Amazing Jacket !!!

This is my most go to hardshell. Amazing protection from elements. If you are in downtown walking , on trails at park , hiking in forest , at alpine , doing bushwacking , skiing or snow shoeing this jacket would protect you from the elements. I have experienced it in the past. This jacket was so expensive, but the quality is there. It is worth every penny when you are in a severe weather scenario, and it literally saved my life.

Alpha SV's are the best!

I'm on my second Alpha SV, and each has lasted nearly 10 years. The construction is top notch, uses best Gore-Tex, and is still made in Canada (yay for workers being paid a living wage, which actually justifies the price.) Warranty and after care is unmatched in the industry!

I bought this jacket hesitant at first for the price. But, it’s exceeded my expectations and then some. Quality is amazing, it performs better than you expect. Even in the worst conditions it performs better than you expect.

Best Coat

I’ve had my coat since 2016 and never had an issues with it. Kept up on the little maintenance to keep it water resistant but other than that, this coat is amazing. Has lots of storage pockets, zippers are strong and durable and keeps all the wind and water out. Exactly what every outdoor person needs. Easy enough to be the top layer of almost anything!

It seems like the jacket starts to rip at the seems after a few years I brought my jacket in 2018 and the zipper broke and it ripped under the armpit on the right side, above the left side of the hood, and the drawstring piece came out on the bottom right side of the jacket.

I've been using mine pretty heavily for 5 years now (and taking good care of it) and it still works like new. I've never had a more durable jacket that I can rely on in harsh conditions.

Disappointing reliability.

Worked great for the first 5 years. Than welded seams start separating as well as material material delamination. Product failed in the same way and the same time frame as a similar jacket from MEC which costs 30%-40% of Alpha SV. Customer Service reviewed the failed item (took 6 weeks) and deemed that I should've washed it more often to prevent the failure.?? They offered a 125$ coupon.??? Thank you, Arc'teryx. No more interested in this brand.

So this is actually a fact. If you don’t wash your jacket the oils and dirt can dissolve the seams… looking at your jacket it’s clear that it’s very dirty… looking after your gear is important.

This is a well made goretex jacket with great features. The sizing of the jacket is different than I expected. I normally wear a large size but in this jacket the medium fit better. Overall I am pleased with the design

Arc'teryx Jackets are THE best. My previous AR Jacket lasted 10 years! It was finally time to move on, so I went with the SV, mostly because I liked the color options more. But is a phenomenal, sturdy material (though maybe a little loud). It does however run large (this seems to be across the board with Arc'teryx now. I've essentially had to size down every article of clothing from what I had perviously gotten. The new Small SV fits exactly like my old Medium AR.

This jacket is hard shell perfection! I don’t need to go on about how tough this jacket is, as this has been commented on many times. What really impressed me was how light and packable this jacket is for its capabilities! I will not likely use my mid weight hard shell again.
As expected, water proofness is a non-issue. Breathability is great. The fabric is very stiff, but not uncomfortable or problematic.
This jacket does fit large. I almost always wear a size large in Arcteryx jackets. I could likely have gone for a medium. I swim a little in this jacket unless I have an insulating piece under it. Im 6’2” and 190 lbs.
Overall, I love it. Highly recommended! Buy it and love it forever.

The best designed jacket badly made

I've owned 2 Alpha SV's and work them hard. I choose this product because of the detail and quality construction, and warranty, coz, like I said, I give them a hard time. The first jacket last 5 years and was replaced due to manufacturing faults. the second has just totally fallen apart after another 5 years, completely delaminated pit zips and hem draw cord... and what is offered as warranty? A 20% discount on a new product.
Sorry Arc'teryx but your claims of being tough just fell apart like your products.

Not as good of a warranty you'll expect

My Alpha jacket started delaminating few months ago, my first Arcteryx jacket to do so. I sent it for warranty, and the answer Arcteryx told me is that I contaminated the jacket with my sweat and for that reason it was not warranty. It was delaminating in 3 different places. They told me that I did not wash it enough, wich in fact I was washing every 3 to 5 uses.
No, I do not recommend this product.

10 Years and Still Going Strong

Bought new in 2013 and it has exceeded my expectations. From Alpine climbing to less demanding activities it has never let me down. Warm, dry and sometimes overkill, I know I made the right choice especially when I see current retail prices! I did have one issue with the bottom hem starting to delaminate after 9 years of use but Customer Service came through and after sending it in to be repaired it's now like new. Turn around time was not unreasonable. I empathize with my brothers who have had issues with this jacket but I can only give a fair and honest review which for me has been all positive.

For reference, my chest circumference is 43 inches and my weight is 185 lb.
