The fabrication date of the jacket was 10/2011. I wear the jacket 10 days per year in winter in Greece. I return the jacket to arcteryx for repair and this is the Assessment results by arcteryx: Age, wear and tear from normal use and possible contamination of the fabric by body oil, sweat or dirt have left this piece in a condition where the product is worn out beyond reasonable repair either under warranty or at a cost. As a result, a repair would not hold and we could not stand behind it. We build our products to last over extended periods of use, but nothing lasts indefinitely.

This is my third Arcteryx gtx jacket, i have been happy whit Arcteryx in the past. I got this jacket as a replacement of a beta SV that had delaminations issues. After a year (13 mounth) i startet to see air pockets forming under the face fabric of the Goretex fabric on the back of the hood, the same issue i had whit my old Beta SV. The rest of the jacket still looked almost new, so i contacting Arcteryx thy ask me to send it in; and the answer i got from them was: “Contamination of this nature is due to things like sweat, body oil, dirt … No Warranty, no repair possible” A 800euro jacket made for mountaineering in so called “most rugged GTX” that have been washes and cared for by all means, lasts only a little more than a year? The “Product Practical Lifespan” of Arcteryx products is now down to zero i will never buy Arcteryx again.

I've had this jacket a little over a year now and have put it through it's paces in the Northeastern Ontario bush, not just trails but actually off trail bushwhacking as well, including in the rain. There were a few times I got it so dirty from going through trees and other vegetation that I thought I might have stained it, a simple wash fixed it right up - no rips or tears either! Love this jacket!

Love this jacket. It is essentially bombproof and the only shell you'll ever need. Pit zips for adjusting breathability and a robust outer fabric that can go through anything

I purchased this jacket to go on a combination back country, self supported and Heli service trip. I wore this basically non stop, except for sleeping for 10 days. It worked in all types of weather and temps. I purchased the off lime color and my friends said they could really see me at a distance, which was the point of buying the bright color to be see in low light and low visibility at all times.

I bought this a few years back. Love the location of pockets, hood design and fit. At it's price, this as a premium product and I expect premium function, durability and support services. I had hoped to keep this jacket for years. Unfortunately, I've had multiple zippers issues including the main that prevented me from fully zipping up my jacket (without tape to hold the fabric back the zipper got consistently caught). Earlier this winter, I contacted support (after trying a store first - they do not support) and was told it would take 2 weeks to review my pictures and decide next steps. Once reviewed, I was told I can not apply tape or perform any repair on my own. I was also told due to covid/resource shortages they would not repair it themselves. There was no suggestion for how to use the jacket this season. I was given the name of a third party to repair. After some back and forth I was given a 40% off coupon, but that missed the mark. It felt corporate, I was certainly disappointed.

Did not anticipate the jacket advertised to be made from "the most durable materials" with "most rugged technology" per the product write-ups would fail so quickly. After only a handful of uses, 10-12 total, the otherwise good-as-new jacket has worn irregularly at the point where my backpack strap rests. This is so frustrating as you'd think such an expensive jacket's "practical lifespan" would stand up past 10 uses.

My go to for winter mountaineering and ice climbing. Nice to not have to worry about scraping against the rocks and ice, resting ice axes over the shoulder, etc. I like the chest pockets too, they are convenient placed for snacks and phone. Inside stash pocket is great for making sure the second pair of gloves are secure as I'm warming them for the next ice pitch/belay stance.

I am 5’9 and an athletic broad chested build at 200lbs. I had originally purchased the rush jacket but the length was just too much. The powder guard wrapped around my lower butt. After popping into the Arc’teryx store in Toronto, I tried on this jacket and it just checked all the right boxes for me. Its shorter in the front by about 2 inches and swooped down in the back about a half inch shorter than the rush did. This jacked doesn’t have a powder guard but to be honest, I’ve never used it on any of the other jackets I’ve owned so I’m actually happier without it. Pockets are placed high which is perfect if you ski with a backpack. My only gripe is the length of the sleeves they’re very long but the Velcro remedied that. The hood fits perfectly over my Oakley mod 3 helmet and the adjustment pulls are great at adjusting the hood size when not wearing a helmet. I paired them up with the beta sv bibs in a Large Short and this kit is wicked

I bought the jacket about 2 years and 4 months ago. The jacket was intended for bad weather in the mountains and not for everyday use. Due to corona, there weren't many tours at first, because we couldn't go abroad. Now I used the jacket 20-25 days. The button for the tie on the hood came loose. So the jacket was sent to Switzerland for 30 euros postage and the answer was that the jacket was worn through, no repairs. I am extremely dissatisfied when the high-end product shows defects after such a short time and use.

