I’m not much of a trail runner myself but wanted more durability in my sneaker tread. These are incredible. These will do exceptionally well in slick conditions once winter approaches for road running. Did have to size down to an 8 from my 8.5. These are solid, couldn’t be happier. Arc’teryx might just be my new go-to running shoes!

En amour au premier essai, les Sylan enveloppent parfaitement mon pied et me procure un support adéquat et un rebond surprenant! Le rebord élastique empêche les débris d'entrer dans le soulier et la pochette pour ranger les lacets est vraiment pratique. Ils sèchent très rapidement après avoir traverser un cours d'eau ou marché dans la boue. Après déjà plus de 300km, aucun signe d'usure! J'adopte ce modèle pour mes prochaines longues randonnée.

a ripper of a shoe with an emphasis on the downs

I have about 125 miles in my Sylans, longest run being a 35 mile race. My initial thoughts were that the toe box is wider than I would have expected, honestly a bit wider for my tastes, but that hasn't affected me much. The most pronounced feature is the rocker. A soft yet stable midsole with enough rigidity to send you forward. The heel feels a bit soft and unstable when you put them on and walk around the house or whatever, but when actually running, the soft heel takes a lot of the impact forces when ripping down a hill, definitely making you feel faster. The downside of that to me is on technical downhills, the shoe sometimes wants to direct your foot in whatever direction the rocker is facing, sometimes kinda feeling like it's fighting you if you don' that a super good lockdown.
The outsole is awesome. I don't think anyone needs huge freaking lugs. These ones are deep enough to run in mud up a hill (I've definitely done that) but light enough you don't feel like your wearing cleats.

These shoes have elevated my enjoyment of running as much as a shoe can. They are VERY comfortable, while keeping performance in mind. It is an awesome shoe. They are fun and like to go fast! They perform on trails and rock, while feeling light on the feet.

Fast, grippy, perfect all terrain trail shoe

The Sylan is incredibly grippy on rock, roots and dusty or muddy trail. The lug adds decent stability in mud and was perfect for Alberta spring trails. I love the rocker as it intentionally pushes you forward and changes toe off contact gait for efficiency.

Runs very well on technical trails

This is my favourite shoe for easy to slightly technical trails in pretty much every conditions. It runs well on the flat, but especially in the downhills the traction is great and the outer sole grips well on muddy and rocky trails. I had get used to the banana-shaped rocker construction of the shoe, but after a couple of runs I really feel a benefit of having the rocker guide the stride.

Perfect shoe for long runs on the trails

My favorite trail shoe from Arc’teryx! Comfortable to wear durning long training sessions and races on the trails. The shoe is very durable and has good grip. I like that the toe bow is quite wide, which gives more room to spread the toes. The lacing is good and it’s perfect with the pockets where you can hide the laces, so you don’t have to worry about them fluttering around while you run!

New favourite all around mountain running shoe!

I have been loving the Sylan shoes for all types of terrain. I enjoy a shoe that feels light and durable. The shape of the Sylan feels as though it propels you forward while running, and has great grip in all terrain (tested in snow and on rocks, roots, mud, etc.) Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an all around mountain running shoe with good comfort over long distances.
