Hi Jeff, thank you for reaching out. The Cerium SV Hoody Men's is designed as a standalone outerlayer for severe cold conditions. It is not designed to be layered underneath an outer hardshell. If you’re looking for a down-insulated jacket to wear beneath a waterproof shell, we recommend the Cerium Hoody (non-SV version). It’s lighter, more streamlined, and works perfectly as a midlayer while still delivering excellent warmth-to-weight performance.

Bonjour Marc, et merci pour votre question. La veste à capuche Cerium SV n’est pas imperméable. Comme toutes les pièces de la gamme Cerium, elle est conçue pour offrir une chaleur optimale dans des conditions froides et sèches grâce à son isolant en duvet. Elle reçoit toutefois un traitement déperlant DWR, qui permet à l’eau de perler et de glisser en cas de faibles précipitations. Pour une protection complète contre la pluie ou la neige mouillée, nous recommandons de l’associer à une veste hardshell imperméable.

The Cerium SV Hoody uses 1000-fill grey goose down, which offers an outstanding warmth-to-weight ratio and is ideal for alpine environments where lightweight performance matters. In contrast, the Ralle Down Parka uses 750-fill grey goose down, combined with a GORE-TEX shell for waterproof protection. It's longer and heavier build provides more coverage and weather protection, making it great for urban or cold-weather everyday use. While the Cerium SV has a higher fill power (meaning more warmth per gram), the Ralle contains more total down and offers extended coverage. This makes direct warmth comparisons tricky because factors like activity level, layering, and personal comfort all play a role. For this reason, we do not rate our garments based on warmth. If you’re looking for maximum warmth with minimal weight for mountain environments, the Cerium SV is a strong choice.
