Nice - very climbable boot. Perfect feeling on rock - even serious climbs. Unfortunately a bit cold so I only use them in summer in rock terrain.

My first mountaineering boot, FANTASTIC

So I was heading to my first mountaineering course this summer and needed to finally invest a pair of boots. I didn't see myself doing much winter mountaineering, so the LT seemed like the ideal 3-season option. I always thought that mountaineering boots were going to be heavy and awful to break in... these were NOT! They are SO LIGHT I couldn't believe it! I was able to break them in wearing them at home and then on one short backpacking overnighter (I brought an extra pair of hikers for when my feet got a little sore, but no blisters). Then I took them straight to the mountaineering course / camp, which was 7 days long. I wore them every day, a minimum of 6 hours per day on multiple glaciers and over 5 summits. They were FANTASTIC. With crampons, on all types of rock (WET scrambles too), mud, scree, anything! I honestly can't say enough great things about them.
Q: Pros:
A: Lightweight, weatherproof, comfort
Q: Cons:
A: None!
Q: Activity
A: Mountaineering, glacier travel, scrambles
Q: Your Height:
A: 5'11"

Light and stiff enough Volcan (and Ice) boots

I bought this boots for a specific porpouse, to use them on volcanic terrain, tough and rough to work as #volcanologicalguide guide. Even if they are light, they seems to be a good choice, expecially because they are seamless. Narrow fit, perfect for my feet. The only thing I would prefer is a one piece tongue around the ankle.
Q: Pros:
A: Stiff and light. Seamless
Q: Cons:
A: Let's see how much it is durable..
Q: Activity
A: Professional hiking on volcanoes as volcanological guide.
Q: Your Height:
A: 165

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Medium Duty Mountain Boot

I’ve used these boots for two seasons here in Alaska in rock and ice. They are just stuff enough for ice in semi auto pons and carry 100+lb hunting packs well. Feet have stayed dry and as warm as expected. If you are looking for a boot for use while hiking mellow terrain with light packs get a different model such as the TR. The one oversight was the lack of a loop on top of the back as they’re a bit fun to get in some mornings. This model sits in middle ground between a light hiking boot and a pure climbing boot, a niche that has needed some innovations I’ve felt. Great boot for its intended uses! Please continue making it, but not in clown colors, the new yellow is horrid.
Q: Pros:
A: Light, stuff, durable, rock grip
Q: Cons:
A: No heel loop, new color
Q: Activity
A: Climbing, trekking and hunting
Q: Your Height:
A: 6’

Yes, I recommend this product.

Enjoying the boots!

The Arcteryx Acrux LT GTX boots are solid. I tested them out on a recent trip that involved everything from creek crossings to glacier treks. Just be careful about the sizing; they seem to run a bit larger than standard. I usually wear a 10.5/44/27.5 and ordered the 10.5 US, but this turned out to be too large. I should have noticed in the sizing guide that a 10.5 US is 44 2/3 equivalent. The EU44 boot turned out to be true to size.
Q: Pros:
A: Comfortable and Capable.
Q: Cons:
A: Haven't found it yet.

Comfortable, Dry!, Versatile 3 Season Boot

I can't say enough good things about this boot. I bought them recently for a late-May climb in sloppy snow up a couloir in Colorado and was amazed at how dry and warm they kept my feet as I post-holed my way up through 2000 feet of wet snow. They are also very comfortable as an approach shoe and pair very well with snowshoes as swell as universal crampons. Following the couloir ascent I did a hike through the snowy backcountry in Rocky Mountain National Park, and after punching through melting snow straight into a stream several times, my feet still kept warm and dry. With normal hiking boots I would have used micro spikes on this hike, but the soles/tread on these things provide such great grip, that spikes did not feel necessary. They're also great at kicking steps without crampons on low angle slopes.
Q: Pros:
A: Warm, Dry, Comfortable, Versatile
Q: Cons:
A: Haven't found any yet!
Q: Activity
A: Hiking on rock and snow, mountaineering in snow, snowshoeing

A: 5'8"

