Favorite pair of shorts!

I use these for climbing and hiking and they are great. If you have bigger thighs and a smaller waist these fit perfectly. They are long enough for me at 175 and not tight on the thighs. shorts are really difficult when you have a big difference in your waist to hip ratio.

The perfect hiking short

These are the best shorts! They're long enough that they don't ride up. Lightweight and quick drying. They have perfect pockets and a built-in belt. I am a Rock Climbing Guide and wear these almost every day all summer long. The legs are long enough to keep me cool and still be comfortable under a harness.

Shorts are always really tricky for me - they always bunch up and make me feel self-conscious. These are moderate length and very roomy in the thigh area. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that I'd prefer them to be a tad longer.

Not a good fit over curves

I bought the same size in these that I wear in all Arc'teryx pants, and it was somehow too big in the waist (by quite a bit) and then EXTREMELY tight in my hips. Had to return, which was sad as I loved the blue color. Very bizarre sizing on this.

Great cut, great fabric

I bought these for hiking and am really happy with them. I have bigger hips and thighs, and the fit is comfortable and flattering on me. The fabric is light but strong, and very quick-drying. Although I miss having hand pockets, I do like how the pocket placement holds my items securely where they won't fall out or get sat on.

BEST SHORTS FROM ARCTERYX EVER

Not kidding. The second I put these on I was like "YES". I have bigger hips compared to the typical climber build that Arc'teryx has tended to accommodate in the past, and these are SO perfect. They are roomy in the best way, fantastic material, breathable and light. I wear them in the city and hiking, I got two colours (the black and orange). The pockets are so good and we LOVE a drawstring!! And the high waist is fab. Everyone I've talked to who has them is in love with them.

Versatile, lightweight and very comfortable!

These shorts are very versatile; I use them primarily for walks/hikes and are also great for working out in at the gym since they're a good length (not too short) and don't ride up. They are also a lightweight, breathable material that is super comfortable and feel great against the skin. I also personally love the minimal waistband design which adds extra comfort.

Love these shorts, bought another color

I bought BOTH the black and blue 00 version of these shorts about two weeks ago after seeing someone wearing them in the gym and I absolutely love them. I am a petite climber (waist 24”) and I tend to have a hard time finding shorts that fit, especially looser fit. These are great, running very true to size and sit nicely as a higher rise with an adjuster inside to cinch more if needed. They are super lightweight and breathable without sacrificing on quality or comfort (no loud fabric and holds up to activities). The 5” length makes them long enough to be seen under longer shirts without making them so long that they are restrictive when high stepping. I love the two zipper front pockets, I can more than easily fit my iphone 13 and pop socket and zip no problem. The only thing I would say is there is no back pockets, but the rest more than makes up for it. If you are on the fence, buy these!!! I’d have gotten the orange too if they weren’t already sold out.

I live in these shorts

Love, love, love. Super lightweight, dry easily, perfectly sized pockets allow me to slip in credit cards, keys, snacks, my phone (not all at once of course). I did a 6 week biking trip through Europe and these were my go-to shorts. Easy to wash, didn't take up much room, don't ride up when I am walking, perfect length, didn't have to worry about theft in the front pockets, very flattering. Arcteryx, you nailed it.

Too High Waisted

This short is not a great fit, waist is extremely high and to get the right fit in the hips the waist ends up being snug for me. Fabric is amazing and everything else but the sizing like a lot of the new items from Arc'teryx do not have the great fit it use to.

Fantastic shorts

I bought these on a whim, expecting to have to return them as women’s shorts are usually a difficult fit for me. Not so with these. The moment I tried them on I was sold. Being 5’5” with an unusually large waist to hip ratio, I was delighted with the comfort, fit and style. The fabric is very soft, stretchy and light as a feather. The length is perfect for high mountain hiking in warm weather but would easily be at home in town. I wanted ease of moment without too much exposure in trail running short shorts.I particularly like the slight flare which give these shorts style. Easily the best shorts I own and thoroughly recommended.

Not a flattering fit

I’m sure some people would really enjoy the fit of this product, but I do not. I purchased a size 8, I’m usually a size 6. However, after reading a few of the reviews I figured if would be better to size up. The waist fit me, but the legs are very wide. I looked like I was wearing a skirt instead of shorts. It also is a higher-waist fit. I own the alroy 7” shorts and LOVE them. I was hoping these would be similar but are not. I am wondering if the gamma shorts are a replacement for the alroy? I am considering trying those instead. However, I really wish I could just get a second pair of alroy shorts. They are the perfect length and fit. I also like where the pocket is on the side as it is much more comfortable to put my phone in than a front pocket.

