Will it re-waterproof my jacket?

The Nu Technical Detergent is designed to clean technical garments and help restore their performance by removing dirt, oils, and residue that can affect breathability and water repellency. However, it does not re-waterproof a jacket or replace its Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment. In many cases, washing a garment with Nu Technical Detergent and then drying it according to the care instructions can help reactivate the existing DWR finish. If water is still not beading on the surface after cleaning and drying, a separate DWR treatment may be needed. For best results, we recommend following the care instructions specific to your garment, as GORE-TEX and down-insulated have different care requirements. Does Nu Technical Detergent leave a smell (e.g., any unpleasant detergent smell) on the jacket after the wash? I see on one review it said their garment was left with a smell. Therefore, asking to get a confirmation.

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Nu Technical Detergent leaves no residual scent on your gear. While a fragrance ingredient may be listed, it is designed to rinse out completely and leave the gear unscented. Once washed and dried, your item will not retain a noticeable smell. We hope this helps!

Hi Arcteryx, I have both a Ralle Parka coat and a Ralle Down Parka coat. Should I be using the Nu Technical Detergent on the Ralle Parka and the Nu Down Detergent on the Ralle Down Parka?

Hi Stan, thank you for your question! The Atom Hoody is a versatile synthetic insulated jacket finished with a FC0 DWR treatment to repel moisture. To clean the jacket, the Nu Down Detergent is the best choice for insulated garments. It’s designed to gently clean and restore loft and performance in both down and synthetic insulation. The Nu Technical Detergent, on the other hand, is better suited for GORE‑TEX, fleece, and softshell fabrics. If you notice that the jacket is no longer beading water, detergent alone won’t restore that; the DWR needs to be reapplied.
