Great quality, but super narrow.

These seem great but the sizing of the Arcteryx footwear line is all over the place right now. I ordered these in a size 9 based on the size guide and previous experience. I measured my foot at 26.5cm long, which put me in a size 8.5 on the US size guide. I sized up to 9 to get a looser fit because these are listed as a "precision fit." This is on par with my experience with other Arcteryx shoes. I've had the Norvan LD3, LD3 GTX, Vertex, Konseal AR, and 2 pairs of Norman VTs, all in size 9, and all fit well. Well, I got the shoes a day ago and tried them on and WOW are they narrow. Narrower even than the Konseal AR approach shoes. I ordered from REBIRD too, so no returns, because I was confident after wearing many other Arcteryx shoes. Lesson learned, I should have tried on in store. Overall build quality seems great and the shoes are super light. Unfortunately I'm stuck with a pair I can't squeeze into. If you're looking, size up a full size from Arcteryx recommendations and maybe 1/2 size over what you've worn from Arcteryx in the past. Maybe avoid these on REBIRD unless you've tried them on in store.

Technical and Comfortable

This shoe makes me rethink my need/want for approach shoes for climbing! With its stiffness, great rubber and low to the ground feel I get out of the forefoot of the shoe I am always incredibly surprised how comfortable it is when I actually take them for a trail run. Especially with trail running downhill with a heavy heel strike even after running down for a long time it feels surprisingly great! The upper relative to leather offers less protection (obviously) so when it gets to the larger bouldery scree sections definitely need to be a bit more careful but with how light the shoes are worth saving the weight in my opinion.

Most Underrated Shoe

Design team nailed this one. Love it for hikes, runs and the daily wear. Forefoot stability is fantastic for the climb, unreal grip and solid enough for scrambles. The cushion in the heel is smooth and responsive. Never had such a high performance shoe also feel at home during normal activities as well. The perfect hybrid.

Very light

I was a bit skeptical buying a running shoe from a brand that isn't known for their shoes but these turned out to be great. I have been using them for off road running on ATV/mountain/dirt trails. They are VERY LIGHT for such a sturdy shoe. Price point is good for this in my opinion. They might not be a good fit for wide feet, however. My foot is narrow-ish and they fit perfect for me (e.g. I wear Bauer Vapor ice skates, which are for narrow feet.). I also had to go with shoe size smaller than what the chart recommended: I usually wear size 10M on the popular running shoe brands, the Arc'Teryx chart said 9.5M for my measured foot length but even that was too big and I ended up going with 9M.

Horribly Uncomfortable

As an avid outdoorsman and professional skier living in the PNW, I absolutely love Arc'teryx clothing and wear something from their collection almost everyday. Unfortunately, this pair of shoes is extremely uncomfortable and impossible to wear straight out of the box. I am very disappointed that I haven't been able to "break" them in after a month of trying. Sadly, this shoe doesn't meet the Arc'teryx standard that I have become accustomed to wearing. These shoes gave me blisters just wearing them around the house.

Stylish but with reservations

Generally a good shoe care though needs to be taken re the heel design as this can rub the heel quickly without wearing suitable socks (those with high and padded heel support)

Leichter Schuh für alpines Laufen

Der Vertex Speed Low ist ein sehr spezieller Schuh der für alpines, felsiges Gelände gebaut ist, daher auch die robuste Außensohle und der harte Gummi. Gerade beim "Scrabmling" ist er ideal, extrem leicht für seine Robustheit und man fühlt die spitzeren Steine nicht durch. Wenn es auf der Tour viel Fels gibt und man dort einen guten Halt braucht - meine Schuhwahl Nummer 1! Allerdings unterstützt er die Laufbewegung gerade auf einfachen, flachen Trails nicht so sehr -er rollt weniger gut, da er sonst im technischen Gelände nicht so gut halten würde.
