So close yet so far

First off to arc'teryx: Do not kill this jacket! It is next to impossible to find quality unlined softshell jackets and this is one of the few on the market. This could be an absolutely killer jacket with just a few tweaks.
The two biggest issues is the fit does not allow for layering and the second is the absence of pit zips.
Softshell jackets are an extremely overlooked and underrated piece of kit. Softshell jackets are shell jackets and should be sized accordingly. The current fit has no room for layering. It should instead be sized in the same way as the Beta jacket which allows for layers.
Second it absolutely must have put zips. Again softshells are shells and should be treated as such. Pit zips are essential to prevent overheating and reduce moisture.
The final recommendation id make is to change to adjustable cuffs.
With these improvements I'd probably be wearing this jacket more than anything else.

Thank you for your feedback on the Gamma Hoody. For more layering room, we recommend sizing up if the current size does not allow for you to do so comfortably. Additionally, softshells typically don't have pit zips due to their breathability and lightweight design, which naturally vent moisture during physical activity. They're designed for moderate weather and less extreme conditions, where pit zips are not as necessary. Your response is very disappointing demonstrates to me you will never make a true softshell. It also highlights the exact issues I was pointing out and this companies obsession with and over reliance on gore-tex. A softshell ABSOLUTELY should have pit zips. They are for high output activities and absolutely can and should be used in winter climates where if you sweat you die. I recommend reading into the ECWCS (Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System) a project between your top competitor and the US government and the theroy behind it.

I returned the jacket because of the fitting. Compared to it’s previous model the Gamma LT Hoody has a much loser fit.

The gamma hoodie is one of the most durable pieces of outerwear I've ever owned. Its comfortable in just about any kind of cool weather as a standalone or over insulation. It's a bit heavy but I often bring it when I want a heavier softshell on the uptrack below -20c

Feels good, nice material, just needs wrist adjustments or elastic of some kind. Bought large as that is my size for everything, fits well everywhere apart from the arms which are far to long not to have some kind of velcro

Not like the 2 Gamma jackets purchased in the past

I have two older Gamma jackets and this new one feels a lot cheaper, with no lining or brushed fleece inside and fells rough or scratchy on the skin. Not sure what happened. The specifications have certainly changed from the former Gamma. Should have changed the name rather than use what we know as the Gamma jacket. It is more like the Sandstone jacket of another brand.
