Question 1

why are some folks experiencing considerable pilling with theirs and others are not?

Rick, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello there, thank you for your question. Pilling is a natural occurrence that can develop over time as a result of normal wear and friction, and the amount of pilling can vary significantly depending on how the garment is used, what it comes into contact with, and individual wear patterns. As a result, some guests may experience more pilling than others, even with the same product. If pilling does occur, we recommend using a fabric shaver or pill remover to safely restore the garment's appearance. We hope this helps.

Question 2

When worn under a shell for resort skiing, how does this compare in warmth , breathability, and durability to the Atom Jacket?

Dante, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thank you for your question. If you're looking for a midlayer to wear under a shell for resort skiing, both the Kyanite Jacket and the Atom Jacket are excellent options, but they deliver warmth in different ways. The Atom will generally provide more warmth thanks to its synthetic insulation, making it a great choice for colder days or for skiers who spend a lot of time on the lift. The Kyanite relies on the insulating properties of its Polartec fleece and tends to offer greater breathability and moisture management, which can be beneficial if you tend to run warm or prefer a more versatile layer that transitions easily between activities. Both are durable designs intended for mountain use, but if warmth is your primary concern, we would recommend the Atom. If you value breathability and all-around versatility, the Kyanite may be the better fit. We hope this information helps you choose the option that best suits your needs.

Question 3

When was this jacket most recently revised? There are many negative reviews regarding pilling. Has that been addressed?

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Bill, thank you for reaching out. The Kyanite Hoody has been updated this season with a new fabric made with recycled content that offers superior durability compared to previous versions.

Question 4

Hello, as a lover of the old style kyanite, I was a little disappointed with the last versions face fabric which wasn't very durable. Have you revised the fabric used for this updated version? Thanks!

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Michael, yes, the Kyanite Hoody uses a new face fabric made with recycled content, offering improved durability compared to the previous version while still keeping the soft, comfortable feel the Kyanite is known for. We really appreciate you sharing your experience with the older fabric, and we hope this revision better meets your expectations.

Question 5

What are the chest / hip / sleeve / length measurements of the old kyanite jacket and this one in a SMALL? And how does this compare to same 4 measurements for the Delta jacket? Thank you

Sophie · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out! The Kyanite Jacket has not undergone any size changes between the 2024 and 2025 models, so the current measurements remain consistent with last year. For reference, we’ve also included the 2023 version, which had a slightly smaller chest measurement due to minor revisions in sizing. While hip measurements are not available in our system, we’re happy to share the other details you requested: in a size Small, the 2023 Kyanite Jacket measured 102.4 cm in the chest, 82.9 cm in the sleeve, and 56.3 cm in center front length; the 2025 Kyanite Jacket (same as 2024) measures 103.4 cm in the chest, 82.9 cm in the sleeve, and 56.3 cm in center front length; and the Delta Jacket in size Small measures 102.9 cm in the chest, 87.3 cm in the sleeve, and 57 cm in center front length. We hope this information helps!

Question 6

Does this jacket shrink in the dryer?

Sophie · Accepted Answer

Hi there, great question! This jacket shouldn’t shrink as long as the care instructions are followed properly. We recommend turning the garment inside out and tumble drying on low heat. For more detailed guidance, feel free to check out our Product Care page. We hope this helps! https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-care/wash-dry-everything-else/

Question 7

Has the fabric been updated to get rid of the pilling issue that was clearly a common thread amongst the negative reviews in recent years? I would like confirmation on that before placing an order to guarantee that is not an issue.

River · Accepted Answer

Hello there, thanks for your question! The fabric used in the Kyanite Jacket has not changed in recent years — it’s still made with Polartec® Power Stretch® Pro, a high-performance material known for its durability, comfort, and stretch. While it offers excellent warmth and mobility, some users have reported pilling over time, especially with frequent use or abrasion. To help minimize this, we recommend gentle care, avoiding constant friction, and following proper washing instructions. It’s also worth noting that this fabric is now made from recycled materials, supporting our commitment to sustainability.

Question 8

The current version (July 2025) is the same (still has the peeling problems) as the one that people reviewed 6 months ago or is it an updated version?

Sophie · Accepted Answer

Hello, thanks for your question! The reviews for the Kyanite Jacket reflect the current 2025 version, which features updated fabric made with recycled materials. We hope this information helps.

Question 9

Are the negative comments about the poor fabric quality in regards to the "Revised" product or does "Revised" mean you've made a correction to the poor fabric and this is a newer version that fixes those problems?

Dave · Accepted Answer

Hi Jack, great question! The reviews displayed on the Kyanite Jacket are for the current version that features a new fabric made with recycled content.

Question 10
