Buyer Beware: Did NOT Warranty Jacket

Attention: Buyer Beware! Purchased Men's Arc'teryx Beta Jacket (no liner) for husband as his Road Runner Sports Gore-Tex with Liner jacket finally wore out after 16 years. Purchased online September 2024. We live in Utah, inclimate mountain weather. He wore it for first time 2024 November 30–40-degree weather. Arc'teryx jacket is advertised on Arc'teryx site as: "it delivers lasting waterproof, windproof, breathable protection." The jacket is not breathable, nor does it keep you warm or breathe when sweating after running for 30-plus minutes. Also, the right sleeve cuff is smaller than right cuff, cutting off blood in right wrist and hand. Contacted the company we purchased it from, they directed us to contact Arc'teryx directly for returns. We contacted Arc'teryx. Arc'teryx will not warranty the jacket because it's been worn. We went back and forth, Arc'teryx sent links telling us to read the Arc'teryx's website jacket description which is as quoted above. We spent time researching Arc'teryx jackets due it being an investment. Long story "short," Arc'teryx will not replace the jacket. We're out $400.00! Arc'teryx suggested two lower priced jackets however, would not swap one in return for Beta jacket. Warning: do not purchase this jacket unless it is warranted by company its' purchased from. It is a very cheap jacket, ridiculously priced. Never will purchase an Arc'teryx product. Buyer Beware!

I have had my Beta Jacket for 11 years! Been in severe snow storms, Backcountry skied up 100,000+ feet and skied, ran and sweat'd in my Beta Jacket! It finally gave out on the seams. I wash it regularly (highly recommend you do as well! I summited for a warrantee, after further review by the experts at Arc Teryx... I just got a replacement coupon and purchased the same jacket! Looking forward to another 11 years of fun! Thanks Arc Teryx!! Love ya

Recién sacada de la bolsa de embalaje mi primera impresión ha sido la de estar ante una prenda de muy alta calidad con un acabado perfecto. Mido 182cm y peso 82 kg. He comprado la talla XL. Me queda holgada pero ideal para poner capas debajo. Cuándo la use durante un tiempo hará una nueva valoración. Por ahora todo es positivo.

But the color is different than on the photos - I have bought "black sapphire" and based on the photos I would expect darker colour, more like graphite, but for me it's just "deep blue".

I owned a Zeta SL jacket before and I was very happy with it as an all destination pack light companion.
Since I lost it in one of my trips (left onboard of an aircraft an never found)
I try to get the Zeta SL again but it wasn’t available anymore so I decided to get the Beta and it works well in most of the situations that I use it .mostly long walks on norther European windy and rainy weather
I found a perfect fitting for me with the L size I’m 6 feet.
If something it will be nice to be slightly longer for perfection.

Great shell but it’s definitely expensive. Haven’t put it to use yet so can’t speak to the goretex but it looks great. I’m 5’8 and I got the medium. A little big but I figure rain jackets should be bigger so you can layer underneath.

Main jacket 'just in case rains' which I use to pack on any kind of trip (business, mtb, trekking, city). Really curious to see how does it perform without the under arm zips, less potential breaking points, but less breathability.

Fantastic Versatile Jacket

I was very hesitant to spend 500 dollars on a rain jacket, however I was very pleasantly surprised with this purchase. This jacket fits very well and is versatile. I am 6'1" 150lbs so I'm relatively slim, but this jacket fits if you feel chilly and decide to wear a big bulky hoodie. The waterproofing is perfect as advertised, and I'm looking forward to giving it more use when I'm on the pacific coast. Since purchasing, I put the exclusive grand opening iron on patch to the right shoulder, which looks pretty badass in my opinion. 10/10 would recommend for those interested

8 hours paddling in Yukon during a torrential downpour. At the end of the day I was the only person with dry clothes.
I was wearing a hat and easily rolled the hood inside to prevent pooling. The large side pockets are easily accessible to the point I could access them without taking off my PFD. Cuffs closed easily and prevented any rain from going into my sleeves. Barely sweat despite working to paddle, wearing my PFD, and 20 degree temperature. Literally shook it dry after the fact. Best rain jacket I've ever owned.

Improvements for GORE-TEX

Read this if you want a sort of "long term" review.
(4 months) Excellent improvement in comfort, as the new backing in the jacket is way better than old beta. I can see why some are not satisfied with the DWR treatment, as its not as effective as the older PFAS DWR treatment. But after the first time i treated with DWR it beaded water perfectly. So as is with any changes its not going to be the same. But the improvements on the fabric itself, it's thinner, stronger and softer. It completely makes up for the need to reproof the DWR more often.

Made with a durable 80D face fabric and a GORE‑TEX ePE (expanded polyethylene) membrane that’s light, strong, and PFC-free, it delivers lasting waterproof, windproof, breathable protection with a reduced carbon footprint. The C-KNIT backer adds comfort, and the low-profile StormHood adjusts with a quick pull to provide coverage and maintain lines of sight. Articulation removes restriction, and an embedded RECCO reflector can aid in search emergencies.
This product is free of intentionally added PFAS.
The new ePE membrane technology is lighter and thinner, but just as strong and durable as the materials we used before. You may notice the face fabric “wetting out” slightly faster in products with ePE membranes, but rest assured this does not affect the waterproofing of the membrane itself. If you notice the fabric wetting out faster than you’d like, simply wash the jacket and dry it to remove the oil contamination and bring the DWR back to its full power.
