Beyond disappointed in the pants & Arcteryx! As a paid Ski Patroller I’ll NEVER give these clowns a cent or recommendation EVER. AVOID the warranty is a complete scam!
Not even one season in the entire top of the pants came apart during a rescue leaving my ENTIRE rear end exposed. Beyond embarrassing and extremely cold…
I was appalled that my initial contact was 12/23 & they claim to have “resolved” it 1/15; I still don’t have pants… They first said they’d repair it with visible through stitching, non-matching Velcro, visible patches. Upon expressing displeasure I was issued a refund to purchase pants that are NOT in stock.
So I needed to spend more money on a cheaper & colder of pants while I wait for these bozos. Mindful of the fact my $600 is tied up in a useless credit. As originally stated I’ll NEVER spend a cent on a thread of material coming from this smoke show & STRONGLY advise anyone of the same!

Me compré la chaqueta Rush y estos pantalones los dos de color “BLACK” y la chaqueta es más oscura que el pantalón, una vergüenza gastarse 1300€ en un traje entero que ni combina pero el color se “supone” que es el mismo.

Sabre pant fashion cut

I had these pants prior to this exact pair and the seem came undone and Arc Teryx replaced them with no question, they were amazing, easy to deal with and quick responses. The new pair of the exact same size is a completely different cut, more of a fashion cut than a performance cut. I have lived in Vail CO my entire life and ski all the time, and this is the worst fit pant I have ever had. I telemark as often as I alpine and the cut makes them difficult to make turns. I am very disappointed that the pant changed over the years. I believe Arc Teryx is a great company but the Sabre pant is not what it used to be

Very good, highly recommend

I've used these pants for more than 50 days over two winters, in every condition. They are highly weatherproof, move well when ski touring and have been durable. In aggressive storms with high wind and snowfall they are very good, highly waterproof and windproof. The vents are are good, the pants find a good balance of waterproof and breathability. I have other pants I would use in spring for ski touring in very hot weather. The lining material on the inside is nice. The features with the built in belt are good, and thigh pockets are the right size for a phone or small notebook. If there is anything to add, it would be nice to have at least one small pocket in the normal place for keys or chapstick. They're expensive, but you get what you pay for with arcteryx.

The Reviews Were Right

Been a big fan of Arcteryx since the 90's when things were made in Canada. Read the reviews from last year and thought the "revised" version would have addressed the issues noted e.g. crotch too high to a point of being uncomfortable. Unfortunately not so. I'm also not a fan of the bell bottom style replacing the zippers. Otherwise the Sabre pants look high quality consistent with the Arcteryx brand. I returned them.

At first I thought I would be cold with these pants because it is a shell. When I go skiing I wore these and a rho heavyweight pant and I have never been cold even in -25+ celcius temperatures… these have great durability and keep you very warm! If you are hesitant to buy them go for it, I love them!

I'm writing this review from a backcountry lodge in the Selkirks. These are performing so well. Good venting during climbs, great wind and snow shielding on descents. Paired with the Beta AR jacket. Great investment.

Plus souple, mais beaucoup moins isolant (contre le froid ou le soleil chaud au printemps) que la précédente version, que j'utilisais sans collant jusqu'à -10° -15°.
Désormais ce modèle ne présente plus aucun intérêt: besoin d'un collant quand il fait moins de +5° et trop chaud au printemps car la matière ressemble à du nylon qui transmet immédiatement la chaleur!!!

Do you like holes in $600 ski pants?

These pants are a replacement for a pair I bought for my husband at the beginning of the season. They tore after two months use at Deer Valley so not exactly rough and wild terrain.

The Fit on these is not great. The rise is shockingly short... which is an extra strange feeling on a longer "Tall" pant. The waist and lower leg are fine. The top block fit of this pant is bizarre; Very restricting. It's honestly impressive how unbalanced the fit is... They're giving Women's Y2K low-rise jeans.

Poor fit

I don't love these pants the way I love my other Arcteryx items. I got them in the same size as my softshell pants. The waist and length fit appropriately. However, they ride uncomfortably high in the crotch as if they're meant to be low-waisted jeans. I keep trying to pull them down without relief. While I like how the upper legs are tapered, the articulation through the knees leaves a lot to be desired. I feel like the pants are always getting stuck on my knees--a feeling I have never had with my softshell pants. Hopefully future models of this pant are better. I would not recommend buying this model.

These pants are absolutely perfect to simulate what dipping your feet into the ocean is like. Completely dry pants but it will absolutely pour snow into your boots. The elastic is so loose that I can fit 3 fingers underneath without even touching the pants, and there is no hook

The fit in the hip area is acceptable, but it is too wide in the lower part of the trouser legs. There is no possibility of adapting to the ski boots with Velcro or an elastic band. The material used does not give the impression of typical Arcteryx quality.

