Question 1

Is the SV a longer length than the AR

Dante · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for your question. Yes, the Beta SV is slightly longer than the Beta AR. In a size Medium, the Beta SV has a center back length of 71.5 cm (28.1"), compared to 69.0 cm (27.2") for the Beta AR, making the Beta SV approximately 2.5 cm (1.0") longer. This additional length is intended to provide increased coverage and weather protection, which aligns with the Beta SV's design for more severe mountain conditions. We hope this helps with your decision, and please let us know if you have any other questions about either jacket.

Question 2

Hi, I am 5’3, waist 28, chest 32, weight 53kgs. I usually wear size xs for tops and shirts. Which size should I go for if I want to get the jacket for mountaineering?

Joseph, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Kinjal, we are glad to hear that you are interested in our Beta SV Jacket. The Beta SV Jacket features a regular fit that is designed to accommodate layering while maintaining freedom of movement, so most guests find that their usual size works well. Based on the measurements you've provided and the fact that you typically wear an XS in tops and shirts, an XS would likely be the best place to start. That said, fit can vary depending on individual proportions and layering preferences. We recommend checking our sizing chart to see how your measurements correspond to our garments, and if you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up for a roomier fit or sizing down for a closer fit. If you live near one of our stores, we recommend trying the jacket on in person to determine the best fit. You can find the closest store using our Store Locator: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/stores/find-a-store.

Question 3

Is there an upper arm pocket for a scannable ski pass

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Tish, the Beta SV Jacket does not have an upper‑arm pocket for a scannable ski pass, as it’s designed for severe‑weather alpine use rather than skiing. If you’re looking for a jacket with a dedicated ski‑pass pocket and ski‑specific features, we recommend the Sentinel Jacket, which is purpose‑built for both resort and backcountry skiing.

Question 4

Normally i wear a small but i want to use it for hiking and skiing but if i ski in it i have to put smth thicker underneath it so i dont get cold but when i hike i dont want it to be oversized i am 1,70 m tall and weigh sbout 55-57 kg should i buy M or S?

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Claraaa, thank you for your question! Without your full body measurements it’s difficult to recommend a precise size, but the Beta SV Jacket has a regular fit, which is designed to accommodate layers comfortably. Since you’ll be using it for both hiking and skiing—and may want a thicker midlayer for colder ski days—sizing up could be a good option. To help you compare, we’re happy to share the measurements for both size S and M so you can match them with your own. We also offer free returns within 30 days, so you’re welcome to order both sizes, try them on at home with the layers you plan to use for each activity, and keep the one that feels right. Here are the measurements:

Size S
Chest width: 106.5 cm
Waist width: 104.5 cm
Hem width: 112.5 cm

Size M
Chest width: 111.5 cm
Waist width: 109.5 cm
Hem width: 117.5 cm

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. The Beta SV Jacket features a helmet-compatible StormHood that is designed to fit over most ski and snowboard helmets and is adjustable to help secure the fit both with and without a helmet. We hope this helps!

Question 6

I’m a size 8-10In women’s. Which size do you recommend?

Luna · Accepted Answer

Hi Ginger, thank you for your question and for checking out the Beta SV Jacket! Since sizing isn’t standardized across brands, we recommend using our sizing chart and comparing it to your own measurements. That said, we’re happy to share the measurements for the Beta SV Jacket in Medium and Large to help you decide.

Medium:
Chest width: 111.5 cm
Waist width: 109.5 cm
Hem width: 117.5 cm

Large:
Chest width: 119.5 cm
Waist width: 117.5 cm
Hem width: 125.5 cm

You can compare these measurements to a similar jacket you already own to get a sense of what will fit best. If you find yourself between sizes, we offer free returns within 30 days of purchase and delivery, so you’re welcome to order both sizes and return the one that doesn't fit. You can find the details here: https://arcteryx.com/us/en/help/returns. We hope this helps!

Question 7

Can this be used for skiing?

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Yes, the Beta SV Jacket can absolutely be used for skiing. Layering properly will be key to staying comfortable on the slopes. It will provide excellent protection from wind, snow, and wet conditions. That said, it does not include features such as a powder skirt or a dedicated ski pass pocket. If those features are important to you, you may want to consider our options designed specifically for skiing, like the Incendia Jacket, Rush Jacket, or Sentinel Jacket. We hope this helps!
