This jacket has great drawstrings that make it fut well. Ibought the Leaf Alpha bibs in a different color. It's guaranteed to keep you warm and dry. Great warranty too.

I have used the alpha sv for many years now. My very first alpha which is still going strong is over 15 years old. I have used the alpha on numerous high altitude climbing expeditions as well as on long treks such as the camino del norte. It is a super jacket that provides excellent protection. It is light and lives in my rucksack.

I'm a farmer, fisherman and a hunter. This jacket is the best piece of equipment I have for all of those occupations. Working 18 hours in the rain to get harvest in is made a little more bearable by a jacket that keeps me dry. It fits well and allows for a thick wool underlayer but isn't baggy. A big plus is that the main pockets are just between your chest and belly. This is great if you wear a hip-pack or belt with tools. Tan colours would be nice to have.

I was very upset to find that my jacket was stolen out of my checked bags at the airport on a recent trip. Obviously I had to replace it. There’s no other jacket I could ever use. I’ve had one of the SV Alphas for 8 years now and the only reason I replaced it was because someone else clearly wanted it more. The price is steep but if you keep it safe you’ll never need another. How many jackets do you need to buy that are cheaper and replace before you can justify the cost?

Diese hochwertige Jacke ist jeden Euro wert. Sie ist hochpreisige, aber allein die Materialauswahl und Verarbeitung rechtfertigen ihn allemal. Nutze sie jetzt ein Jahr und nehme sie hart ran. Sie sieht noch wie neu aus und ist dicht wie am ersten Tag. Der Schnitt ist super und lässt noch weitere Lagen darunter zu, z.B. die Atom LT oder gar die Thorium. Dabei ist die Bewegungsfreiheit immer noch vorhanden. Werde sie wieder kaufen.

Truly incredible craftsmanship and the patterning/fit is excellent. This is the perfect Gore-Tex jacket for hard-users - you know who you are: ice climbers, skiers, mountaineers ... round-the-world motorcyclists. A verifiable fortress. Probably not an appropriate piece for your average user due to weight, packability and the stiff, loud N100p-X 3L GORE-TEX Pro fabric.

This is a wonderful single quiver jacket. It can stow & go in a pack while providing the confidence of the best weather protection along with the comfort of Gore-Tex Pro™. Outer pocket gussets provide ample storage & inner pockets are more icing on the cake. If your skiing or boarding specifically, then I recommend the Sidewinder for the longer hem, an additional chest pocket, & powder skirt, but if your pursuits are more varied, i.e. backcountry climbing, snowshoeing, or hiking then this is a more durable (N100p-X face fabric) yet lighter weight, ergonomic option. A meticulously crafted jacket that screams quality, functionality, & durability. I'm 5'10" & 165 lbs (178cm/75kg) the medium fits me generously; I have long arms (+4 ape index).

a great product no doubt. yes its expensive but do you wanna buy a jacket for $250-300 and need a new one every 2 years or do you want a more expensive jacket that'll lest well past any other rain jacket out there. if all you care for is waterproofing and a low price then you can get a Grunden or rubber Helly Hansen jacket, but you'll be sweating like crazy. this jacket is breathable, super waterproof, and very durable. im an adventure tour guide on Vancouver Island (whale watching, kayaking, hiking, fishing, rafting, biking and more) and its been my best gear purchase to date.

I love this jacket, I bought it in the blue which looks awesome. I put this jacket to the test in CO this year. On a recent ski trip, it snowed non stop and was paired with up to 60 mph winds at times. The hood fit nicely over my helmet and covered me completely. I was warm and dry every time I wore this jacket. There are vents under the arms to adjust airflow as well which came in handy. I paired this jacket with a base layer shirt and Arcteryx Atom LT and was very comfortable. I feel the shells run large. I’m 6’3 215 lbs and typically wear an XL jacket in the Atom, but the XL in this shell was enormous. Sized down to a Large and has a good fit

This jacket is superb, couldn’t fault it at all. It is expensive but you are getting a superior product, the best there is.

After much consideration I decided to make a purchase of this highly regarded jacket. The cost was justified by the level of manufacturing quality that has gone into making it. Twenty years of continuous development and four hours in the making. I've only had it a short while and not yet put it to any tests. But, I know it will withstand anything the British weather can throw at it. It also commands a respect when wearing it and other people recognise the name. I'm not an expert climber or mountaineer but I enjoy the great outdoors. Having a jacket of this quality gives me total reassurance.

I’ve fallen down/off ledges, slid down on my back on a rough ice face, and fallen on concrete with this jacket and it still looks brand new. This jacket not only will keep you dry and comfortable in all weather condition but will last you a life time. However for more casual use with the similar durability I would recommend the beta SV due to the fact the pockets are more convenient for casual daily use.