Best backpacking shorts ever!

I live in North Carolina and just put these shorts to the test on a humid backpacking trip. They were long enough to keep my sticky thighs apart and very light and comfortable. I normally wear a 4 but sized but based on reviews and am glad I did. A 4 would probably have fit fine, but I tend to bloat when I’m camping and appreciated the wiggle room. :)

Immediate YES!! I have bigger hips and thighs and these fit perfectlyyyy. I love the high waist, the drawstring, technical material, pull-on style, and the length. My new favourite shorts!

I got these shorts two weeks ago and have been living in them. They are SO comfortable and flattering. They feel like the perfect fabric weight for summer temperatures. Even when working hard and sweating in them they don't get too hot or stick to you. I've worn them casually, hiking, climbing outside, and climbing inside. I really like the pockets - easy to access and more than big enough to hold a phone. The location also works well with a harness - the opening to the pocket hits above the leg loop so the zipper pull won't be annoying. So far they show no signs of wear at all, despite all of the climbing and brushing against abrasive surfaces such as rock. They will definitely be my go-to shorts this year. I am usually a 2 or a 4 in bottoms and I got a 4 here. I am glad that I did so they are a little on the looser side and will stay cooler in the summer.

Comfy, cute, great pockets, packable & light

I picked up these shorts for rock climbing and hiking, and they are quickly becoming my favorite spring and summer shorts. I usually have issues with shorts being too short for high stepping on climbing routes without showing my underwear off, uncomfortable to wear with a harness, or not breathable enough to sweat in and dry out quickly. These shorts solve all of these problems and more. The two pockets both fit a large cell phone easily and the pocket falls in a comfortable location that won't annoy you while you walk. I am normally a 2/4 in Arc'teryx pants (5'5", 120lbs, athletic body type with fairly straight waist/hip area), and I like the fit of these in the size 6 for a relaxed fit that hits more mid-rise, and size 4 as a higher waisted more trim fit. These shorts don't ride up and stay put, and the waist band doesn't fold over weird like some other shorts do. The material is great for hot days, breathable and dries quickly. They are light and packable and will be great for moving fast in the alpine. I can't think of a more perfect pair of shorts! Would love to see more colors someday, and maybe a pant version of these that could work for MTB or hiking.

Perfect lightweight shorts for summer

Almost Perfect

I purchased my usual size (8) and upon trying them on I worried I'd purchased the wrong size - I got them up to my butt and had to wriggle to get them over my hips/butt. Once on, they're super high waisted (a bit higher than belly button) so the fact they were harder to get on makes them stay up and on your waist and end up being pretty darn great. A short is good for me if I don't notice them, so I took them for a hike in the heat and for the most part didn't have to tug or adjust along the way. I wish they were like an inch longer to help combat thigh rub which was happening a bit on the climbs but fine on the decent. They're lightweight, quick drying and don't have a button/zipper/snap to deal with. They're not very easy to get on and off but once they're on, they're great.

Sizing is absolutely ridiculous

I just wanted to comment that the sizing on this item is absolutely ridiculous. Arcteryx really needs to do some serious reworking of their sizing. According to the size chart on this item, someone with a 25 inch waist and 32 inch hip should be in size 0. The model’s measurements show she has a 25 inch waist and a 32 inch hip and she’s wearing a size 6…. I am average height and weight in the general population. I normally wear a 28/29 Jean size, and by this logic, I would be like a size 12…again, absolutely insane.

On top of it being impossible to order online, it also doesn’t make sense. You are a company that is supposed to support the lifestyle of strong athletic people. Why is everything so small!! I am a size 6 at every other clothing company, but according to this items sizing I would be a size 12. I am average height and weight for women, I should be in the middle of your sizing, not almost in the largest size you offer!

I ordered these without trying on before and thought I would give them a try. I went up a full size based on the size chart - and I'm glad I did. I typically wear a size 4 (27) in jeans and ordered a size 8 in these. They fit great around the hips and thighs. I love the waistband and how comfortable it feels. It's easily adjustable if required and the length is perfect. They're lightweight and durable - I highly recommend.

These shorts are just okay. A little baggy in the crotch up front and very high waisted. Which I like high waist but this sits almost above my belly button. I do like the length and will keep them only because I already took off the tag.
