Question 1

Can Kyanite pants be worn as regular outerwear for everyday use, or are they intended to be worn under another pair of pants?

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi Zean, thanks for reaching out. The Kyanite Pant can absolutely be worn as a standalone outer layer for everyday use. It is also versatile enough to function as a midlayer under another pair of pants when needed. We hope this helps!

Question 2

i am a 29" waist, 29" inseam, 172cm tall, 145lbs. Do you recommend a XS or S?

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi Andy, thanks for reaching out. Given your measurements, we recommend a size XS or S, depending on your desired fit. If your measurements are between sizes, select a larger size for a looser fit or a smaller size for a tighter fit. We also recommend referring to our Sizing Chart with your full body measurements to ensure the best fit. We hope this helps!

Question 3

What is the actual inseam of size Large? The size chart says it should be 32.5 inches but comments I am reading suggest it might be shorter.

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi Patt, thanks for reaching out. The inseam length of the Kyanite Pant in size Large is 76.7 cm. The sizing chart is meant to give a general reference for how your body measurements correspond to our garment sizing, but it does not represent the garment’s actual measurements. We hope this helps!

Question 4

For running in a wide range of cold to mild temperatures (0 to 15 celsius), which pants are better, Gamma, Gamma AR or Kyanite? I don't like Norvan because they have no side pockets.

River · Accepted Answer

Hello there, while none of the Gamma, Gamma AR, or Kyanite pants are specifically designed for running, each offers distinct benefits depending on your priorities. The Gamma Pants are lightweight, breathable, and offer good mobility with a trim fit, making them versatile for active use.The Gamma AR Pants are more rugged and durable, built for alpine and hiking conditions, with a heavier fabric that may feel restrictive for fast-paced movement. The Kyanite Pants, on the other hand, are soft, stretchy, and fleece-lined, offering excellent comfort and warmth for casual or recovery wear, but they lack the structure and weather resistance of the Gamma series. If side pockets are important and you're looking for a balance of mobility and light protection, the standard Gamma Pants may be your best fit.

Question 5

Is it suitable for gym?

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi Ahmed, thanks for reaching out. The Kyanite Pant could work for the gym if your workouts are moderate and you prefer something warm. It has great stretch and breathability, but it’s designed more for outdoor activity in cool weather. In a heated gym during intense workouts, it may feel too warm, and we would recommend lightweight pants or shorts. We hope this helps!

Question 6

Any pro tips on how to retrieve the drawstring when it retracts into it’s lair in the waistband?

Sophie · Accepted Answer

Hi Aaron, thanks for your question! To retrieve a retracted drawstring, try securing a safety pin to one end of the drawstring that is accessible. Close the pin and insert it into the drawstring opening of the pants. Push the pin into the casing and hold onto the pin through the fabric, while gently pulling back the fabric. Continue to do this until the drawstring emerges on the other side. From there, you can detach the pin. We hope this helps!

Question 7

How stretchy are the ankles on these pants? Can the pant legs be rolled up above the calves to accommodate ski boots?

River · Accepted Answer

Hello there, the flexibility of the Kyanite Pants around the ankles can vary depending on your calf size. The fabric is stretchy, but whether you can roll up the pant legs above your calves to fit ski boots will depend on how your calves compare to the pant’s design. If you have larger calves, you might find rolling them up a bit tight. For the best fit, you might want to try them on with your ski boots in a store near you.

Question 8

Is this a good mid layer pant for cold days under non insulated ski pants?

Dave · Accepted Answer

Hello there,

The Kyanite Pant features a Polartec® Power Stretch® Pro fleece that provides warmth. On rainy days or if performing high-output activities, synthetic insulation is recommended. That said, we do not rate our garments for temperature as there are too many factors that influence this result from person to person and we recommend referring to our layering guide for more tips on staying warm: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/shop/layering-guide/

Question 9

Any plans to add a tall version? I am 6' 4" and the 31 inch inseam just won't work for me.

Dave · Accepted Answer

Hello there,

We definitely ask you to stay tuned though, as we are always designing forward with customer feedback in mind, and update our styles as the seasons change!
