Question 1

I have an old pair of Rho AR (not LT). Are these similar to that model? I am looking for something with a full polar layer on the inside.

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi Engie, thanks for reaching out. The Kyanite Baselayer Bottom is made with Polartec® Power Stretch® Pro and features a warm fleece interior that traps heat to keep you warm. It is the closest alternative to the Rho AR Bottom that we currently offer. We hope this helps!

Question 2

Hi I bought these abt 6 yrs ago and still wearing them. I love the warmth..I’m reading in some of the comments that the material is thinner. What I love abt them is feeling the soft layer on the inside. Has that changed

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi Trudy, thanks for reaching out. We understand that a soft, cozy feel on the inside is important to you. The Kyanite Baselayer Bottom is made with Polartec® Power Stretch® Pro, which combines a highly durable nylon face with a soft, comfortable, brushed polyester interior made with recycled content. We hope this helps!

Question 3

I run cold, but hate so many layers that I feel like a stuffed sausage. Which is warmer -- the Kyanite Baselayer Bottom or the Rho Hybrid Insulated Bottom?

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Since you tend to run cold, we recommend the Rho Hybrid Insulated Bottom. It offers excellent thermal performance without adding bulk, keeping you warm and comfortable during high-output activities. Because it is insulated, it will feel warmer than the Kyanite Baselayer Bottom. We hope this helps!

Question 4

What size does the model wear

Sophie · Accepted Answer

Hi Kiki, thanks for your question! The model is wearing a size small. We hope this helps!

Question 5

Hi. It says line dry but will these shrink if put on low in the dryer?

River · Accepted Answer

Hello Andi, the Kyanite Base Layer Bottom is designed to maintain its shape and performance when properly cared for. While we recommend line drying to preserve its longevity, using a low setting in the dryer occasionally should not cause significant shrinkage. However, frequent machine drying may affect the fabric over time. For this reason, we’d recommend sticking with the care instructions found on the white tag.

Question 6

Hi what is the waist measurement for the size medium? and also what is the material ? Thank you!

River · Accepted Answer

Hello Carmen, the Kyanite Baselayer Bottom in size medium has a waist width of 71.5 cm, extending up to 85.0 cm. It is made from Polartec® Power Stretch® Pro, known for its excellent flexibility, moisture-wicking, and durability.

Question 7

Is there a tall version?

Dave · Accepted Answer

Hi Nikki, great question! The Rho Heavyweight Bottom is not offered in Tall sizes. We recommend visiting our sizing chart for more information.

Question 8

Does it work for mountaineering in very cold conditions?

Austin · Accepted Answer

Hi Alma, thanks for reaching out. The Rho Heavyweight Bottom was designed to be a warm, versatile Polartec® Power Stretch® Pro base layer for cold conditions during high-output activities like skiing and snowboarding. It is the warmest pant base layer that we manufacture. It’s difficult to say if the Rho Heavyweight Bottom would be warm enough for mountaineering given that the activity is often performed in very cold weather where wind might be quite significant. As a friendly reminder, we have a 30-day return policy if you wish to look at the pants in person and determine if they would work out for you.
