Pockets!

I like the parka but I hate the pockets of this parka much more. The pockets are not insulated, so small and weirdly designed in a way that your hands will definitely be cold in it, not functional at all. I read people complaining about the zipper which I definitely understand but the pockets for me were a deal breaker and I can not recommend this parka for this reason.
Q: Pros:
A: Warm, weather resistant
Q: Cons:
A: Pockets, zipper.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Solid Performer

Had the previous Therme and I like the revision. Some folks don’t like the soft outer material on the update but I prefer it over the more ridged feeling outer. The new Therme is much lighter weight and has better maneuverability. It does run quite large and I probably could’ve gotten away with going down a size but I’m going to keep the XXL so I can wear heavier layers underneath. All in all a great parka and I am super happy with it. The only gripe is the hood is quite oversized.
Q: Pros:
A: Stylish, lightweight and warm
Q: Cons:
A: Big hood
Q: Activity
A: Running errands, walking and commuting

Yes, I recommend this product.

Hi, I would have to say less warm. Wore it up  in Whistler this past weekend and it was not cold up there and didn’t overheat in the jacket and def would’ve in previous Therme. I do think it breathes better, certainly feels less restricting or cumbersome.  Hope that helps.

Great Winter Coat

Purchased the medium and, similar to other reviewers, I found it ran slightly large so I ordered the small. The small had a slimmer fit (I'm 5'11 155 pounds) that looked good with nothing in my pockets. However, it looked horrible once you put gloves in the pockets--just no room. So, I decided to keep the medium, which still looks great and has plenty of room to put things in your pockets. I think the only thing missing on this coat is a waist cinch to keep drafts from coming up and in.
Q: Pros:
A: Roomy, Warm, Waterproof
Q: Cons:
A: No waist cinch
Q: Activity
A: Everyday wear.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Warm and Comfy

I like everything about this parka except for the zipper. It is difficult and frustrating to get the two sides of the zipper to engage. Without a functional zipper the coat is not easily useable. I’m disappointed. I’m sorry to say that I would not recommend this parka to a friend.
Q: Pros:
A: Warmth, style, color, fit
Q: Cons:
A: The zipper is difficult to operate.

Warm! But that zipper...

I was in need of a new winter jacket, and the Therme fits the bill. In -5°C and above, I found myself overheating while walking to and from work, but in colder temperatures I've been pleased with its performance. I've worn just a t-shirt underneath it in a wind chill of -15°C and have been plenty warm for the 15-20 minute walk. Ordering the right size is important also. I'm quite slim for 5'8 and the XS gives me enough room to fit a sweater or something else underneath if need be, and leaves room for a cushion of air inside the jacket for insulation. I haven't yet needed to pull the hood up, but it too is insulated and I think that it would perform well. The pockets are good enough, although I find the lower pockets to be a little small for fitting a decent pair of gloves in. The upper pocket on the outside is nice to have, as is the one on the inside of the jacket. The forage colour is great too. However, the zipper is far from ideal. While it's nice to be able to unzip it from the bottom for sitting in a car or whatever, this makes it difficult to get started. If there was a way to have the best of both worlds here, I would seriously consider giving it 5 stars. We'll see how it holds up over time, but so far I have no reason to believe it wouldn't; and for $850 CAD it had better.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Five Stars — It’s ALMOST Perfect

I was torn between the Therme and the Therme SV for the fact that the SV was longer, however, went I got a chance to try this on at the Arc’teryx Boston store, I quickly realized that this jacket is MUCH longer than the images suggest. I’m 5’10 and 200lbs and went with the XL for a bit more oversized feel — this jacket is below mid-thigh for me. Trying on the Therme SV and it was past my knees which was way too long for me. With that out of the way, I am so impressed by how lightweight this jacket is — significantly lighter than some competitor’s top down jackets yet somehow maintains its warmth. It’s sleek and modern, but best of all, waterproof thanks to its GORETEX. I noticed people complaining about the zipper, however, it’s INCREDIBLY easy to zip up, and the dual-zipper function is fantastic to use. This jacket is almost perfect for the daily city commuter, but I only have a couple of nitpick-y comments on features I wished it had. Number one being that I wish it had a thumb hole to provide a little bit of warmth in the hands. Second is some additional pockets on the inside of the jacket. Lastly, the hood is a little strange to me as I wish it had a bit more structure and extended out a bit more from the face to help on windy days.

Great coat but odd sizing

I tried on the 2020 Therme in XL which seemed to fit quite well, although the sleeves seemed a tad short. The main issue was I thought it would be too warm for the UK. I purchased the 2022 Therme in XL and whilst the sleeves are better and the parka should breath better with reduced Coreloft and work well in the UK, the sizing seemed odd. I am a 197cm and 115kg and I am a XL in everything (Atom, Radsten) but this coat in XL seems huge and vastly different to the 2020 model. I am a 46 inch chest and your size guide says XL but it seems a bit big and I may need to size down to a large. It is a great coat but sizing is confusing.

