Hands down the worst Arc’teryx product I have ever bought, so bad it’s shaken my faith in the entire brand. I purchased these “durable freeride” bibs and on the 4th run of the very first day using them, they ripped! This wasn’t from brushing up against a tree or any kind of contact, but simply a small spill into deep powder. The durability and quality are so bad they did not survive a single day of their intended use. I purchased these, spending rent-level money, with the expectation of classic Arc’teryx quality and a product that would last me years, but these didn’t even make it one day. The saddest part of all this is that Arc’teryx seems okay with this egregiously bad product performance. After contacting customer support and telling them that this product failed after less than a single day of its intended use, I was simply told “This can happen.” They were more concerned about the manufacturing process not having anything to do with the pants ripping and did not seem to care about the fact that their $850 bibs didn’t have the durability to survive one day of their intended use. It was almost shocking how content they were with the feedback. The experience has left me disappointed and not know what is worse: the complete lack of quality of the Sabre Bibs or Arc’teryx not standing behind their product like you would expect a company that promises such high quality would. If you are thinking of buying bibs: buy anything else. These ripped like a cheap garbage bag. You are much better off spending a fraction of the price on something else or going with something Gore-Tex Pro. This product makes me question if Arc’teryx, a once great Canadian-made brand, is now living off of its past reputation to sell low-quality, mass-produced outdoor gear. I always thought they were better, but that may not be the case.

I have seen the email from Dec. 18th. I feel as though you are bring it up to make it appear as if a resolution has been offered when a proper one has not been. All the email states is the offer of patch tape or advice as to where I can pay to have the rip repaired. I don’t want a temporary patch. My issue is with the low quality or defective material this pair of bibs was made with. The Arc’teryx store informed me I should try contacting Gore-Tex, as the in-store personnel were also, like me, surprised by the product failing on the first day. I contacted Gore-Tex to explain the situation; they informed me that it is Arc’Teryx that makes all the materials, simply with their technology. They continued to say: for a material to fail in the the fashion that these bibs did, would likely be due to material defect by either low quality material or manufacturing. Gore-Tex was also shocked that under the circumstances of Arc’Teryx’s material failing on the first day of wear that they were not replacing the product all together. They also informed me that the patches will peel with time and are not a permanent fix. This does not make it a suitable solution for a product that has only seen one day of use. My issue remains the same: I don’t want a patch, I want you to stand behind your product and its quality. Arc’teryx products are supposed to last years not days.

Great bib overall (pun intended)😊

The reason for the 4 out 5 stars is that front pockets leaked through the seams inside the pockets( not inside the pants) and the thigh area is tight, especially if you need to layer up. Other than that these are great bibs! Very functional from rain to single digits. Great quality gore Tex and zippers! Good chest pocket and great vents! I’m 5’11, 178#, chest 40, waist 34, inseam 30-32. Purchased size M-R. Fit is perfect except for the thighs, but not a major problem.

Baggy fit, great if you have a beer belly.

I had been waiting since last May to replace my ski bibs. The Alpha SV bibs have changed and the boot cut no longer fits for ski boots. The Rush bibs were never released in the fall in black. The Pro bibs were not available for purchase so I was left to only purchase the Sabre bib even though my type of skiing was not freeride use. I am 5' 10", 165lb and ordered the medium regular. The length fits well but the torso is very baggy. Maybe that is why there are belt loops. I had to purchased a belt to compensate for the poor fit.

Worst fit ever.

I don't think Arc'teryx understands their audience- I split board in the backcountry 90% of the time, with some mixed climbing/alpinism thrown in and had high hopes for these pants. I own quite a few Arc'teryx products and their quality is second to none. Unfortunately, they now seem to favor form over function. I bought these in both the medium (which should fit me- 6'2/180lbs/31 waist/32 inseam) and the large. The medium fit, but offered no flexibility for movement and was not designed for a man. The thought of boot packing in these or spending a day climbing sounds like pure torture. The large on the other hand, had plenty of freedom of movement, but so much extra fabric it felt like a clown suit. If you're planning on riding on piste all day, these might work for you, but due to fit, they have no place in the backcountry.

Durability to brave the coastal Canadian Wildernes

I purchased these pants last month or so and put them through their first and probably most extreme experience. As a sartech we need personal gear that we can rely on. I wore these on a ground search through the coastal Canadian wilderness and can say they performed amazingly. I was warm and they breathe well. I hit a tonne of snags and thought for sure my Sabre pants were going to have a tear or popped seam. After inspecting they didn't have a scratch. Very durable. Highly recommend.

