Nuclei Hoody Hombre

The Nuclei Hoody is feather light, as warm or warmer that a Heavyweight Proton Hoody, and wind proof. I love this jacket. I started with the Nuclei vest and loved it so much the Hoody was my next step.

I’ve had the previous nuclei FL hoodie jacket for a year now. It’s my favorite light weight jacket so far. It keeps up to all its requirements. The insulation does well, sometimes too well, so the jacket is mainly for colder temperatures for that reason.

I bought this for a ski trip. My initial thought was that I bought something that won't keep me warm because it was so light. After trying it on, I was surprised at how warm it was and how much it blocked out the wind. I was sweating inside!

A little about me – 1.75m (5ft 9in) tall and weigh 73kg (161lb). My chest measures 108cm (42.5in) and waist 84cm (33in) with an athletic build normally a size medium in Arc’. I bought the Nuclei (FL) in medium and the fit is really, really good - big enough to go over all other layers in all but the burliest of mid-layer insulators, yet trim enough wear over a base-layer at camp! The thing you notice about the Nuclei's (FL and the SV) is the loft - I have never experiences another synthetic with the same loft - it's incredible and from my perspective the closet synthetic alternative to down (that's a huge compliment!)! Light, packable, warm when wet (great for the UK) and do not doubt the durability of the Arato fabric. Yeah - it is thin and that allows it to be packable. It is way more durable than people give it credit for!

Very light but keeps you warm and windproof. I find it perfect to wear as a mid layer also under my Beta AR shell jacket for winter weather. It also looks very stylish and the colour navy is gorgeous (black sapphire).

I love my 2013 Nuclei and this new version corrected all 3 issues I had with that original. By adding an adjustable hood, zippers that don’t catch easily, and most importantly adding interior dump pockets, they created the perfect winter jacket for me. (Arc’teryx, why oh why don’t you add dump pockets to more of your pieces?!) It’s too warm for me to wear it if it’s going to be over 35F-40F but it’s killer for anything colder. I resort snowboarded in it in temps between-5F and 15F and was perfect with only a Delta LT 1/4 zip underneath. That’s it. 2 layers. If I’m only moderately active in it with breathable underlayers I don’t get swampy in it. I don’t climb but use it for most anything else. Also the fit and articulation are fantastic. If I’m working hard it still comes with as it packs down to nothing and goes over everything. It’s great.

I love this jacket. It is one of the warmest jackets I own and it compresses down to the size of a Nalgene bottle. If the weather is iffy/cold whatsoever, I do not hesitate to throw it in a pack or clip it to my harness -- it is just that lightweight. This is not a jacket you will wear while ascending/running/or doing high output activities, but rather it is more of a belay jacket, or a basecamp jacket. It is fairly durable -- I have had mine for 5 years, I climb with it around 30 times a year, and I only have one tear in the body of the jacket.

As others have said this jacket is pretty amazing.. The medium Cerium is a little too fitted for me as I am in between sizes as someone who is 6'3 and 165 lbs. (Medium Cerium fits but arms are a little short and tight in shoulders) but this Medium fits like a glove and packs down almost as small as the Cerium. The materials feels thin and I wonder how it will hold up, but I will be using as a static piece and use my durable proton on the move and when climbing, so it shouldn't be an issue. The one thing I wish this did have is a 2 way zipper to make it a true belay jacket. I don't think this would add too much weight and I would certainly be willing to pay more money to have the 2 way main zipper. Other than that it is perfect. Incredibly warm for its weight and stylish as well. With my Proton not handling the wind too well, this is the perfect piece to bring in my pack for when I am not the one climbing and staying still. The Nuclei belay pants are rad as well!

Easily the best midweight jacket out there! This jacket has the best weight-to-warmth ratio I've ever seen in a synthetic. Great for layering as well. Packs super small and is all-around, the best midweight jacket out there. Arc'teryx is seriously pushing the boundaries with this one!

Had the Nuclei FL and still think it is the best winterjacket for cold days while not moving too fast :) The new one is warmer and puffier, it gets a bit too bulky, sizing down is an option. Excellent windproofing, great as a belayjacket, great for hiking in cold, damp days. Very packable.

The Arcteryx Nuclear jacket is the best all-round jacket I've had. I have both the Atom and Proton jackets, both of which are more breathable. But the Nuclear jacket has a much higher warmth value as it is completely windproof. It is lightweight and is the jacket I use most in everyday life as it is incredibly versatile. Great jacket that I have in 2 colours now.

