Question 1

Can you wear a pack or fast pack w/ this or is it to light of fabric?

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello there, thanks for your question. The Norvan Jacket is built from a 15 denier recycled nylon that’s exceptionally light and breathable, but it’s still designed to handle fast‑moving days with a running vest or light pack. For regular fast‑packing or running‑pack use, it should perform well as long as the pack isn’t heavily loaded or creating high abrasion points. If you plan to carry more weight or use a stiffer pack, we’d recommend keeping an eye on friction over time, as the fabric prioritizes low weight and mobility.

Question 3

Est-il possible de porte un sac de trail type 6-10 litres sous la veste ?

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Question 5

Hi, UTMB races have mandatory kit including jacket with min spec of "20000 Schmerber (20,000 mm) | RET value recommended: minimum of 13 | The jacket must have an integrated hood". Would the Norvan comply with UTMB? (for the course kit check). Thanks, Ian

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Ian, thank you for your question. All our Gore-Tex items, including the Norvan Jacket, have a 28000 mm water column rating. The Norvan Jacket also has an integrated hood. RET (resistance to evaporative heat loss = breathability) value results can vary wildly depending on temperature, humidity, pressure, and many other factors. This value is not standardized from brand to brand or test to test. Most testing doesn’t reflect real-world environmental conditions, so we decided not to use those values to rate the breathability of our items. That said, the Norvan Jacket Men's is designed to be a highly breathable mountain running jacket.

Question 6

Regularly washing Goretex jackets is critical to extending the life of the garment. Does reapplying the DWR on a regular basis extend the life expectancy?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Regular washing is the most important factor in maintaining the performance and longevity of a GORE-TEX jacket, as it removes dirt, oils, and contaminants that can block the membrane and cause the jacket to wet out. Reapplying the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) plays a supporting role by helping water bead off the face fabric so it stays dry and breathable longer. Think of DWR maintenance as a protective layer that supports overall performance and durability rather than something that fundamentally extends the garment’s lifespan on its own. Frequent washing plus periodic DWR reapplication is the best combination. We hope this helps!

Question 7

Is there an opening for a watch on both left and right arm?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Mads, thanks for reaching out. The Norvan Jacket features a wrist watch window on both sleeves, so you can choose whichever arm works best for you. We hope this helps!

Question 8

Is there a version of this jacket without the super-sized logos on the arms?

Seymour, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. At this time, we do not offer a version of the Norvan Jacket without the logos on the arms. The logo details are reflective, which helps increase visibility when running in low light. We hope this helps!

Question 9

Is ir a WIinter coat

River · Accepted Answer

Hello there, the Norvan Jacket is not designed as a traditional winter coat; it’s a highly technical, ultralight GORE‑TEX shell built for high‑output activities like trail running and fast‑moving mountain pursuits. Its focus is on breathable, waterproof protection in wet and variable conditions rather than insulation, so while it can be layered over warmer pieces in colder weather, it doesn’t provide the built‑in warmth of a winter coat. If you’re looking for a jacket specifically for winter insulation, we recommend exploring our down or synthetic insulated options such as the Thorium or Atom series, which are purpose‑built to keep you warm in cold temperatures.
