterning and fit for me. I am 5’8” and 160lb and wear a medium

The Atom is my go to everything layer. It is an approach jacket for cold mornings, that goes under a shell for the climb or the ski down. It’s a summer weight puffy jacket. It’s a fleece replacement that weights less. I love the elastic cuffs, they work under gauntlets and smaller gloves can be tucked in. The fabrics are soft and comfy, but durable for their weight. Lastly it breaths quite well, but still cuts a bit of wind. I almost always bring it with me. Note. I wear medium in all other products, but I went large in the atom for more room.

I'm on my 3rd copy of this jacket -- all of them have been formidable opponents to kayak guiding, ski guiding, and everyday abuses of a middle-aged male. Ultimately only succumbing to fire and/or grease (and then I just use them as a labouring jacket in off-seasons). Really easy to care for and perfect for the humid conditions on the BC Coast. 2 Thumbs Up.

The jacket was great a few years ago... After having my jacket stolen, I immediately bought a new one as it was my number one every day jacket. Today, the quality is extremely disappointing. The fabric is less soft, the insulation feels empty. The side of the jacket used to be solid fleece, now it's this stretchy cheap material that you can see through. It's now a terrible jacket to wear alone and must be coupled with a shell otherwise its like wearing a long sleeve shirt.

I’ve owned 2 of these jackets over the years, one is now a dirty job jacket (still in great shape just with a few burn holes from bonfires), and the newer one I wear everyday while working as a ski guide, or through out the year whenever the temp drops. The fit and versatility of this jacket are exceptional. It comes with me on ever adventure and I consider it an essential piece of my kit. Worn as a mid layer or stand alone jacket, it handles being dressed up to go out for a night on the town, and traversing a knife ridge to access the goods! Built to last and with the attention to detail / design that Arc’teryx is known for. No matter your activities of choice, this jacket will become your go to.

I'm using this as an insulating layer under the Alpha shell as well as just a normal layer around town on moderate days. I am 5'9" 175lbs and went with the large as this is the "fitted" cut. The large fits fine but I could probably go with the medium for a tighter fit. Very warm but also lightweight and soft. If I were just looking to use this as an insulating layer, the medium might be a better option. I love the jacket, I find it being my go-to when I run to the store. It will get more reps as the insulating layer as ski season ramps up.

This review is only really going to be relevant if you fit into what I would consider a fairly standard sizing block for apparel. At 5'11" with a 42" chest, I sit exactly in the middle of medium and large in Arcteryx sizing. A medium is just that little too snug, a large is ridiculous. In my case, Arcteryx helpfully suggests I decide "how I want my product to fit." How about you just make a product that fits as you intend it? When you look at a size chart, a medium equates to a EU 48 and a large to a EU 52, so Arc has just skipped an entire European size. I have a few Arc pieces and face this dilemma continuously. Sometimes, in the case of my recent Veilance jacket in large, everything fits except for the arm length, which overshoots by about an inch. With no velcro fasteners I find myself having to cuff a $700 jacket which is unacceptable. Sizing issues ruin what is otherwise a stunning product here. The Atom is incredibly versatile, and equally at home as a mid layer or outer layer, and the insulation is perfect for milder Autumn days. Layer up a bit and it could take you through the winter, although you'd need to size up to fit anything under it which would put you at risk of stupid arm length. I ended up going for medium in my Atom. It fits better than a large and although it's tighter than I would want, the stretch in the side panels is quite forgiving. But please Arcteryx, introduce a size that's equivalent to an EU 50 so we don't have to forever compromise on fit.

I'm a huge fan of the Atom Hoody, especially for those days which are especially frigid. This is my go-to jacket whenever the temperature drops below ~50 degrees, since it's lightweight while providing plenty of warmth and protection from the wind. The fit and feel are great - it's snug enough to keep me warm but not so tight that I'm uncomfortable. My only (minor) critique is that the sleeves are a bit long for me. Excited to bring this on my next camping/backpacking trip in the fall/winter months, since I know it'll hold up and keep me comfortable.

I love the fit, contour, design and overall feel and insulation of this hoody. The issue is the fabric is horrendous durability in regards to abrasion. After extremely mild usage of biking 2 miles 3-4 days per week with a backpack on for not even 3 months, the shoulders are wearing through and piling, the fabric is thinning. After purchase support was not helpful whatsoever and insisted it is normal "wear and tear" and not covered under the warranty. It'd be understandable to consider it wear & tear if id had it for even a year and used it frequently under certain conditions. Unusual abrasion that developed rapidly is not what I expect paying $300 for an Arcteryx product. Fortunately a store manager was very helpful and escalated the issue, but ridiculous that the after purchase associate still needs to suggest its a "one time exception", instead of recognizing the fact that the durability is poor.

As expected except the zipper is the cheapest zipper I’ve ever seen used. Less than a month after I purchased my Atom Hoody, wearing the jacket a total of ten times mainly for 15 minute dog walks, the zipper’s bottom catch fell off. It’s YKK but made of plastic, not metal. I’m now required to pay for shipping and give up having a rain coat in November for them to fix it. While it’s nice they’ll fix it, there was no apology, or effort to keep me as a loyal Arc’teryx customer. Pretty poor quality experience to be honest.

Love the fit and feel of the jacket. I'm 6'5" and 200lbs, and it fits amazing. Not too tight, it moves with me, and doesn't get all baggy or bunched up under other layers. Material is very comfortable, the jacket is pleasantly warm.

Hopefully this version is more durable that the Atom LT Hoody. I had my LT since September '22 and wore it maybe 2 months per season. I stopped wearing in Spring this year since it has abnormal wear in the back. I rarely had a backpack while using but I wear other light jackets like this one with it and they all have no issues. I tried to open a claim with Arc'teryx and I can't send the form (how convenient). The store manager where I bought it told me Arc'teryx would highly unlikely do anything about my issue. At $360 for a "hoody", you'd surely want it to last more than ~8 months in 2 years.