Initially, I wasn’t 100% sure which size to purchase, however, using the size guide and my jean size (31x30in) I decided on a small/short which turned out to be a perfect fit. The quality looks good, can’t wait to try them out on the slopes!

Sabre Bib Large Regular

The bib is awesome. I ended up with the regular large, but also tried the XL Regular & Large Tall. My jeans are sized 36 x 32 and the Large Regular bib fits great and comfortable in the waist and crotch. The Large Tall fit perfect at the waist/crotch but was around 3” longer in the leg so they dragged. Bought and returned the XL Reg & Large Tall with no issues from Arcteryx. Super Happy with the Large Regular!

Excellent material, odd choice of design and fit

The 80D material and attention to detail (e.g. seams, zippers, etc.) is impeccable as usual with Arc'teryx. A few things didn't work for me on these bibs. 1. Pockets - the pockets started halfway down the quad and end at the top of the knee. In my opinion this is incredibly unsafe as if you crash your phone/beacon could literally break your kneecap. This is the #1 reason why I am returning these bibs. The pockets need to start and end higher on the leg, having hard objects close to your knee is dangerous. 2. Fleece lining - while it made it not have the plastic-like feeling when putting them on it REALLY made these bibs retain heat. Do not recommend if you're going to tour with these bibs along side resort ski. 3. Fit - I've always said Arc'teryx is made for my body type (5'9", 150 lb, 29" waist, 32" inseam, climber build - almost always wear a S, sometimes M) but this is the first time I haven't had something from Arc'teryx that didn't fit like a glove. The torso is really short but the legs are long so the groin area pushes in uncomfortable ways. Normally I would lengthen the bib straps but because of the poor choice of pocket design I had to keep them tight otherwise my phone would be right on top of my knee in the pocket. Overall I think Arc'teryx tried with these bibs but unfortunately they missed the ball.

Not Built to Handle “Backcountry Realities”

My wife surprised me with a new pair of Sabre Bibs for Christmas. After two days in Utah’s backcountry, the bibs tore. Having spent thousands of dollars on Arc’teryx gear over the years, I contacted customer service with the hopes that the company would honor its warranty and repair or replace them. Apparently, not. The tear does not qualify as a “manufacturer’s defect.” A $700 pair of bibs advertised as being able to stand up to the “backcountry realities” should not result in a tear like this. Very disappointed in Arc’teryx not only for the lack of durability of the product, but also the utter disregard for customer satisfaction by the company and its representatives. Shame on you.

Great fit. Tears easily in areas without PowerCuff

After careful consideration, I decided to try the bib pants. Purchased January 2023. I just returned from 6 days of skiing in Whistler, and the area that does not have the 'PowderCuffs' is already showing small tears. Very disappointed. Outside of this problem, they fit great, and I like the colour (Daze).

Bomber bib!

5’9’’ 180lbs… 29’’ inseam… Size L regular inseam fits perfectly with my ski boots on if you like a lightly baggy fit… if you don’t I suggest to go with the short inseam.

Great pants

I had my old pair for seven years and they look like new apart from the snow gaiter elastics which has a reasonable level of wear. Fit is improved with this new model as they are a bit tighter which is a perfect fit for a snowboarder like me, just baggy enough but could be used for splitboarding. One downside is the internal phone pocket which does not work for a lefty… would be nice to have on both sides. The straps has to be pretty tight to make sure they don’t slip.
Q: Pros:
A: Durability, fit, looks.
Q: Cons:
A: Suspenders could be improved
Q: Activity
A: Snowboarding

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great bib for a tall man!

Being a tall and slim man (200 cm and 98 kg), I've had a hard time finding a bib that fits me (long, without being wide), and this bib in XL Tall fits me perfect. Also when wearing layers underneath. Durability is difficult to evaluate now, but they seem to be made in a durable way.
Q: Pros:
A: Well engineered and produced bib.
Q: Cons:
A: A bit pricey.
Q: Activity
A: Skiing

Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellent

I am ski instructor in the Coast Range in B.C. My old bib ski pants from a different but well known company gave up on the fourth season, split at the crotch. Actually earlier, ripped at the cuffs, and were never waterproof. I wanted the pro pants but Arc'teryx was out of stock. It's hard to believe the pro pants might be better than these, because these things are bomb proof. I've worn them in rain, wet snow warm and sunny, and minus 15 dry. First pair of gore-tex pants I've had that don't need a pair of rain pants over them to make them actually waterproof. Wish I'd bought these four years ago.
Q: Pros:
A: Everything
Q: Cons:
A: Nothing
Q: Activity
A: Ski instructing

Yes, I recommend this product.

