how warm? can i replace my standard puffer jacket for UK and Switz weather

Hello there, great question! the Atom Hoody is a great mid‑layer for cool to cold conditions, but it doesn’t replace a full puffe, it’s designed to be versatile, breathable, and comfortable during movement, not as a deep‑winter outer layer. In UK weather, it works beautifully as your everyday jacket on chilly, damp days, and you can pair it with a light shell when it’s windy or rainy. For Switzerland, it’s perfect for cold autumn days, mild winter days, or as a warm mid‑layer under a shell when temperatures drop or you’re in the mountains. Think of it as a “do‑everything” insulation piece: warm enough for most daily use, but not a substitute for a true heavyweight puffer in harsher winter conditions.

Are the sleeves on the Atom insulated? I currently have the Atom LT and bought the Atom SL to replace but there is no sleeve insulation on the SL.

Hello there, thanks for your question. On the Atom SL Hoody, the sleeves are not insulated, this is intentional. The SL is designed as an ultralight, high‑output midlayer, so it uses uninsulated sleeves to improve breathability and reduce bulk. Your Atom LT (now simply called the Atom) does have insulated sleeves, which is why you’re noticing a difference between the two models. If you’re looking for a similar level of warmth to your previous LT, the Atom Hoody would be the closest equivalent, while the Atom SL is meant for much lighter, warmer‑weather use.

I’ve been using my Atom LT Hoody since 2016, and I have to say that some of the reviews about the newest model’s durability have me worried. Is it a vocal minority? It would be unfortunate if the Atom Hoody isn’t built to the same standards as before.

Does the Atom Men's Hoody have a "packing" option that reduces the size similar to the Cerium Men's Hoody which I also own. If not, please provide instructions on how best to pack the Atom Hoody so it occupies the least space in a backpack or suitcase.

Hello there, thank you for your question. The Atom Hoody does not have a dedicated stuff sack or self-stowing pocket like the Cerium Hoody. As a synthetic insulated jacket, the Atom is designed to retain warmth and performance in a wider range of conditions, while down-insulated garments such as the Cerium are typically more compressible and can pack down smaller. To minimize packed size, we recommend folding or loosely rolling the Atom Hoody and stowing it inside its hood before placing it in your backpack or suitcase. While occasional compression for transport is perfectly fine, we do not recommend storing the garment compressed for extended periods, as this can affect the loft and performance of the insulation over time. can i use spray to remove stains?

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. We don’t recommend using any stain‑removal spray on the Atom Hoody. For stains, we suggest the following care steps:
 
SPOT CLEAN  
- Dampen the stain
- Spot clean using diluted technical detergent
- We recommend 1 part Nu Technical Detergent diluted with 3 parts water  
- Alternatively, a dilution of dishwashing detergent can be used (great for oily stains)
 
PROCEED TO WASH  
- Clean the entire garment in warm water using detergent (we recommend Nu Technical Detergent)

I have a Beta SL and an Atom Hoody. I’ll be using these two pieces for my trip to Busan and Seoul, South Korea. Could you recommend how I should layer these two pieces for walking around the cities?

Hello, and thank you for your question. The Atom Hoody and Beta SL Jacket make a versatile layering system for city travel in Busan and Seoul. In cooler temperatures, wear the Atom Hoody underneath the Beta SL, using the Atom as your insulating layer and the Beta SL as your windproof and waterproof outer shell. If conditions are mild or you're walking for extended periods, you may find the Atom Hoody comfortable on its own, adding the Beta SL only when you encounter rain, wind, or cooler conditions. This layering approach gives you the flexibility to adapt to changing weather and activity levels throughout your trip while remaining comfortable.

Hello Bron, without your full body measurements, it is difficult for us to recommend what size you should wear for the Atom Hoody. We recommend that you take your body measurements such as chest, waist and hip measurements and use our sizing chart to find the size that fits you best. If your measurements are between sizes, select a larger size for a looser fit or a smaller size for a tighter fit.
