I grew up in Vesterålen, North of Norway, surrounded with high mountain peaks, midnight sun and northern lights. In my fathers bag pack I early got the feeling of sliding on snow in the local skiresort. At the age of two I got my first pair of skis, and since then skiing has been an essential part of my life. I moved away from home at the age of 16 to be able to combine school with as much skiing as possible, at that time as an alpine racer.
The leap from racing to freeriding was a natural process. Skiing no longer gave me the pleasure that it used to, and I missed the freedom I once associated it with. Entering the backcountry gave me the freedom and the joy of skiing back. I love the moment when you’re studying a mountainside, planning your way up and down, memorizing different options and visualize how it’s going to be.
As a freerider I travel around the world. I’m visiting places I never would have seen if it wasn’t for my passion for skiing. Meeting new people, collecting lines down mountainsides and memories. I hope that I’ll always find a way to live in the moment. To enjoy every day I get the opportunity to learn new things and meet new people. That’s what skiing is for me.
Signing with Arc’teryx is a big step for me. It means that I have the best equipment for long days in the mountain, whatever wheater, but also that I’m part of a team where I can learn and be inspired by great athletes on the team. I’m looking forward to get to know the team, and getting my first deliverance from Arc’teryx.
