Can I wear casual clothes for performance activities?

Since the most important part about clothing is simply that you have some, the basic answer is yes. But that doesn’t mean you should. Your average cotton tee, let alone jeans or sweats, aren’t made with fabrics or features that wick sweat, stretch with you on long strides and big moves, fight odour, offer maximum breathability for high output situations, or protect you from the wind and rain. Getting soaked in jeans during a rainstorm on an alpine hike isn’t recommended. So, while performance clothing works in casual settings, casual clothing doesn’t always work for performance activities. The choice is up to you, but we recommend technical clothing every time.
