Macai Jacke Herren

The Macai jacket is excellent, warm and very well constructed.

Just skied for 3 days and really had a good range of temps to try this jacket , from 12°F to 34°F. With proper base, this jacket can keep you warm and vents great. I struggled a great deal while on the lift when trying to zipper the entire jacket up and down the neck area. Terrible. Had to hold the collar by my teeth to get zipper down and forget about getting it all the way up on your own. The zipper ease of use, all of them, are what you’d expect on an $300 jacket. Also, I’m 6’, 175 lbs with a 32” waist. I bought the medium and felt like my big brother let me use his jacket. It was big. It was long in the sleeve and too roomy.

Pros: - Fits incredibly well, super comfortable - Wildly warm; pit zips are a godsend, and VERY happy they're mesh-lined! - Looks so good it makes for an awesome (very) cold-weather everyday jacket, especially if you pop off the hood and skirt - Lining is comfortable enough to wear over bare skin, just be sure you open the zips so you don't sweat in it - Cinches well everywhere, keeps out everything Cons: - Wildly warm; seriously, if you're snowboarding in this thing, unless you're snowboarding down Annapurna wear it over just a thin base layer - The external chest pocket is almost entirely useless, and is good for no more than a credit card, a few bills, maybe a stick of gum or a lighter. Expanding that pocket to fit a phone would be really, really appreciated by probably everyone, since that leaves you with having to use the internal chest pocket (which is nice, by the way) and unzipping every time That ridiculous external chest pocket really is the only flaw in this jacket, and it's become not just a mountain jacket, but my everyday super cold-weather jacket (I run warm, and over a t-shirt in -7 C with moderate exertion was sweating so much I took the jacket off for 30+ minutes to cool off). This is a beast of a jacket, and one friend who's seen it has already ordered his own.

Bought this jacket on a good rainy day in NH out skiing. It is so warm and the heavy rain didn’t stand a chance. It looks amazing to rock daily without it looking like you are wearing a ski jacket. You may need to sell a kidney afford one but you have 2 kidneys so I say it’s worth it.

I love Arcteryx gear but sometimes they forget that technical outweighs fashion. My first priority is down and that’s getting harder and harder to find. If I’m back country then it’s a shell and Thorium mid layer. If it’s on the hill you also need the space in the jacket to carry glove liners, ski pass, phone and usually a small walkie talkie. The jacket looks like it has two outer breast pockets…but there is only one measly pocket and not sure what it’s for. The spot for an electronic ski pass is up near the shoulder not down near the wrist which is the norm so you can swip at the gate. It’s is an old school pass that needs to be scanned…no where to attach it on the outside. At the price of this jacket now…it should be perfect.

After owning several different high end winter ski and luxury jackets / parkas, this one is very basic for the price point. Some inner cuffs would be nice, maybe a zip out inner puffer perhaps? I also tried on several jackets this season in hopes of finding a new snowboard jacket.I found that some other brands hit the mark at around $600. I feel this jacket should be half the price for what it is ultimately.

Owned the Macai for four years now. Pros: light, warm, simple design Cons: main zipper broke after very light use. Liner fabric inside sleeves is coming apart from the cuff (only from rubbing against skin), my gloves always go over the outside of the jacket. Overall quality is not commensurate with the price. If the logo is important to you, get one. If it’s not, there are superior products elsewhere for less money.

This jacket is great on cold ski days. The insulation quality is superb without the weight. the detachable hood has room to go over you helmet and really keeps your head warm. The fit is not bulky and has great range of motion for skiing.

just bought my second Macai jacket. wore the first out and then traded it in. Wear it skiing and walking my dog at 5am! simple perfect. Love the warmth and wind breaking ability. also love the collar and the length (waist cuff, did not want something that covered my butt)

Bought Macai jackets last year for my three sons and they all love them. We live in Minnesota and it is the first winter jacket that has kept them completely warm and dry.

J’ai acheté l’ancien modèle il y a presque dix ans. Ce fut un excellent achat parfait pour le ski alpin, la rendo par temps difficile ou tout simplement lors de journée froide en ville. Mon meilleur souvenir fut lors d’une rendonnee au mt Washington, a l’approche du sommet il y avait une neige mouillée qui tombait et des vents a près de 100km/h, lorsque j’ai sorti ce manteau de mon sac, j’ai eu l’impression de sortir une robe de chambre chaude qui m’a tenu au sec et au chaud durant le reste de l’ascension et toute la descente pendant que mes amis gelaient et pestaient contre la météo ! Il n’y a pas de mauvaise météo, lorsqu’on est bien habillé ! Seul petit défaut, après 6-7 ans et de nombreux lavages l’isolation sous les bras au niveau des fermetures éclaire était moins bonne. Mais je recommande tout de même vivement ce manteau !

I have owned this jacket for a few years. Not once have I ever been cold. From snowboarding to taking the dog out in the snow with just a t-shirt.

So after missing out last year (all sold out!), I finally got my hands on a Macai this year. And what a jacket it is. I've been wearing the Macai LT for two years and its truly excellent jacket, however on the coldest days, I have an Atom LT vest underneath. I was looking to reduce that a bit, and wanted for a heavier top layer and the Macai is the one for the job. First world problems to be sure, but sometimes, once in a while, it's ok to have nice things too. The Macai this year is a ever so slightly more trim than in previous years, but it still fits incredibly well, and extremely well constructed. If you've ever wondered, why doesn't someone make the ultimate ski/winter jacket, that is super warm, totally proof against the elements, BUT doesn't make you look like an puffy overstuffed cabbage roll, then look no further. This is the jacket for you.

Amazing warmth , good fit. As for other jackets, pockets are too small. Hoods could be better, feels like having a light duvet over your head

I bought this jacket for resort skiing, with minimal layering. It is very warm and waterproof. But the negatives are far too many to justify the cost. The zipper pulls are too small to operate with gloves on. The front zipper does not have a two-way pull. A resort specific ski jacket should have a two-way zipper. The pockets run small-ish, and the chest pocket is useless for anything other than tissues or lip balm. The neck opening is too small to comfortably accommodate wearing a face mask on cold days. The shell material is fragile. I ripped mine on my first tree run meaning I could not risk any more tree skiing for the remainder of my trip. The specs indicate N40p Gore. For the cost, it should be heavier material like the Sabre jacket, (N80p) or more. I will be having this jacket repaired and selling it. Between outerwear and clothing I own over 25 other Arc’teryx items, all of which would receive 4.5-5 star reviews. The Macai does not. It could be a great jacket if overhauled.
