Super good quality and keeps me dry

I bought the Beta Jacket with the intention of using it as a mountain activity jacket. It repels water and snow extremely well and also works as a great wind breaker in high elevations. Love that the hood fits over a helmet and the elastic drawstrings secure it in place!

J’ai acheté le Beta AR l’an dernier et je m’en suis servi autant en hiver en randonnée avec un atom en sous-couche ou juste comme coupe-vent et imperméable. Très résistant et s’adapte à toute genre d’activité. Vaut le prix!

Beta AR. Gets ‘er done!

I bought this after years of drooling over it and it did not disappoint. I wondered why a shell could be so expensive but after wearing it , the old adage “ you pay for what you get” rang true. My first experience using it was on a day at Silverstar. It was blowing , wet and foggy - not ideal. We were getting soaked riding up the chair all day. That said, I remained dry underneath and never chilled. I paired it with the cerium and it was a nice combo - warm but no bulk. The rest of the week offered completely different conditions- glorious sunshine. The jacket was great in that too with its ventilation . I removed the cerium and with an only a base layer, the jacket was just fine. I’m 5’2, fairly athletic build and found a small fit nicely. My arms are shorter than most Id say but it wasn’t a problem with the Velcro’s at the wrist. I put the jacket overtop of the mitten and Velcro’ed it around the wrists for a nice seal. Can’t complain about the Beta AR. I have it in a blue - looks good with black pants. Overall very versatile and stylish

Rock-solid rainwear

I bike commute in all weather, and this jacket is what makes it possible. It's light and packable, so that I never mind shoving it in my pannier. And it sheds water like crazy on those wet Vancouver days. The cut is great for biking - lots of ease around the shoulders to get into that stretched out position, and plenty long enough in the back that my waistband isn't exposed. The cut and placement of features is as close to perfect as I can imagine. The one downside: they are durable, to a point. All of these jackets start to delaminate after 6-7 years (of admittedly hard use). But they work so well, I can't imagine replacing mine with anything else. Pricy, but still cheaper than a car!

What a jacket! Best purchase ever!

My husband and I picked up these jackets for our vacation to NFLD. Kept us safe from all the elements! I continue to use this jacket with an Arcteryx lightweight fleece under for my winter snowshoe adventures! Best invested ever! It has accompanied me all over Canada- all seasons- all sorts of adventures!

Durable and waterproof!

This jacket will keep you dry without fail! I've used it through many rainy PNW days this summer and look forward to using it for backcountry skiing this winter. It feels burly and durable. Pit zips are nice, hood can cinch up, bottom drawstring keeps rain and snow out, sleeves are long enough to not ride up when moving my arms. A medium fits well over other layers.

Purchased this jacket for the same reasons we all do...to keep warm and dry while being comfortable! And, it did not let me down. I like longer sleeves and a decent length in the back while being kept dry and snug. I did order a larger size than I am due to my love of oversized clothing and this did not let me down and I'm very impressed with the engineering that has gone into such a fantastic bit of kit.

Not waterproof. I have followed all cleaning and re-goretexing recommendation from arcteryx for this jacket, spent way to much on special products to make it waterproof and have even sent my jacket back to arcteryx once. Nothing seems to make it water proof. Other then that love the color and fit. But this jacket just sits in the back of closet 99% of the time, basically a very very expensive fashion piece.

I was so excited when I saw the Beta AR jacket now comes in the Heritage color. I was very disappointed to find out that it is only available in men's sizing. A person should wear bright colors when in the mountains in case they get lost. I t is easier to be located if you are wearing a bright color. Please come out with a bright red color for women.

Je peux seulement y mettre de minces choses. Le model Alpha avec ces poches centrées et son capuchon stormHoog serait plus approprié pour moi, malheureusement il n'y a pas ma grandeur.

Ripped on first fall skiing

I bought this jacket last august (2022) and wore it a couple times before ski season, I wore the jacket about 5 times while skiing, all was great, awesome waterproofing and great helmet cover, lots of room to layer, the drop hood kept my neck warm.
In March of this year I fell while skiing for the first time that season and got a bunch of nasty tears on my sleeve and side. I was hoping it would just be light scratches at least, but no, it ripped up all of the fabric. The gore-tex pants from a different brand held up just fine though.
I only given a small discount to put towards another jacket, so hopefully the SV will have a lifetime longer than ~15 wears.

Love the construction quality and hood details. Unfortunately the the jacket length didn’t cover my puffer that I plan to wear as mid layer. If mfg. had provided length spec, a return would have been avoided. Would have loved to keep it.

Terrible Quality and Custom service

Brought as a thanks giving gift for my Mom, Just check with her recently and find a part of the out layer and Gore-tex membrane is not good, She said she just used once and it did not touched anything like oil. contacted with Custom Service and they copy pasted a reply teaching me how to wash.

I wear this jacket in a variety of settings [backpacking, snowboarding, mountain biking, errands on rainy days, to formal events on rainy days] and it performs in each setting. I appreciate that it keeps me dry, can be worn over one or many layers, has the pit-zips for added breathability option, neckline prevents wind, rain, and snow from sneaking underneath, and the hood accommodates my biking, snowboarding, and climbing helmets.

Damaged after only 2 months of purchase!!

I bought this jacket less than 2 months ago (Mars 2023). I absolutely love it and I washed it regularly and carefully as recommended on Arc'teryx website with Grangers products.
However, I just noticed a big stain on the inside of the jacket, on the back. I tried to clean it with Grangers products and also using a soap specifically for the stain, but nothing worked. Additionally, there are two other stains (much smaller) on the outside of the jacket, in the front, next to the zipper, on the left side, which also can't be removed.
I am so disappointed by this issue. I have had several issues with Arc'teryx products lately, and I'm starting to think that the quality is definitely not as good as it used to be!

looks like I have similar issue as yours. I contacted with custom service and they copy paste a reply teaching me how to wash the cloth.

Je suis satisfaite de ma veste beta ar que je porte depuis deux semaines. j'aurais attribué 5 étoiles si les poches avaient été plus hautes comme sur d'autres modèles de chez Arcteryx. C'est tellement plus pratique, plus confortable, surtout avec un sac à dos.

Disappointed

Really disappointed in the performance of this jacket. I wore it hiking and it was raining quite heavily. At the end of my hike I found both the pockets had quite a bit of water inside. For a jacket that’s meant to be quality and waterproof, it sure isn’t very quality and waterproof

I would love for this jacket to come in a cherry red color. I hear that you should be wearing bright colors while you are in the mountains in case you get lost. It is easier to be located if you are wearing a bright color. Hoping to see cherry red soon.

Best overall shell

There are many shells on the market but if you had to pick one for adventure sin the mountains, the Beta AR would be it. You can pack all the puffies in the world but without a shell on a windy/wet day, you're going to be cold. The Beta is super light weight and packs down pretty compact in your backpack. I bring it on any alpine/winter adventures and use it for backcountry skiing. It has armpit vents and easy zippers to use when you're wearing gloves. The hood fits over a helmet, and the neck is high enough to block out wind when you're not wearing your hood.
Tested in PNW, Colorado winters, and California.
If you could buy one product from Arcteryx, this would be it. Most versatile and well made product.

I bought a beta AR jacket a while back, and I worn them for hiking and skiing only a few times. But the material is ripped off! I never expected the material is so flimsy. I then contacted the after sale service and all they can offer is to send me a patch like a bandage to put on the jacket. I don't think the quality justifies the high price tag. I was even more disappointed by the services.