Pure Excellence

I purchased these boots 2 years ago. Some of the best money I spent. I only use them when is pouring rain. Considering I live in S. Calif. I thought they would never be tested, however they were tested vigorously because of the rain and snow we had this past winter. I'm a Set Lighting Tech for Motion Picture, Film, and Television. There is no staying home just because it's raining or snowing. When the shooting schedule requires work, your footwear has to deliver..! I saw more guys fall and slip while walking in mud or wet grass, I did not suffer that fate once...! Heads up, walk around your block a few times to treat them in before you wear them to work a 14 hours day... Highly recommend...!
Q: Pros:
A: Fit and traction!
Q: Cons:
A: Stiffness at first
Q: Activity
A: Working in the rain and snow..! 12-16 days Rigging Electric

Light and compact

A really good quality modern summer mountaineering boot. Light, compact and comfortable. I shall look forward to wearing these whilst guiding the more technical rocky alpine peaks such as the Matterhorn, Dent Blanche and Eiger. They are a slim fit, especially for climbers who tend to have a more muscular foot.
Q: Pros:
A: Light and well made

Lightweight but they leak!

I normally use the Acrux AR in winter and they are great. However … I have a pair of the LT GTX version and although I don’t use them very often, these failed to be waterproof after fewer than 12 uses, just walking on mountain paths in wet conditions. I filled both boots with water on my return from the mountains and the right boot began to drip water through the fabric by the laces after a few seconds indicating that the GORE-TEX bootie had failed. I can’t recommend these boots as they don’t seem to remain waterproof with even light use. The soles are barely worn and the fabric shows no signs or wear.
Q: Pros:
A: Lightweight and comfortable
Q: Cons:
A: They leak after light use

A: Mountaineering

Frostbite in -5C while moving...

Where shall I begin, I bought the Acrux AR a bit over a year ago, wore them 3 times in the mountains (Garibaldi BC, etc) and the main zipper broke. Since Arc'teryx doesn't do refunds, even if it would be the right thing to do (who trusts a boot with the potential of being an actual hazard in the mountains...) I got a voucher. The AR is discontinued so I decided to try the light boot LT. I wore them one time on a recon hike and then last Sunday I wore them up Mt Harvey via the North ramp (including technical climbing). We moved quite fast and I have never before had to fight the cold as much as in these boots. It was -5C and half way up the gully, shortly after turning around wasn't an option anymore, I started to loose the feeling in my toes. I am not a newbie to cold, so I know how to layer socks etc. The fit of the shoe is also not the issue (no pressure points or circulation issue). Those boots felt like they have the thermal behaviour of sandals. Every time a bit of snow is around the boot, you can feel the heat loss immediately. Seriously, 2 days later and I still don't have much feeling back in a couple toes which means no work either. No mountain boot, however fast and light, should ever be that poorly insulated while being advertised as a "protection from alpine environment". Like, why even bother with crampon compatibility? I am beyond disappointed with this brand that stood for rugged gear and extremely good quality once... I guess, they can make more money with Jil Sanders-urban-outdoor-stuff-buying folks than with those who need the quality in the mountains. If you would like a lifestyle product for some quarry rock or dog mountain nature walk in the spring or fall, and you have money to throw out go for it.

Maybe it was due to dehydration and/or poor perfusion to your feet. I’ve used my boots in Alaska at those temps and been fine. Hard to blame a manufacturer for an individual’s hands and feet getting cold as everyone seems to be a bit different with gloves and boots.

First Impressions

For almost 2 years I have worn as a general purpose and everyday boot the Acrux TR GTX that to date has been the most comfortable boot I have worn. Now, I have purchased another Arcteryx boot, the Acrux LT GTX to replace my current 3-year-old mountaineering boot which is heavy and a so-so fit. After wearing the LT 4 times so far, my main concern was the rigidity of the boot be the same as my other mountaineering boot. I can safely say that this boot met my expectations in this area. For example, when scrambling around rocky terrain to position myself to take a photograph, I had excellent flex to gain my footing and traction. This boot is not super rigid nor super flexible like a sneaker. Which is perfect, especially when I have my photography backpack on that has both photo and non-photo gear. It is too early to say how the SuperFabric will hold up on various conditions of mountaineering including bushwhacking. I am confident that the rest of the components of the boot will hold up the same as my TR version.

Great 3-season boot

Lightweight, stiff, breathable, and waterproof, everything you could want in a three-season boot. Compatible with a rear-bail crampon, so semi-auto crampons only. They hike surprisingly well for a mountaineering boot, but still provides a nice and stiff platform to climb on when the going gets vertical. Breathability is excellent as the boots are not insulated, which is not an issue as they were designed for three-season use.

