Essential

This jacket is super lightweight and packs into the front pocket. Offers a good amount of wind/rain protection for the weight. I wear it year-round and never leave for a trip without packing it into my backpack pocket. It saves me from freezing to death on my plane rides every time I travel somewhere warm where I otherwise wouldn’t have a jacket on me.

Yes, I recommend this product.

One of the greats

bought my Squamish to fulfil a very particular need: a superlight jacket to wear over a light fleece. To be honest, the sizing options aren’t perfect for this. This jacket is designed to go over a base layer, like a hooded wind shirt, really. The xl fiit over a tshirt perfectly for example BUT I ended up going for the slx for my purpose. It is maybe a bit long and a bit baggy as a result. So why 5 stars? Because this is undoubtedly the best, most breathable, wind jacket I’ve found, by a mile. The fabric breathes so well it is incredible, and feels fantastic, not kind of plasticky like some (still very good)competitors. It shrugs off light precipitation like a champ too. I can’t mark it down just because I chose to size up for a use that the jacket isn’t really designed for…but if arcteryx made a slightly less fitted jacket of this material, I’d be on it in a flash. Would be an awesome bike jacket, too, in the smaller size. I may just have to get another.
Q: Pros:
A: Super breathsble
Q: Cons:
A: Really a windshirt

A: All around

Light and useful

Good little windbreaker. Lightweight, inexpensive, stuffs in its own pocket. Unfortunately also retains sweat smell VERY quickly and doesn't breathe quite as well as I'd hoped. The fit is somewhat accurate although sleeves are unusually long; longer than other Arc'teryx jackets I have in same size.

A: Light, compact

Great jacket, not waterproof

This is a comfortable wind shell that offers some protection against wind but is still breathable. I wore it on the Grand Teton and Cirque Traverse this summer and while it did help with wind, it was not nearly as effective as my Arc'teryx Beta SL Gore-tex shell which was much more comfortable (and something I'd carry anyway for emergencies). This packs up really small which is an advantage, but I really only see myself using it in situations where I wouldn't bring my hardshell. The yellow color is great, but it did get dirty after a few months.
Q: Pros:
A: small, light
Q: Cons:
A: not waterproof at all, got dirty

A: Alpine climbing

Great in windy conditions

I baught this jacket for my trail running kit but i end up using it for pretty much all outdoor activities. It keeps you protected from the wind without hearing you up. What I particularly like is the fact that when you use the hood to protect yor hed from the wind you can still clearly understand people that are walking behind younon a single trail. Don’t expect any water protection, bit thats ok, Arc’teryx doesn’t claim it does.
Q: Pros:
A: Light weight, protects from wind

Love it!

Super versatile piece of kit! Works great as a standalone breathable windbreaker and as a layering piece. I recently wore this on top of a base layer for a few 14ers here in CO and it kept me comfortable even in ripping wind while still being extremely breathable. Can also easily throw a puffy on over it to create a nice insulating layer. Really happy with this purchase, for the weight, its a no brainer to carry everywhere.

Weird sizing.

I bought this recently and the jacket fits perfectly apart from the body being very long, almost like I'm wearing a parka. For this reason I returned the item as I just didn't feel comfortable. Disappointed as it is a thin but very practible jacket which would have been ideal for me.

No, I do not recommend this product.

A Perfect Jacket

I have owned the Squamish for around 6 months now, testing it in a variety of conditions/environments/activities. It surpassed all expectations in every one. Trail-running in the winter? Great. Backpacking in sand dunes in Colorado? Amazing. Tracking grizzlies in light snow/rain? Still dry and still warm. Windproof and the DWR applied to this garment makes it better than most rain jackets from lesser brands. The durability of the face fabric made me choose this over the Patagonia Houdini. Will be buying another one as soon as possible.
Q: Pros:
A: Durability, Windproof, Versatile

Great for wind, but not so much in rain

Been using this as a wind jacket and it is great for wind, considering how light and thin it is to carry around. Little bit of drizzle was also okay but I got stuck in the woods in rain once for almost an hour and it performed terrible making water go inside the jacket. Did not check the rain mm capability so my bad. Other than that, I love this jacket and the nice color.
Q: Pros:
A: Thin, Nice color, wind protection
Q: Cons:
A: Rain protection could be better
Q: Activity
A: Running, Cycling

Trying to convince myself that it's not a Jacket..