J'ai longuement hésité a acheter cette veste, car le prix était quand même très élevé pour mes moyens. Je dois avouer que je ne regrette pas, je fais en effet toutes mes activités de montagne avec : Raid a ski / Rando pédestre / Raquettes / ....Finalement ce n'est peut être pas la plus légère mais cela évite d'avoir a emporter une autre veste, donc cela revient au même au niveau du poids et cela évite de ce poser des questions sur le choix du bon matériel pour la journée. Pour moi le must c'est son utilisation en raid a ski sur plusieurs jours : Quelque soit les conditions et son utilisation c'est du solide / Respirant / le porte du baudrier est aisé / Protège du vent de façon incroyable ce qui favorise la chaleur. Le seul 'défaut' (c'est presque de la mauvaise foi) serait le bruit du tissus pour l'observation animalière. BB from France

Bought this jacket in 2011, it is now 2019. I am finally considering replacing it with a brand new Alpha SV. I would estimate a total of 1500-1800 full days of wear in western Norwegian climate. I use it every day in fall-Winter-spring. It even have seen use as a enduro jacket (motorcycle) Repaired the main zipper twice, and re-glued the Gore-Tex on the lower back once. Removed the foam rings at the bottom edge. Replaced the inner lining at the edge of the arms due to wear. Patched a tear on the arm with OEM fabric. I use a company called Gore-Tex service on my home island to do all the work. A small company with the highest possible standards of workmanship. It is still waterproof. It looks dirty when it is clean, and the colour on the arms, shoulders and upper back is very pale. (the jacket was/is blue) I have only hand washed it with proper Gore-tex cleaner. In my head, this is important to the insane long life this jacket has had. I like the idea of something that is made to last. Not many things is anymore. This jacket is made for someone like me. I absolutely love it.

This thing is nuts. I live in Oklahoma. It gets cold here too. I've layered this over a combination of a synthetic baselayer, a delta lt fleece, an atom lt midlayer, and a Gamma MX softshell. Obviously, barring the end of the world, I don't need all those at once. However, it's nice to know that I can throw a basically a mobile shelter over whatever I'm wearing, at a moments notice, regardless of the climate. This thing is light. It's bombproof. It's also super loud, especially with the hood up. But what sold it to me is that it's totally weatherproof, more than any of its competitors, and while it won't be as breathable as thinner Arcteryx shells, it can keep you a lot more dry than an umbrella in a sudden downpour, even if its 90f out. Unzip the pits, Drop the hood, you're good. And if you wanna climb K2, this will do that too.

I'm 6 foot 3 and 150lbs. Large jacket fits slightly large but still fits great. Quality made. I will definitely by more from Arcteryx.

Bought the jacket from REI. Had it for a little over a year. Went skiing for the first time this season and the zipper pull came off. Called Arcteryx and they said it was a 4-6 week turn around time. My reaction is that's more than halfway through the ski season. I asked if they could expedite. It's only a zipper. No can do. They are too busy with warranty repairs. I guess they have a lot of quality issues. I'd expect a week turn around time on a $750 jacket. I do recommend REI. even though it was out of there 1 year warranty they took the jacket back and gave me a new one.

You can not spend whole winter with only one shell. No matter how good you can layer yourself, you better have SV JACKET to start a Stormy winter day in the mountains . This garment is the'' Core gear ''of those days .Colour Stellar is fascinating

Ich besitze bereits die Vorgängerjacke seit ca. 20 Jahren. Die Jacke benutze ich zum Skifahren, zum Segeln und zum Wandern und Radfahren. Tolle, sehr leichte und strapazierfähige Kleidung.

I have been buying arcteryx for roughly 15 years. Love the products and recommend them to everyone. So when the time came to send my Alpha LT in for service they kindly said we stopped making that jacket so pick from the lot and pay the difference, which I did and paid about $300 extra for this piece of plastic. First of all they all run big. My old shells are mediums and fit smaller than a S now, not to happy about that but w/e... then I wore this out in CO for a fly fishing trip. No harsh weather just needed a shell to lock in all the heat.... What I didnt know is my arcteryx bookbag would transfer color (black from the straps) to the jacket .... DAY 1! .... so not tohappy about that. I proceed to contact Customer support who tells me to apply Dawn dish soap and then states I would have to re apply DWR because this would essentially strip all of it away. They then told me to use Nikwax, which comes to find out isnt even good for their jackets. I found this out after visiting the local Arcteryx store. The kicker now is I washed my jacket using the arcteryx cleaner but now the jacket barely protects from water. BEfore all water would bead up and roll off, now the water gets absorbed into the jacket. All after 1 use in the field which is more like one use in a river next to offices, the road and other shops so not really the field.... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

I can’t believe how much I love this jacket. The only thing that kept me away from it at first was the price. Not because I wouldn’t pay it but because I don’t make a lot of money. This jacket has kept me out of the elements of all angles. It’s waterproof, wind proof, has great pockets easy to access in the front rather than normal zones where gear would be. This jacket if very well thought through.

Pour ceux qui aiment la nature je recommande absolument cette coquille. Je fais de la randonnée, de l'alpinisme et plusieurs autres activités dans la nature. J'adore !!!!