I am about tired of my reviews being taken down. I will keep riding them and you will keep taking them down. So I'll say it again. These are the most uncomfortable things I've ever put on my feet. People sometimes confuses mountaneiring adn Hiking.  The problemmis mountaneiring has different levels and often requires long hiking approaches. A mountaneiring boot will always be stiff to provide stability and accuracy in technical movements, but are often a pain for long hikes. Choose your majoritary playground and specific duties to choose your gear.

first mountain boot that didn't make me hate mysel

I hate wearing boots. I've done intense mountain activities for all of my adult life -- I built hiking trails for years, I summit peaks in four seasons. I avoid boots at all costs. I'm the kind of climber that ties crampons onto their trail runners (I know, I know). It's not just that I'm an idiot -- I have some nerve damage and plantar fasciitis that has always meant stiff-soled boots make my feet immediately go numb. Not so with this boot! I have a narrow heel and high arches -- I've always gone with La Sportiva shoes before for this. -- if those fit for you, these will be a great match. I bought these on an impulse before it was climbing season in the PNW this year and I'm so glad I did. My first outing in them was 4000' of kick-steps in firm snow. My feet felt great at the end of the day -- no hot spots, no numb toes. I'm delighted!!!!! These are super light and as such, I have some trepidation about how they'd hold up in scree or on rock, but they kill it in steep snow.
Q: Pros:
A: narrow heel; great on steep snow
Q: Cons:
A: not my color palette
Q: Activity
A: mountaineering

Good summerweight mountaineering boot

I'm a long term user of the original acrux boots and found the gator to be too warm for summer use. These are the easy solution, and I'm happy to own the pair of them. They're much more breathable of course, but that also means I wouldn't be taking these out in -20 like I could my other pair. These fit me well and work well for summer mountaineering, scrambling, and backpacking. Though I wouldnt recommend a mountaineering boot for an average backpacker for comfort reasons. I like the stiffness and support that they offer. These fit just like any other Arc'teryx footwear to me.
Q: Pros:
A: Light, comfortable, breathable

Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellent (women's) rock/snow mountaineering boot

I purchased a pair of these boots specifically for a week long trip of alpine rock climbing and walking on glaciers/steep snow in the North Cascades. At first, I was bummed that there is not a women's specific version of this boot. I am typically a US Women's 7.5 in a street shoe and fit perfect in US Women's 7.5 for Arc'teryx approach shoes (Konseal, Acrux, Arakys). My foot has a slightly wider last (I like 102mm last for my ski boots so my foot is on the wider side). I purchased this boot in a US Men's 7/US Women's 8 size since there was not a half-size option in the smaller sizes of this boot. I figured I'd be wearing slightly thicker socks being on snow and could use the extra room and tie my boots tighter if needed. I took these boots on a single long day hike in advance to make sure they didn't destroy my feet. I think it could be valuable to offer better small sizing options for people with smaller feet than myself as I am fairly average for foot size but I know many female climbers who would not fit in this boot with current sizing offerings. They fit perfect out of the box for my foot! I wore slightly thicker mid-cushion merino wool socks and saw no hot spots or problems with the boots slipping or rubbing. On my week trip, I walked through many streams with full submersion of the boot for brief moments and my feet stayed 100% dry and did not have any water leaking into my socks. They dried quickly on the outside and I pulled insoles out at night to allow my sweat to evaporate from the boots. The lacing system stays put and is easy to tuck into your pant leg over the boot. These boots fit very well with crampons on, and they also have a shockingly great ability to edge on small holds on alpine rock. I was able to climb carefully and delicately with the boots, especially after a few days of getting used to the edging and learning to trust the boot/rubber. I was super impressed with the climbing capabilities of this boot and was able to make up to 5.10 moves with these boots on with full confidence and edge control (and even some mixed climbing on rock with crampons on!). Super happy with these boots. I don't walk on glaciers much but I will add these to the rotation for easier alpine climbs because of the well rounded capabilities of the boot on snow and rock. Thanks for making such incredible products, Arc team!
Q: Pros:
A: waterproof, edging, comfy
Q: Cons:
A: need more half sizes in small boots
Q: Activity
A: alpine rock climbing, mountaineering, hiking

Yes, I recommend this product.
