Go to all around jacket!

I really love this product. I have three of them and I never leave the house without one. It's great for when I'm rock climbing and I need to throw a quick layer on to stay a little warm. When it's cooler it out climbing, I'll wear this under a shell or a puffy to maximize the warmth. I really like that it keeps me warm when I'm wet too. I use this as part of my layering system when I'm ice climbing as well. This is my go to mid-layer and I pair it with a shell and a puffy when I'm belaying and I'll just go with just the Hoody and a shell for when I'm climbing.
I also just love having it on when I'm working in the office and the AC is blasting and I need to stay warm at my computer. Truly my favorite product!

The best midlayer out there. The Atom hoody is known as the go-to jacket across many sports and activities for a reason. It layers well, has a super warmth-to-weight ratio, has a helmet hood that stays put, and also looks great. I use my Atoms in every season - as a backpacking layer for cool mountain nights in the summer, an an outer layer during high output winter activities and an inner layer in cold temps. It's great as streetwear as well. I have very little criticism of this jacket - one might be that it can snag against trees if not careful.

This is a really great jacket. I’m 5’8 I have long arms…perfect fit. Material is light weight. I wear it for work. Really comfy. The color is a true navy. I do not regret my purchase. It’s warm, I do have to take it off some times but that justifies how great of an everyday coat it is.

Disappointed

So so so disappointed in the purchase of this jacket. After owning it for barely three months, wearing it a few times snowboarding and casually around town then hem on one side is full of holes and tears. You would think a hefty price tag and the reputation of Arc’teryx having quality gear would mean this would hold up but I’ll be going back to my HH jacket I’ve had for five years and put through the ringer and it’s still intact. I was very gentle with this new coat and I thought it would last longer but I’m pretty disappointed in the quality. I’m also disappointed in Arc’teryx when I emailed them about this.

New travel jacket!

I purchased this as a mid-weight travel jacket and it was just right. Went to Peru and both hiked and city-walked - temps at night were down to 44 F and up to 75 F during the day. The weight and warmth were perfect (I wore a light alpaca sweater with it for cooler nights and mornings). It squishes to next to nothing for packing. It will be coming with me to a trip to Scotland later this summer. I ordered the M (without layers I could do a small but didn't want it to be tight).

Light, packable and warm!

I love my Atom jacket. It is one of my favourite. It's warm, easy to pack either on multi-day hikes or on day trips as a layer. I've worn it before as a base layer on freezing snowboarding days up the mountain. All this to say, it's super versatile, comes in fun colours.
If you are curvy or have a bit of wider hips like me, I'd recommend sizing up for extra comfort if you want to wear layer under. For example, I normally am between a small or medium but I got a medium so it's not as hugging/form fitting.
This is also my jacket in the spring months where the mornings are chilly on my walking commute to the gym. Keeps me warm.

Love using this as a stand alone coat while running errands, walking the dogs, or a light hike. For colder days this is under all my shell jackets or heavy pieces as I run cold. Even with layers, it vents well. Love the fit.

Bring back the 2020 length

I absolutely LOVE this jacket. I had the 2020 model in XS and loved the length but don't fit this jacket due to my shoulders getting more muscular. I have the 2025 model in XS and the shoulders feel great but HATE how much more length there is. I am hoping/waiting for the atom hoody to return to a shorter length. I am seriously so sad that I cannot wear my older model anymore and hate tucking the extra length in the newer model so that it's an appropriate length on me.

I would like to make a correction after discussion with a customer service rep, I learned that the preferred back length of the atom hoody women's xs is 60.9 cm from the 2019 model NOT 2020 (2020 was closer to 65 cm back length). It would be awesome if the atom hoody was offered in "short, regular, and tall" to accommodate the varying torso lengths out in the world. As a petite woman with a short torso, it is extremely difficult to find clothes that fit. Money is not an issue if I am in love with the product. I am hoping I don't have to wait another 5 years for an arc'teryx jacket to be offered with a back length of 60.9 cm for women's xs.