Very happy so far!

I'm 6'2" and 180lbs with an average build. I ordered a Large jacket and bibs. When they first arrived I was wondering if I should exchange it for a Medium. The jacket felt more oversized than the bibs though. I wear heavyweight fleece long johns under a pair of thick fleece lined pants when I'm snow machining and the fit is good. Not restrictive at all. I've worn them comfortably down to about -15C and I think I'll grab a pair of down pants for any colder days. So far I've worn them about half a dozen times snowmobiling. I also intend to wear them snowboarding as well as in the fall and spring for cool rainy days fishing. I'll just change out the insulating layer as needed. A lot of my winter activities are not very active so I wanted something big enough for thick insulating layers underneath. The cut/fit is excellent. There is no binding of fabric anywhere that I've noticed. I really like the way the snow skirt attaches to the bibs. I think it'll be an asset in the deeper snow and colder days on the board or sled.
Q: Pros:
A: Cut/fit is excellent w/insulation
Q: Cons:
A: A little roomy without insulation
Q: Activity
A: Snowboarding, snowmobiling, everyday cool/cold/rainy jacket

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great bibs

These are excellent bibs from a technical standpoint. I've already worn them in some storm conditions and stayed completely dry. They intergrate perfectly with my couple-years-old Sabre LT jacket's powder skirt. As a few other's have mentioned, the thighs are a little tight, and I'm not someone in the gym doing squats with huge quads. An extra half inch to an inch and they would have been perfect for me. My one complaint, and it is a nit pick but does seem like an oversight on a high end pair of bibs, is that there is no hanging loop on the the inside of the pants to hang from a hook while drying. Minor, I know.
Q: Pros:
A: Quality materials, waterproof
Q: Cons:
A: Slim through thighs
Q: Activity
A: Snowboarding

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great bib

Bought these bibs this past fall for ski season. Have utilized them several times ranging from 17 F to 37 F in pouring rain. Bibs kept me warm and dry as expected. I did find odd where the main zipper is placed on the side but am now used to it. I am very picky and expect only the best from my gear and these bibs do not disappoint me at all.
Q: Pros:
A: Light weight - Dry - Warm.
Q: Activity
A: Skiing.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Poor durability and poor customer service

Bought these brand new at the begging of the season. They were super nice at first, but on my second session ever using them I hit a jump on my snowboard and landed on my rear on the ice, and it was enough of an impact to tear a seam about 6 inches then tear some of the goretex fabric as well. I thought maybe since I spent $700+ I could get them replaced or repaired since it was within just a few weeks of purchase, but instead they offered me a 100$ gift card if I shipped my bibs in for them to recycle. Pretty disappointed as I’ve also had a waterproof zipper adhesive fall off another jacket of mine. I own over 15 arcteryx jackets and pants and this situation with customer service has made me consider starting to shop other brands.
Q: Pros:
A: Nice fit, great functionality
Q: Cons:
A: Horrible durability
Q: Activity
A: Snow sports

No, I do not recommend this product.

Sabre Bib Pant Men's

Moving beyond boundaries, always seeking something new – if freeride’s your path, the Sabre’s your bib. Built to handle backcountry realities – and great for a day carving turns at the resort – it leverages durable, breathable 80D 3L ePE GORE-TEX to shut out sleet, snow, and wind. A warm backer adds light insulation. Thigh vents dump heat on the uptrack, articulation frees you to move, a RECCO® reflector’s embedded for added safety, and the full bib adds protection in deep powder.

What's been updated: Updated with a new durable, lightweight GORE-TEX ePE fabric that offers a reduced carbon footprint and has an 80D face fabric for enhanced durability without added weight.

This product is free of intentionally added PFAS.

The new ePE membrane technology is lighter and thinner, but just as strong and durable as the materials we used before.   You may notice the face fabric “wetting out” slightly faster in products with ePE membranes, but rest assured this does not affect the waterproofing of the membrane itself. If you notice the fabric wetting out faster than you’d like, simply wash the jacket and dry it to remove the oil contamination and bring the DWR back to its full power.

Ski & Snowboard

Designed with specific snowsports features for efficient protection, layering and movement.

GORE-TEX

Waterproof, windproof and breathable textiles that offer fully protective environmental shelter.