Guys, sorry about the bad rating. You have a good design and cool products but please don't partner with Gore-Tex anymore as it will damage your brand. I've been skiing today in Kitzbuhel, Austria, in rain but not lashing rain, while wearing my Arcteryx pants and jacket with Gore-Tex Pro material. I got completely soaked underneath all the way to the base layers and skin. Even my underwear were soaked. I have numerous jackets, pants, bibs, etc from you and getting wet is not the first time although I always bought the very best from you and often most expensive SV jackets and pants. I did that for two reasons, first to keep me dry and second the design/features. "Guaranteed to keep you dry" is not real. It's all rubbish in that respect. It will protect you from some very light drizzling and have good breathability and it will dry quick but it will not keep you dry at all. You will be completely wet. I'm so mad after spending thousands of euro buying multiple jackets and pants not only for me but also for my family and today I felt that needs to be said somewhere because people are being mislead by the Gore-Tex moto: "Guaranteed to keep you dry" which is a complete lie. Use schoeller c-change for the "waterproof products" I have some motorcycle gear that uses this material and is waterproof for sure. Anyone buying the high end stuff for waterproofness will want that guaranteed. Gore-Tex can't do it.

The adjusters for the hood became detached from the Gore Tex fabric after light usage. Due to Coronavirus and lockdown I've not been able to travel since this garment was purchased, I've only taken it on local walks. Customer service claim it can't be repaired and isn't covered under warranty. They even described the item as in "poor" condition, even the seam tape looks like new. This is the second Arcteryx shell coat to fail me prematurely, the Alpha SV was a hardy upgrade to replace the last one. I've got a wardrobe full of Arcteryx gear but I won't be buying any more after getting such poor support after less than 12 months use out of a £600+ coat.

Light, durable, great fit and functional design. If you want to minimize your shell on one model , this should be your choice. I ski ,climb and hike with it. Extremely waterproof . Simply a my reliable outdoor companion.

J’ai acheté cette veste en août(numéro deux commande 5182753) , censé être le top chez Arcteryx, j’ai pris la pluie une fois avec et j’ai maintenant une tache sur l’intérieur du col qui ne part pas , même au lavage . C’est franchement inadmissible pour un article à ce prix là .

I took the plunge on this based on the performance of an old 3 layer. Unfortunately, I found the material to be so noisy that it turned me off right out of the bag.

Bought this jacket a couple of years ago with the N80d material (not the new N100d which is slightly heavier). Let's start with the positive aspects: The jacket fits me very well and was used a lot. Skiing, hiking but also on a daily basis in the city. It provided me with good protection (not overwhelming) but to be honest the water resistency was not really outstanding. To be fair, I prefer this kind of Jacket with an inner layer in sub zero (°C) conditions where rain isn't an issue. The hood is very large to accommodate a helmet and is also a very good design. Let's discuss the negative points: It is delaminating everywhere... It started with the drawstrings and cuffs (the drawstring tunnel and the tunnel for the elastic cuffs is just glued which fell apart quickly). I washed the jacket according to the instructions for less than 10 times over the years (normally just once a year, but sometimes twice). The service in Switzerland repaired the jacket well(I am in Germany), but about a year later the drawstring tunnel of the hood is delaminating... Now shipping alone is about 30 € to Switzerland therefore it doesn't make sense to ship it there every time something breaks... In total I am not happy with the jacket, as it doesn't provide enough for the requested price... I got it for 500$ in the US which is a lot cheaper than the MSRP and am still dissapointed for that price point... never had those issues with my old jacket from another manufacturer (which weighs double of what the alpha SV weighs)... I love arcteryx jackets in general, but don't understand how those flaws can be accepted in a premium hardshell... My next hardshell will unfortunately not be an arcteryx... (but I bought the Therme Parka and that thing is great so far ;-)) Hope this review helps some of you.

This jacket is sick. If you’re looking for the greatest shell of all time, buy this one. Fits super well to size, very durable and will withstand extreme weather conditions.

Truly an incredible jacket. This thing will keep you bone dry in the worst conditions. The tradeoff is not being as light or packable as a lighter shell, but this jacket is bulletproof. I live in Squamish and this is an essential piece for adventures in the shoulder seasons. Customer service is also top knotch (part of what you're paying for). My jacket was 8 years old and had been through everything when the chest started delaminating. Within days I had a new jacket being shipped to me and the new version is even better! You rock Arc'teryx! Thank you!

Wow, this is a real shell of a jacket. It is super solid. Have not put it through its paces yet, but cannot immagin what it cannot handle. The only issues I found are, well besides the price (but that's no secret) is that the jacket does seem a little big in the sizing and its a bit noisy, but what do you expect from a tank.

Great jacket, just a little loud to wear, but that does not matter much. When my jacket are worn out, I will purchase a new one!

Durable and waterproof. This is the best jacket around if you can handle shelling out the money.

Wear this coat in streams, snowshoeing and sledding. Works great
