Best Travel Backpack

I mainly use backpacks for travel and I have used 4 different backpacks at this point. The Mantis 26 is the best backpack I've used for travel. I recently went to Japan with this backpack and it checked all my requirements. The main opening is big enough to fit everything we needed for 2 people. It's nice that it can zip down to almost a clam-shell style so it's easier to grab things. The shoulder straps have lots of padding so they were comfortable the whole time I wore it. At first, I thought the plastic interior on the back of the backpack would bother me but it turned out to be a great benefit as it protected my back from anything hard in my backpack that may poke me such as an umbrella. It has 2 water bottle holders which is great since I can carry for 2 people. The side pockets provide extra room to carry more things that don't get in the way of the main pocket. The backpack also looks great. The only small downside I have with this bag is the long straps that hang down.

Arc'teryx Mantis 26L. Best bang for your buck bag

EXCELLENT !every day bag for me especially commuting going to work. Perfectly fits my knife bag and extra shirt on it. I can also put my Arc'teryx jacket inside.. One thing I love the most on these bag are there's a lot compartment features in it that I can put on my some other stuff like head phone and my portable charger. May be soon I'll try to used and try this on a hiking trip. But as of the moment I really like for my work bag. Oh lastly, the strap below is useful for me especially when I'm bringing my work clogs at work I just fine with me. Very ergonomic. Well done ✅👍

Poor quality. The zipper broker after one year

After one year the zipper broke. Arcteryx is not what it used to be. Now, it is just an expensive brand with medium quality. Sad. I still have an old Blade20 (for more than 7 years... and it looks like new). The new ones... do not last.

Amazing Space In The Main Pocket

What I love most about this backpack is how spacious the main compartment is. In my 26L bag, I was able to easily fit my laptop, lab textbook, iPad, and even a leather coat—without having to force anything in. Despite being fully packed, the exterior still looked sleek and stylish, without any signs of being overstuffed. I also appreciate that the waist straps are removable, and the back panel fits comfortably against my back when I wear it.
My only small gripes are that the hydration sleeve is a bit too tight, making it difficult to open wide enough to fit anything, and the main straps, while durable, are a little on the thin side.
For reference I am 5 feet 6 inches tall

Too many straps

Too many straps for day to day use. I find myself having to tie straps around themselves so they dont whack into me while waking around the city. The zippers are super strong, and the inside is good, but way too many straps

Overall, a really nice backpack. My daughter loves it for school. Hope you make more school friendly backpacks ,the size is great would be nice if you could make a 30L like this as well . Or even deeper to fit more textbooks in in the 26 L

This pack is built well, and nicely designed, the different pockets provide a tone of sorted storage room for all you different things. Ive just used it to travel but can see it being a great day pack or overnight pack for hikes etc.

Plenty of room and simple design

I bought this for comminuting for work and school but was able to use it for camping and hiking Mt Townsend in Washington State. The simple design and having plenty of room to fit my jacket, food/snacks an two water bottles was great and having the small pocket to hold my wallet and keys was amazing. This backpack is versatile and being able to use it for multiple activities .

Poor Durability

Arc’teryx were not willing to do anything about this issue and said it’s normal wear and tear. Disappointing that a bag designed for the outdoors can’t handle a college classroom. This is a design issue, as the point where the plastic back supports meets the bottom of the bag is not properly reinforced. I suppose asking the bag to handle the abrasion of a carpeted auditorium is unreasonable.

Bad quality shoulder straps.

After about 8 months of use, the straps began to show seam chipping. Not much use, about one trip out a month. The capacity of this bag doesn't feel like it matches the weight his straps can hold. If you want to fill it up to 26L, you need to keep an eye on the condition of the straps.

Couldn't recommend it more

Honestly one of the best backpack I've ever bought. Persuaded about 5 of my friends to get one too because I don't stop talking about it- and they all love it too. It fits so much in there, it's marked as 26L but feels more like a 35L. It just seems to fit everything + more.
It has lots of compartments that are so useful, including a key holder, trinket pocket and adjustable mesh bottle holders. It's also compatible with hydration bladders, but the internal pocket is great for a laptop too.
I also have a weak shoulder due to injury, and most backpacks are quite uncomfortable for me. But, I've had no issues with this one- it's made carrying all my stuff on my daily commute so much easier.

Solid backpack, worth it

Love this backpack, holds everything I need and more, while not appearing bulky or busting at the seams. Only problem is the the shoulder straps are very thin, which gets uncomfortable when carrying heavy things, and the waist buckles are a little long so when you're not using them they swing around and get caught on things.

Product is good, but not long lasting. The design, build quality, style, are fantastic. I used it almost everyday for a year, on 100+ flights. Now it has a few holes in the material. I believe the material could be a bit thicker in places.

Just not the same

Too bulky. Not as streamlined as the version I have from 5 years ago. Top pocket small and immaterial. I like the removable hip belt. I have liked my pack for everyday use. This one , in it's design, seems to attempt more than it is capable of.

Things are not parallel inside, placed on one side, the shoulder strap is very bad, often sliding down, which is very troublesome, I don't want to have to buckle all the straps together every time I carry this bag, but if I don't, the straps will fall off and keep me very busy,