Bought this two weeks ago. It’s lightweight. Super warm and the good is perfect in terms of coverage. Packs down to an almost unrecognisable size in its bag and looks so cool on. Had tonnes of compliments already. I’m definately winter ready

II bought this a couple of weeks ago and have had in the backcountry of Montana. Very packable, very warm, it is windproof, and fits true to size and now allows for layering underneath. 5 star all the way. Do not buy this if you need breathability......this is very windproof and for static or low activity. It will be perfect for on piste skiing but not actively hiking in the backcountry. It will be excellent as a packable puffy for the backcountry when added layers are needed.....waiting for the slow pokes. 2 things: 1) Absolutely needs an exterior chest pocket 2) More colors starting with UN blue BTW - you hardly know this hoody is on. Very comfortable, lite, and it is solid against our high winds in the Big Sky state.

Had the FL version an the weight to warmth to style to compressibility ratio on that one was legendary. Unfortunately I lost it on pitch 12 of a route and couldn’t find it so I have to patiently wait for glitch or black heather colorway. Hey, Arcteryx, aby chances for these to appear any time soon?

I'm so glad this piece was brought back from the dead, and better than ever. For me, it provides the perfect combo of warmth, packability, and storm protection. My only minor issue is the face fabric durability - I wish it were 10% tougher to prevent nicks. I just used this for 14 days straight in the Alaska Range, wearing it as my ski and belay piece. I then took it as my only outer layer for a quick ascent on Tahoma, where I used it to wait out a summit storm. It's not designed for movement, but I booted in it for 1000m in very cold temps. The huge win for this piece is the warmth to weight. It packs smaller and is much warmer than the Atom LT, and is a more versatile piece than the Cerium due to the synthetic. I'll be using it on all manner of trips up high this summer and fall!

A great jacket that has worked for me in varied weather. It is great at -15/20C all the way up to 5-10C with good smart layering. The fit is trim but this is also stated on the product page and should be accounted for. I was really suprised by how well it has stood against rain and snow. Of course this isn't made for heavy rain and you will need an outer layer for that!

This product is really next level. Light comfortable and fits like a glove. Extremely please that I bought this jacket

I bought this a couple months ago for those hours/days when you're waiting for weather to clear, or just back to camp and looking to go low octane for a bit. This jacket provides amazing warmth for the weight and packs up small enough to fit into the top of even a modest day pack.

The Nuclei is the most...underrated? jacket out there. Perhaps a better word is 'less-known-but-best-jacket' in the Arc lineup. It's an outstanding piece of packable kit that delivers consistently, especially in challenging conditions. I use my various Nukes on valley and foothill trails, mountaintop pursuits, in both dry and very wet and damp conditions. I found it particularly useful in the cool desert in Nevada, and because of that, it came with me when I ran the Marathon Des Sables across the Sahara in 2017. I've also used it as a belay jacket - its original intent - and even in urban cycling and as a fly fishing insulation layer (if I tip over in the river, it dries faster than most of its down counterparts). My nukes have also come with me on overseas deployments and they've been outstanding pieces of kit, and I've had teammates buy one as a result out of envy. and we do really tough work in really terrible conditions and the jacket holds up fine. My one beef is tiny and cosmetic and I fell stupid mentioning it, but I will because I find this beef to be super annoying - I don't like that the product designers are moving away from the logo and wordmark as the front-facing logo combo, and going to just the logo. I find the logo on its own to be pretty disappointing, even...cheap looking. It's great that they went to contrast stitching so why walk it back now? In my head, the logo + wordmark means a top Arc product, born from being a regular adopter of the Alpha SV line, which was always the best and always had both the logo and wordmark. To be honest, I own more than 150 Arc prodcuts and I don't buy the ones with just the logo because I take that as a signal these are second or third best in the line up - the so called value line common in many other kit labels. But Arc historically doesn't tier their merch this way. It's more tiered based on either intent (sport) or material (e.g. down vs coreloft, GTX vs DWR). So as someone who uses the gear daily to its true intent - in very challenging environments - why would I invest in the second best in the line? Cuz that's exactly what designers are telling me when they make that call, but there's nothing second rate about the Nuclei. Too bad product managers don't read these forums. For those who like details: I own multiple Nuclei 2017-2022 editions including 2 of the winter 2022-2023 FL in black sapphire and bordeaux. Sports and activities include mountain top hiking, outdoor climbing, urban cycling, valley hiking, desert camping, desert trail running, cross-country skiing, kayaking (salt water) and fly fishing, along with deployment to harsh environments where load bearing equipmetn can be used. No size or material issues fits true to form, and construction quality is great. Pockets are great. Comes with a stuffy bag.

My go too jacket for fast and light objectives for rock, ice, and skiing. It is unnoticeable on the harness as it comes with a great stuff sack and clip in point or in the bottom of a ski pack for longer days.

Highly packable, lightweight, incredibly warm for it's size, performs well during activity when it's cold. This has replaced my light down puffy in most situations!
