Not waterproof by design

These boots are light, and reasonably stiff. I think of them more as tall shoes, rather than boots. While they do have a 'bootie' waterproof membrane, their underlying design renders that membrane virtually useless.
There is a buried gap where the tongue is sewn to the shoe. Any water which hits the tongue, will be funneled down the tongue, through this gap, and under the membrane. This gap can be felt by loosening the laces, and sliding your finger forward down the edge of the tongue. Your finger will end up between the membrane and the shoe lining.
This means the shoe is waterproof only up to the bottom of the tongue opening. Any splashes which land on the tongue, will end up in the shoe. The water which runs down your pants and lands on the tongue, will end up in the shoe. It will keep your feet dry if you are going to walk in wet grass, but any more than that turns these shoes into buckets on your feet.

Very Disappointed – Not Waterproof as Advertised

I’m extremely disappointed with the Arc’teryx Men’s Kopec GTX boots. I returned my first pair because they were not waterproof at all, and sadly, the replacement pair has exactly the same problem.
After contacting Arc’teryx again, I was told that they could not offer any further assistance since a replacement had already been sent. This is incredibly frustrating — a product advertised as waterproof simply should not leak.
I’ve always trusted Arc’teryx and have been a loyal customer for many years, but this experience has completely shaken that confidence. These boots are not fit for purpose, and I now have to spend more money to buy an alternative pair that actually works.
For a premium brand like Arc’teryx, this is unacceptable. I strongly advise others to think twice before purchasing these boots if you expect reliable waterproof protection.

The Kopec GTX is built with a GORE-TEX® membrane, which provides waterproof protection under most conditions. However, because it uses a bootie-style membrane construction, where the waterproof layer is shaped like a sock inside the boot, it’s not designed to remain fully waterproof when completely submerged. Bad heel seem.

I'd love to give the shoe a five star. It's a very comfortable shoe throughout the only problem and the reason I get three stars is there is a seam that runs across the back between the Achilles and the heel. After Time walking in the shoes or hiking gives you blisters if they take the seam out. I would give a five star. And buy again.

Had to return - Forefoot and toe box were cramped.

The toe box and forefoot on a size 11.5 were too small for me so I returned them.
I have a pair of Arc'teryx NORVAN LD 3 shoes that are the same size and fit well. Otherwise it appears to be a nice shoe--thus the three stars. I'm debating on whether to order a size up.
