Jared Elston is not actually mad, his face just naturally looks that way. Or so he says—because much of what he does on snow sure seems mad: like landing the first frontside 1260 ever thrown over Utah’s infamous 90-foot Pyramid Gap. That kind of boldness, mixed with finesse, is what makes the Montana-born big air and big mountain specialist one of the most well-rounded snowboarders in the sport. He’s likewise earned a place as the youngest rider on the Natural Selection Tour, and has been nominated as Torment magazine’s rider of the year. Known for going big, he draws his inspiration from skate and surf, and is most focused on putting out creative, style-infused video segments. He’s also a dedicated tinkerer, spending many hours welding in his garage alongside his brother, working on everything from sled decks to campers to motorbikes.