A: Warm, water/wind proof, breathable

A: Everyday

Hi AndyB, i liked the coat because of its urban/ sleek look with maybe limited layering. The XL fitted well in arm length but in chest areas it felt too loose and understood down needed to be close to able to insulate properly. The Large wasn’t quite as good on arm length (but still ok) but the general fit was better and still allowed room for a jumper/ suit jacket underneath. To answer your question, I am about 3-4 inches taller than you so it’s possible that my arms may be similar in length to yours. So if i found the large ok - then it might be ok for you. But the best thing you can do if possible is try it on or order both and send one back. Hope this helps, thanks.

Great Jacket - Awful customer service

I love this jacket and it would have been perfect for the temptation now in the UK…. But the zipper had broke, and through the warranty sent it in to Arcteryx to be fixed. On the 18th October they sent me an email in Norwegian, letting me know to send it to Norway. I did so and the package arrived over a month ago, which i had to pay for! Arcteryx emailed to let me know they had received it and would reply in between 1-2 weeks to let me know what would be done. It has now been 4 weeks, i have emailed several times with no reply, and it as almost as if they have forgotten they even have my jacket. Mid December, im starting to wish we weren’t snowed under for xmas. However i cannot fault the jacket, it was just a shame the customer service was not up to the same quality!

Helpful correction

I am hoping to get my problem solved. My Men’s, Therme Parka came with white creases and iron marks. I was told to mail it back and order a new one. For my troubles and the fact that it was ordered in Black Friday when some were on sale, I was given a code for 30% off. The code is not working. This project is quite a hassle at this busy time of year. I am hoping we can get this resolved and ordered w the promised discount on Monday.

Very voluminous

I bought a size medium after studying Arc's size chart. Oops. This parka runs very oversized in the body. If I could take it in by at least 10cm across the mid back it would perhaps fit me. In every other way it would serve my needs very nicely. I'm returning but i hesitate to order a small. Online purchasing can be too much of a hassle. For reference i'm 178cm and 72 kg and lean to average in build.

I'll add the actual measurements of the medium to assist other 'Arcterites' with their purchasing decisions. Sleeve from centre back to cuff end 95 cm Armpit to armpit across the back panel 62 cm Body at mid height across back panel 62 cm Bottom hem across the back panel 62 cm Drop from back of hood base seam down to hem 83 cm These measurements confirm that this parka runs very big and that the body has no tapering or shaping. It hangs straight down from armpit to hem.

Warm, well made jacket but runs really big

I bought this jacket looking for a single piece to wear around in the winter, rather than laying my typical gear, around town. Also a "less technical" look. For that it seems to be able to do the job well. Ultimately however I chose to return it, as even an XS was very large with a lot of room underneath the jacket. I am 5'6 130lbs. I own a fair bit of Arcteryx XS product, most of which fits fairly well, so keep this in mind when purchasing to maybe size down. I don't know if perhaps the idea was to wear multiple layers underneath this jacket, which would justify the additional size. Anyway, I returned it and will look elsewhere for a slimmer cut parka-style jacket.

You want this!

This parka is everything I was looking for. Walked around in freezing windy conditions with just a tshirt on and I couldn’t even feel the windchill. I look forward to the NyC weather now in February and March. I tried on the small in store and it was huge. Bought the xs online and am pleased with the fit. Chose the bitters color and it is a luscious brown not burgundy at all and I like that. Important jacket measurements: 18.5” shoulder seam to seam and the sleeve to shoulder is 25 1/4”. I don’t know why the website isn’t this specific. For reference I am 5’9” 150lbs and rarely use xs in anything, usually a small. Love this brown color because it is a great contrast to my blues, olives, and greys but fits right in. You want a commuter parka then you want this!

Great but not perfect jacket

In 2018 I bought a Camosun and loved that jacket but I found it wasn't ideal for wearing over a suit to work since it's a slim fit and not really thigh length. The Therme Parka in my opinion is pretty equivalent in terms of warmth in that it's great at sub 50 degrees but anything bellow 20 degrees I personally would start to layer. The front pocket is small, but it works for me since I have an iPhone Mini. The side pockets are large, soft, and warm. The two way zipper is a tad tricky to get a handle on but is high quality. If the Camsoun was slim fit the Therme Parka is regular fit if not a tad loose in the mid sections and arms. The internal cuff gaskets are also much looser on the Therme Parka which is nice when wearing a suit or if you have a large watch on. I am 5'5" and in both jackets I take a XS. The Gore-Tex is defiantly softer thus quieter than the Camosun but ha the same great waterproofing. My biggest qualm about the Therme Parka is the hood is non removable and there isn't any midsection/waist adjustment via draw string. Other than that a pretty awesome jacket.

Great warmth to weight ratio

I’ve had this coat for 2 seasons now, going on to its 3rd. Great coat that I find very warm and very lightweight for how warm it is. Love that it is also Goretex and waterproof as I have used this in heavy rain and the water just beads right off. I’m 173cm and the Medium fits well. Hood is roomy, but not overly. Great when it’s raining hard.

Amazing jacket but hood design is not great

Overall the jacket looks great and is very light for its warmth. For some reason Arcteryx likes to make its hoods ginormous. I get it for mountain climbing helmet stuff, but for an urban piece like this? It's way too big and flops over my eyes.