If you think of this as a hooded sweatshirt (minus the pouch) then you might not be disappointed with this. I'm still getting familiar with the Squamish hoody but my biggest issue is the lack of side pockets. The chest pocket isn't too deep but my iPhone 12pro fits in there with no issue. Love the reflective logo on the chest. Love the lightweight packability. Hate that there are no side pockets. I would suggest sizing up if you want to wear layers under this. Otherwise tts is ideal.
Q: Pros:
A: Lightweight, Stylish
Q: Cons:
A: Slim, no side pockets

Bad fit

I am exactly size L in every measurement (according size chart). I have lots of Arcteryx clothes and every one fits me well except this one... Too tight from arms and armpits/chest. Tried XL but it is huge on waist/hem area. I have always been praising Arcteryx quality and fit because never had any problem before. Selling product that doesnt fit the way size chart claims is serious quality problem. Older model fits well. What is going on???
Q: Cons:
A: Bad fit
Q: Activity
A: Mountain biking, hiking, skiing

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great lightweight shell!

Grabbed this jacket for climbing and to have as a lightweight shell for running/ski touring. Wanted something that I could throw in the pack that wouldn't take up too much space or add too much extra weight and this guy fits the bill. Is also a lot more durable than expected too, especially for how thin/light it is!

Tolle Windjacke.

Trim Fit

I typically take any size medium Arcteryx clothing item and it fits my tall slim frame perfectly. That said, the "trim fitting" medium Squamish hoodie fits me snug to the body - especially in the arms - though it was not restrictive with movement. Heavier folks should probably take a size up. I would be inclined to wear it over thinner layers. Otherwise, it's exactly what I was looking for in a light/packable windbreaker.
Q: Pros:
A: Light, packable
Q: Cons:
A: Be mindful of trim fit
Q: Activity
A: hiking, photography, city walks, camping

Yes, I recommend this product.

Super versatile!

Bought this windbreaker recently and have already used it more than expected. It breaths super well and the fabric feels way more comfortable next to the skin than other windproofs I've worn from other brands. It's shielded me from some blustery and drizzly weather whilst out on my mountain bike, and whilst it's not marketed as a bike specific layer, it has a long enough tail to stop any uncomfortable gaps on my backend and the hood fits comfortably over a helmet. It also looks great! So I've worn it for some breezy afternoons in the beer garden too. One thing to be aware of is the photos online don't quite match the colors. I ordered the red looking jacket and it's actually more of a burnt orange. No problem for me, but just an FYI.
Q: Pros:
A: Breathable, comfortable, great cut
Q: Cons:
A: Colors don't match online photos
Q: Activity
A: Mountain biking, beer drinking

Yes, I recommend this product.

It fits nearly perfect which prompted concern that when layering it wouldn't work, I was wrong. When I’m wearing layers underneath the jacket it feels like I’m wearing one jacket. Plus when it is a great jacket for warmer weather as well given it’s very light weight design. Great product!!

Very good windbreaker

I have purchased 2 squamish hoodies in the last several years, They are a very good hiking jacket very good wind breaker and if it's a light rain or damp conditions they should keep you fairly dry. If I were to improve 2 things about them I would put side pockets as each one of them does not have side pockets, Also I would make them just a little bit bigger as to allow a fleece or a sweatshirt or Henley on a colder day
Q: Pros:
A: Very good wind breaker and hiking j
Q: Cons:
A: No side pockets
Q: Activity
A: Hiking

Yes, I recommend this product.

Coupe vent parfait

Wonderful lightweight windproof layer

I ordered this jacket in Black size M for use in my layering system. Ideally to be a layer for when i know there wont be rain, but there will still be lots of harsh winds. I use this over the top of the Atom LT hoodie. The two hoods clash a bit, and its maybe too tight to have a medium Atom LT under a medium Squamish. If i could go back and order again without faffing with returns i probably would have ordered a L just for extra room for layering. However, this works great on warmer days just worn over a T shirt! It packs into its chest pocket into next to nothing so its great for packing into your bag, or even a fanny pack. Its very minimal, only the one pocket. But, seeing as its designed to be ultralight, all the bells and whistles have been trimmed down to ensure maximum utility for minimal weight. I would completely recommend this jacket, for standalone use, or over a warm layer like a fleece or a down or synthetic jacket! Ideally, pick a midlayer with no hood to avoid the bunching and interference.
