When Swiss freeskier Maude Besse earned a Wild Card Spot on the International World Freeride Tour, having set her sights on that goal at the age of 17, she charged out the gates into unexplored steep terrain and launched herself straight onto a podium finish. Having grown up in Bruson, five minutes from the chairlift, as the youngest daughter of a passionate alpine ski racer who dreamed of seeing at least one of his kids on the World Cup, Maude was on snow every day she could, literally as soon as school was out. She grew up on an organic farm, always deeply in touch with nature, where her family still grow potatoes, produce dairy products and grow medicinal herbs to supply Ricola. An illustrator and professional surveyor, Maude approaches the mountain as a blank page, always looking for the most interesting line and expression of what’s within her.
