So far so good. Bought this shell for downhill skiing and backpacking. It has performed quite well to this date. Like all the features and especially the zip interior pocket and the pocket on the left sleeve that holds my ski pass.

Got my first shell jacket ever, and chose the Alpha SV. It is amazing! I was afraid to cold. Tested now in 3800 meters in minus 14C and wind with snow. Have a fleece and a Arcteryx thin vest. Works fine (Alpine skiing). Offer was 20% in red.

Love this shell for climbing. I mostly used my beta lt for climbing but this feels a lot more sturdy and the cut is way better for a harness. I use it for skiing sometimes as well. Great all around shell for the harshest conditions.

Really love it, very stylish, a must-have for every outdoor enthusiast.

This is my fourth alpha sv, once I also have many other brands of top hardshell jacket, after a long time of outdoor harsh environment, now I will only choose alpha sv, and recommend to friends around You can rest assured of its performance in any harsh environment, and I've slipped on a mountain in Nepal, but there's barely a hint of wear on the alpha sv

Purchased my Alpha SV in 2017, and have used it as my ski shell (downhill and A/T) every season since. Great in everything from cold/crisp mornings in Summit County Colorado to warm rainy days on Mount Shasta. Plenty of pockets, and zip vents work well to help moderate temps. Still beads water, and only thinking of replacing it due to a nasty grease stain I picked up on a chairlift. I'm 5'10" and 150lbs - medium fits perfectly.

I purchased the alpha SV in 2020.. I use it exclusively for backcountry skiing. Within a couple of years it started to delaminate in places. I held onto it for a couple more years as I don’t like things being wasted, but by 2024 it was no longer at all waterproof. I would consider the garment lightly used considering that it’s only been used in a clean environment And only for one activity. I use lighter jackets In summer. Also I don’t sweat in it, as I manage my temperature carefully in the Yukon winters. I washed the jacket as per instructions. When I returned it I was told that I had not washed it often enough and was told they would neither fix nor replace it. I am disappointed to see that Arcteryx no longer stands behind its products.

I’ve had both the large and extra large in previous iterations of these jackets. I had 2013 and 2016 and a 2019 of both large and extra large I think that the new cut of the extra large is a little too roomy and where I going on an expedition camping on mountains, needing room Thousand down filled insulation, it would be good, but I don’t need that and I’m going to trade it for a large the new one so if you’re used to wearing large and wanted to size up the new cuts of the jackets, I believe you could remain at a large and still have room for enough stuff to warm you up I love the pockets of the alpha SV for a phone credit cards in the other pocket. Whatever the drawstring keeps the wind out I’m not risking life and limb. When I go out with this jacket nor do I wear a helmet, so I wish the hood was tighter. I’ve had these jackets and enjoy them. I’m used to facing Wind that is about 27 to 32 knots And I have to wear several layers of protection for my face and example balaclava neck gator, Marino hoodie with face covering that being said oh, and the temperatures are around 0 to 10 Fahrenheit That being said, I wouldn’t consider not having one of these jackets I’ve noticed that the bird has come out with a ski jacket that’s 100 denier and I plan to try it although I’m sorry that the pockets aren’t the same as the SV alpha Excellent rain protection mostly happy with it

Best shell on the market. I have had this jacket for 16 years. It has seen Alberta winters, storms on the North Atlantic, the mountains of Afghanistan, the Rockies during a blizzard and 1000 miles of rain on a cross country motorcycle trip. This jacket gets packed for every adventure. Layer this with the right combo and you are set for any conditions. I am 6’1, 200 lbs and wear a size Large. My label says made in Canada.

Alpha sv (dk stratus) Great jacket, fit is good and I love the size and adjustability of the hood, but there is one minor flaw for such a high end jacket. The dwr is far from “durable” it took one wear in light rain for places on the jacket to wet out and not “bead” water which is quite annoying as the jacket has only been worn less then a handful of times. Other than that you can’t go wrong with the alpha sv

I was a little dubious to start with because of how stiff and noisy the fabric felt, but that didn't matter at all as soon as I needed it! Was almost upset when the weather picked up and it wasn't required anymore. Purchased for walking/climbing, but think I'll end up using it instead of my Rush jacket when backcountry snowboarding in the Scottish highlands. Features are fantastic and pockets well placed.

I absolutely LOVE this jacket. From the color scheme, to the abundance of zipper pockets, to the perfectly designed hood and overall exceptional insulated layer, this jacket has it all. An excellent hard shell, great breathability, durability and fit on PNW bushwhacks, and rainy days. Only complaint is that the cuffs are a bit wide, and the velcro could extend another couple of cm to allow more adjustability.

I work as an arctic expedition guide. I live in this jacket for several weeks to months every year. It does come in at a higher price than some but worth it. It is my winter shell layer, my rain jacket, my windbreaker and - more often than not, my pillow. On the plus side: The fabric is tough enough to stand up to the abrasion against rock, quamatik (a traditional Inuit Sled) sides, fishing boats and of course my pack. Pockets are well placed and don’t interfere with pulk or climbing harnesses. The hood is roomy enough to accommodate various helmets, hats and go over parka hoods. The hood also cinches down small enough when I want just enough room for my head and not the weather outside. My major point for improvement is with the front zip. Admittedly I put this jacket through a lot, but the front zip is the weak point. The plastic teeth tend to get worn and the zip splits open. Arc’teryx has been great about repairs but…seriously? This jacket needs a better zipper. A minor point is that the pit zips are difficult to operate with mittens and hard to reach when wearing bulky layers underneath. Easily solved with longer cord on the zipper pulls. Overall, a great jacket. Pairs nicely with my Beta AR pants.

Super highly priced and it got worn down in less than 2 years of me owning it, I recommend the alpine jacket model instead, no tear in the gore-Tex and I’ve had it for 3 years. Maybe if the customer support team was better I could return it for another model or jacket but sadly not

Ich nutze die Jacke ausschließlich zum Eisklettern. Die Jacke hat alles was es dafür braucht. Absolute Robustheit, Wasserdicht und trotzdem sehr Bewegungsoptimiert. Auch kleine Details wie die Taschenanordnung machen sehr viel Spaß

One of the better gore-tex pro jackets I've owned. Fits well when climbing. Love the foam that prevents it from riding up above a harness

The Alfa sv is a great shell that I’ve had for a few years. It is breathable but also blocks out the elements incredibly well. The one thing I don’t love about the jacket is the fact that there are no good pockets to put your hands in. Overall it’s a great jacket and I would highly recommended buying it.
