Thank you for your reply. I already sent the jacket to the Gore Tex customer service. They tested the jacket and I got it completely refunded afterwards. There must have been a problem with the gore tex material itself. Their tests confirmed the wetting out problem and it was mentioned that it is not repairable. I would like to mention that regarding weight, fit and design I really liked the jacket very much and am thinking about buying it again , hoping it was just a one time material problem.

Lightweight & Versatile

So many products are great for multi use and this is one of them for me. When I am out touring, I'm looking for a shell that is super lightweight and compact. While hiking up, I need a jacket that packs down easy and fits in my pack. I've found this high performance jacket my go to for ski touring. It's light and has great packability! It functions super well on stormy days and when it's wet out or a mega storm day, I hike up in this jacket and throw on the Rush IS at the top, never removing this layer, which helps me regulate heat and stay dry. This jacket is certainly fitted more for alpine climbing so I size up to ensure it fits the way I want it. For reference, I am 5'2" and ordered an XL. Could certainly run the L, but I love a baggier fit!

All time favorite shell!

The alpha has become one of my year round favorites! It’s a great rain shell but I frequently use it for spring skiing. I don’t leave the house for an adventure without it.

Didn’t last for the exorbitant price

Bought this jacket in 2018 and the cuffs are shredded. I’ve tried to glue the hems back down and the rips together but it doesn’t stay. For the price these jackets ought last decades. Very disappointing - would never buy another

The ideal alpine shell*

*although I will preface that I prefer the Alpha SV for cooler seasons / harsher weather. I love the design of the alpha jackets - the pockets that sit above the harness / hip straps are soooo clutch. In fact they're so deep that I can even fit my bearspray in one and nearly zip it closed [ideal when I'm lazy and dont bring the actual carrier or a vest with pockets for it]. I often tuck a pair of venta gloves or mitts into one of the pockets too. The vents are great for warm days, the shell dries quickly and this version is very lightweight. Rolls up easily to pack as well. If you're doing anything climbing or alpine related I can't recommend enough.

Love this jacket

Love love love this jacket. I just wish the pockets on the front were a bit lower and more to the side so I could stick my hands in even with a backpack on.

Wetting out and disappointed in customer service

I purchased this product as a Christmas gift. The first time worn in a moderate rain and it wetted out badly. I have 4 Arcteryx shells and have never experienced this problem. To date, the response from Arcteryx is very disappointing. It's an expensive jacket, which I am fine paying, but this particular item is severely flawed. It happens in global production processes, but when it does, companies need to provide support to its loyal customers.

I was wrong. Arc’teryx deemed the new $850 jacket in perfect condition. According to Arc’teryx we are unable to tell the difference between 'wetting out' and 'leaking'. Very disappointing response from customer service. A loyal customer and avid outdoor enthusiast who has praised your products to friends and strangers is now lost to your company.