Early thoughts - really good!

I'd been thinking of a longer coat for urban and cold weather general use for a while. Didn't love last year's colours but this year with the black sapphire the colour is spot on. The Therme parka is just right for warmth so far, with enough room for even a suit jacket, yet great over a sweater or mid layers. I haev lots of Arc'teryx jackets and the Therme fits as a true regular M. I'm 6'2", 40" chest, 34" waist and the Medium is perfect. It has an internal pocket, quite roomy for an iphone 12 mini in its case. The hand pockets are great, and have good zips. I didn't fancy the Therme SV without an internal pocket and no zips on the hand pockets. Looking forward to trying it in proper winter weather! Very pleased so far.

Therme Parka (revised version)

I bought the Therme Parka in XS size. Quality/design seems great but it's still too big (from the chest to the waist). Bought a Veilance Monitor Down jacket three years ago in XS size and that fits perfectly. So I don't understand the sizing. Unfortunately, I have to return the Therme as it's just too loose fitting.
Q: Pros:
A: Too big
Q: Activity
A: Urban wear

Absolutely delusional, not worth it.

700 dollars for having a so bad inner lining? I never had a coat doing this, the inner lining started to look ruined and very poor after a month, with no reasons. I asked Arc'teryx to explain, they answered saying that "it's normal", normal? I paid $700 for having a coat that once opened seems old and broken after a month? Delusional. I would never suggest to buy this product, absolutely not worth it.
Q: Pros:
A: very light
Q: Cons:
A: poor quality inner fabric, zip

No, I do not recommend this product.

I agree with Javier. I’ve been extensively researching parkas and love the design of the Therme. I have zero problem paying a premium for quality products and quality service. SERVICE being of the utmost importance when you pay that premium and it doesn’t live up to your standards. It’s the differentiator. I’d rather buy an Arc’teryx over a Patagonia, but I know they stand behind their products. Thanks for publicly expressing how you handle dissatisfied customers. You helped me decide to look elsewhere.

Poor pckets, zippers, cuffs, waist,...

Bought this expecting a well designed jacket without trying it on. Didn't think much of it but as other reviews mention, the zipper is cheap and difficult to close and the elastic sleeve cuffs are too loose so air breezes up there. The main outer packets are very small, narrow and awkwardly shaped - my hands are average and they just fit in there without other stuff in the pockets. The chest outer and inner pockets are also both tiny - I have a small size phone and can barely fit it in the internal chest pocket but not the outer. The waist is not well fit and there is no ability to cinch it with a drawstring mechanism internally (or externally) and so, again, air rushes up from the bottom (it also makes the jacket look kind of dumpy/ill-fitting despite being my size). Finally, I'm not sure if it's a combination of the air leakage issuse from the cuff and waist but this jacket isn't warm enough on cold (Vancouver) days. This was the whole point of this parka for me. I have been an Arc'teryx fan since their inception, own numerous jackets and this one is a huge design flop. It's like no one wore it after it was made, even just for a few days, and saw the many design flaws. I wish I could take it back but it's been worn outside. A huge regret for this price point. I would strongly recommend passing on this terrible Arc'teryx product.

Warm and comfortable with one fatal flaw

The therme parka Is the perfect fit. I am 6 foot one 190 pounds with long arms, I love that this offers a fit for an athletic person. The Warmth of the coat is great. The Style is great, The features are good. However, the zipper on this therme parka sometimes takes me 3 to 5 minutes to sort out. As you can see from other reviews this is a common issue. how Arc’teryx can charge such a premium and put out a product with a fatal flaw like this is beyond me. For this reason, I have no choice but to not recommend this parka.
Q: Pros:
A: Great fit, good style, warmth
Q: Cons:
A: Zipper, zipper, zipper

Warm jacket. But after a few washes looks dingy

Bought this jacket a few years back and have sparingly washed it with proper detergent as recommended. But now it looks dingy and cheap.

Expect more

I have had this for a couple of years now and when I purchased this I genuinely thought it would be a coat that would last me for 20 years. Don’t get me wrong, this may still be a coat I have in 20 years but it is hard not to ignore the few quite significant issues with this coat. Firstly, is it warm? Compared to other more insulated and lightweight jackets this is not as warm. Yes, there is insulation but it’s not thick and bouncy. However, we do need to take into account that this is a waterproof jacket with more of an urban look with some insulation rather than an out and out insulated jacket. That said, when I am standing still ‘on duty’ I need multiple layers underneath and this is when it’s not even in negative temperatures. The pockets are small. So small that it is a struggle to fit gloves in and the chest outer pocket will fit an iPhone but would struggle to fit one of the larger sized phones. Again, when standing around in the cold it would be great to bury my hands in warm pockets but they sit shallow. And finally, the neck area with the hood down is just a draught magnet. This is a nightmare on cold day and necessitates a scarf. This is hard wearing and rain won’t get through but I feel that warmth has been sacrificed for a ‘look’.
Q: Pros:
A: Waterproof and long
Q: Cons:
A: Small pockets, limited warmth
Q: Activity
A: Commute, work, around town

No, I do not recommend this product.