Great Freeride and Freetouring Pants

I am using this pants for freeriding, freetouring and ski mountaineering as a Ski Guide in Austria. The Gore-Tex Performance shell material is highly breathable and allows for long climbs. Still provides great protection against the elements...

Excellent ski pants for all conditions

Held up perfectly in heavy rain in the valley and snowfall and heavy gusts on the slopes. Took a few hard falls and not a scratch to the pants. The protectors held up to contact with the ski edge and show only faint marks where they were hit. Blocks wind completely and therefore is already warm with just a base layer up to 0°C and below. Lots of pockets and the side vents are great to manage heat on warmer days or when your working hard on the slope.
The current fit is a bit controversial as the rise is lower than expected and I can see how that won‘t work for every build but fortunantely works great for me.
Overall it‘s a great tool for the mountains that I would highly recommend to anyone that is looking for robust ski pants to integrate with a layering system.

These are a great pair of pants. Im a mountain guide and have specific needs from my clothing. Specifically durability, and functional pockets. The thigh pockets are a great size and well positioned, and the right one has a perfect sized little sleeve for a transceiver. Im really happy with these pants, they are a great buy.

Questionable designs for orig and revised Sabre

This review is for both original and revised Sabre pants. I replaced my Rush pant with Sabre as Rush pant is no longer available. The previous version Sabre isn’t very suitable for snowboarding. Its pant cuff is too fragile (unlike Rush pant) and torn from friction between the snowboard boot and snowboard binding highback less than 1 year. It was not deem warranty eligible by Arcteryx. So I purchased revised Sabre pant. I am still worried about the pant cuff. Its new cut is so weird and fits so poorly. Very limited room in front zipper area.

Very uncomfortable for moving around.

I didn’t expect such an uncomfortable fit around the waist and crotch area. I’ve never had a Arc’teryx product that fit like this. Very uncomfortable and tight for ski touring or even just walking around. Materials seem to be of very high quality but without a functional fit I can’t wear it.

Great Pant!

Horrible Sizing and Lack of Adjustability

Fantastic product but the waist measurements are WAY off......a lot. I am 6', 175, with a solid 32" waist. The Medium size can't even button so I got a large and it way too big. The sizing guide says that the Medium fits up to a 34" waist.....not a chance. This is too good of a product not to have an adjustable side waist mechanism that provides for a range of adjustable waist sizes within a Medium or a Large. The built-in belt is not and should not be that mechanism. Other than the sizing, this is a 5 Star product....

Sizing is TERRIBLE

Long-time Arcertyx user here. Have rotated between 2 Sabre jackets and a Rush for the past 10 years. They still look and function great.
Bought a pair of Sabre pants online for this season. Wow, who are they made for? I guess Arcteryx only wants to sell to skiers who are 6-2 and 135 pounds. I bought L as that's what I wear in everything. Not even close. Sent them back for XL, can finally get a leg into them but they are so long that they only fit NBA players. Returned again, wasted a month and bought a different brand. I'm not an Arceryx basher. Have loved their gear and want to buy more but who in the world are they trying to fit???

Great ski pants

I bought this a year ago, before the fit got revised. The quality is great. The outside surface feels really soft and easy to maneuver.
The one thing I really want is relaxed fit. There is a relaxed fit pants for women’s Sentinel, which is a counterpart of this product. I hope I can have more choice in fit for Sabre too.

Could be, would be, but isn’t.

Could be would be five stars. These have the best material and cuffs of any ski pants I’ve tried but they loose three stars for three reasons. The fit is terrible around the crotch. I tried three different sizes and all were too tight to crouch or take a high step. The thigh being the only pockets on the pant should be killer but they are not. They are too small both in size and zipper entrance, I could barely get my hand in them. Lastly the double button zipper design is sloppy and doesn’t function well. The buttons are awkwardly placed and the gate is too short. Too bad because the jacket is killer and now it’s impossible to use the slide n lock connection.

Great materials used

Returned them as soon as I saw them the fit is way off as is the colour selection . I’m not sure who in charge of the sizing and the colour selection but unfortunately Arc’teryx is loosing me as a client . They have gone downhill since I first bought my first gear from them back in the nineties . Built for the concrete jungle no longer for the actual true adventure and outdoors exploration . Arc’teryx please step up your game and bring it back to being made in Canada .
Bring back solid colours . Not this hipster stuff .
The buttons used on the waist are horrible they don’t even hold , the pop the movement you crouch.
End of my rant .

I want to say I have the same problem lately with Arc’teryx. They seem to be built for skinny/kids bodies instead of adults. I wear a medium in every brand, but am having to sell a brand new pair of Beta AR pants because they are so tight.

Sizing Way Off

I bought a Large regular size of these pants and they didn't fit at all. The material and quality is outstanding and I was very excited until I started to put them on! I wear a 36 inch waist pant with it being comfortably loose. the sizing chart said the large would be equivalent to a 37" and that was way off. It is extremely tight around my waist like a real snug 34" you can't make work.
