Question 1

The 2024 version was listed at 600 g while the 2026 version lists 635 g. All other details of the descriptions are the same, it seems. Can you please describe what changed between iterations to affect the weight?

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello there, thank you for reaching out. The 2026 Alpha FL 20 backpack does have a new model number, and with that update came a few small construction and material refinements that can affect the overall weight. While the design intent and feature set remain essentially the same, minor changes in hardware, fabric specification, or reinforcement placement can result in a slight increase like the one you’re seeing. We appreciate you noticing the difference, and your attention to detail helps us continue improving each iteration.

Helmet and or ski carry?

River · Accepted Answer

Hello there, since the Alpha FL 20 Backpack is designed around climbing, there are no designated areas to secure a helmet or skis, but the pack offers multiples lash points that you can customize depending on the gear you are carrying. For a backpack designed around skiing providing these features, we recommend the Micon collection.

Question 10

This looks nice and compact, but does the top mainly close with a cinch strap? Also, is the top strap only secured with a hook, not a snap buckle? I'm not a fan of hooks at all.

Brian · Accepted Answer

Answering my own question - there are 3 closures: an extensible internal sleeve with a rolltop closure that is totally waterproof, a cinch strap (more robust than normal), and the top strap which is hooked over the cinch strap (and need not be used). The top strap tail has a clever velcro mini-strap to keep the unused portion rolled up and out of the way. Very slick. I stopped by an Arc store to look at the pack and REALLY liked it, so I bought it. The Hadron fabric is very robust, as is everything else on this pack. With both an internal and external waterproof zipped compartments, it has enough pockets. The pack is totally sealed and white on the inside - nothing is getting wet, so you can even carry a PC around. Not inexpensive, but wow, what a pack.