Wow, they literally ruined this jacket. Bad job Arc'Teryx in ruining the Atom by using the fabric of a reusable plastic bag for this "revised" version of the Atom.
It's longer and slightly bigger now.

Truly the best all around hoody you could ask for. Great for camping, hikes, belaying, mid-layer for skiing, and just general everyday wear. A perfect mix of comfortable warmth and breathable side panels makes it the right pick for many different situations. Also super comfy, great length to warm your entire torso, and the hood closes up nicely to protect from wind. I own two now and couldn't recommend them more!

Lovely jacket

I’ve been using the Atom Hoody Jacket for hiking and I really love it. The fit is perfect — comfortable and not too bulky. It’s super breathable, and even with a backpack on, my back stayed dry. It keeps me warm but doesn’t get too hot when I’m moving.
Great jacket overall — light, comfy, and works really well outdoors.

Perfect Fit & A Staple in My Closet

I absolutely love my Atom and wear it all the time, it’s perfect for chilly weather. As a 38D, finding jackets that fit me comfortably can be a challenge, but the stretch in the chest makes all the difference. I got a Medium, and the fitted design hugs my body in all the right places without feeling restrictive. This has quickly become a staple in my closet, and I find myself reaching for it again and again.

Terrible material, change back to the old one!

wanted to share my disappointment with the new material used in this year’s Atom Jacket. I’ve been a loyal customer and loved the previous versions—I even purchased two in different colors last year. They were incredibly soft, comfortable, and versatile throughout most of the year.
However, the new material feels noticeably cheaper. The moment you touch it, you can tell it has lost that silky, high-quality feel. Instead, it now has a texture that feels more like plastic, which is a stark contrast to what made the Atom Jacket so great.
I understand that you’ve switched to FO0 material and incorporated more recycled fabrics, which I appreciate from a sustainability standpoint. However, at a price point of £260, I expect a jacket to still feel premium and comfortable, regardless of the materials used.
I hope you take this feedback into account, as the change in fabric significantly impacts the overall experience of the product.

Better insulation needed if it's the flagship mode

So I had an Atom LT in the early 2000's, which is long gone now, and an Atom AR for the past 4-5 years. They were both fantastic aside from the zipper on the LT as it aged and the shallower pockets compared to other brands. Both faded a bit with usage and the AR got a good snag or two that I had sewed up. I decided it was time to replace my current AR since the Alpenglow colour caught my eye.
My thoughts for the current version are that the sizing is better for more layering underneath, the zip pockets are a bit better sized/deeper and the hood is a bit larger for helmets. However, I am disappointed with the chosen insulation thickness for the base model Atom. The AR is/was infinitely warmer. Even the LT, on which this seems to be based since it has the side panels, was warmer. My arms have been cold and it feels very thin. It really needs more loft. I thought they changed the insulation because the old stuff would pack down over the years and this newer insulation would maintain itself, but the salesperson told me that's not why they changed it. It seems less breathable - does anyone else concur? My husband has an SL and the revised Atom seems like a compromise between the former LT and SL. Compared to my The North Face Ventrix (3 or 4 years old), it is definitely leaner on the insulation, and heavier on the price point.
I haven't worn it enough to put it through its paces. haven't done anything high output to truly test the breathability. I haven't yet worn it on a blowing snow day or in rain. I am anticipating it will be a valuable piece in my arsenal through spring-summer-fall, just not in winter.

FWIW you might consider the Proton. I really recommend it; in my experience it is much better than the Atom in basically every way.

I bought the jacket today on ski holidays, so I can‘t say anything about how warm/ isolating it is, but I can say I love the fabric, the color and the fit ( ok sleeves could definitely be a bit longer, but as I bought the jacket 1 size larger than I usually wear, also the length of the sleeves go better for me) I am quite tall with 1.75 and have quite an athletic body and wanted the fit not too right. I can‘t wait wearing it tomorrow on the slopes as a baselayer and in spring on the golf course!
