Question 3

Is it warm enough for rainy day in winter

Beth, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Ling, thanks for your question. The Serratus Hoody is designed for high-output mountain activities, prioritizing warmth and breathability for technical climbs. Whether it feels warm enough on a rainy winter day will depend on the temperature, weather conditions, and how active you'll be. For lower-output activities or colder winter conditions, we recommend adding additional layers and a waterproof shell as needed to achieve the level of warmth and weather protection you're looking for. For more personalized recommendations based on your intended use, please reach out to our Guest Services team. We'd be happy to help you find the best layering system for your needs.

Question 4

I would like this jacket to have a chest pocket (I use chest pockets for mobil phone or other communication devices) , the chest pocket could be inside or outside. Is this possible??

Nemo · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you so much for reaching out. The Serratus Hoody Men’s does not have a traditional chest pocket at the moment. Instead, the design features two external pockets positioned higher on the chest. These pockets replace standard hand pockets and are intentionally placed to ensure they remain accessible while wearing a harness. We truly appreciate you sharing how you use chest pockets for your phone or communication devices, and we’ll be sure to pass this feedback along to our design team.

Question 5

How is the fit. Is it similar to the gore tex shells (eg alpha sv)?

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Teddy, thank you for reaching out. The Serratus Hoody features our standard regular fit and fits similarly to many of our GORE-TEX shells, including the Alpha SV. That said, GORE-TEX shells generally fit slightly roomier to accommodate layering underneath. The Alpha SV will feel a bit more roomy than the Serratus Hoody. For comparison, here are the key measurements for a Men's size M (our base size):

Serratus Hoody:
Chest Width: 118.5cm
Waist Width: 111cm
Center Back Length: 76cm

Alpha SV Jacket:
Chest Width: 123cm
Waist Width: 115cm
Center Back Length: 78cm

If you wear a size M in the Alpha SV, you can expect the Serratus Hoody to have a similar fit but with a slightly trimmer silhouette. If you have any questions about sizing or layering, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Guest Services team. We hope this helps!

Question 6

Is it waterproof

Luna · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for your question. The Serratus Hoody is a breathable, durable softshell designed for technical climbing. While it is a weather-resistant jacket, the Fortius DW 2.0 fabric is not waterproof. If you’re looking for a waterproof jacket for climbing, we recommend exploring the Alpha jacket line. We hope this helps!

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. The bird logo on the chest and the word logo on the hood of the Serratus Hoody are both embroidered. We hope this helps!

Question 9

How small can the jacket be packed? Can it be packed in its own pocket or something like this? Can it be attached to the harness?

River · Accepted Answer

Hello there, the Serratus Hoody doesn’t pack into its own pocket, but it can be packed into its own hood for easier stowing. That said, packability isn’t its primary feature, so it may not compress as tightly as some other jackets. When packed, it’s roughly the size of a shoe. While it doesn’t have a built-in attachment for a harness, you could secure it externally with a carabiner or strap if needed.
