This product is amazing. Very waterproof but breathable so you're not overheating and then freezing. I love the underarm zippers, and the fact that im able to tighten the waist. I do not regret purchasing this, this is the best gear i have.

Love the underarm vents and being able to thighten the waist. This product is amazing, I love it, it's perfect for layering, it's very waterproof. Very light, compact, breathable. I had one previously to this one, and I do not regret buying them both.

Love the alpenglow color

I bought the Alpenglow.. I LOVE the pink!!! I'd like to give it 4.99 stars. 4 stars chosen due to oversized shoulders and triceps. I'm sure there is some function for the design but even with a puffy on the arms are just huge. I look like a sumo wrestler in it. Can't size down due to the jacket being smaller in the chest compared to other brands. The pit zips hang down so low when open that the rain will pour in at the opening. I pulled in a little on the hem for style and comfort because with out cinching (sp?) it up it has an over pronounced A-frame shape. Feels thinner from years back. Would like to see the Velcro better blended in at the wrist. The arms of Arc'teryx clothing has always been way too long on me but I'm short and even with other brands I hear women complaining that sleeves aren't long enough so if you're tall you won't have any issue with this jacket. The logo on the hood!!!

Great all-around lightweight shell

A lot of hardshell jackets tend to be somewhat bulky and heavy, making it difficult to justify packing one (for hiking, backpacking, mountaineering) unless the weather looks questionable. The Beta SL is a fantastic lightweight alternative that doesn't compromise quality and has been a great emergency rain and wind layer to have with me (just in case!) without taking up much space in my pack or adding much weight. The pit zips make it possible to use for high output activities, and the helmet compatibility allows me to bring it on spring/summer mountaineering objectives. It's also my go-to rain jacket for everyday, casual activities when I might end up outside in rainy conditions (walking my dog, running errands, etc.).

I love how light this jacket is. It makes it easy to justify packing even when the weather looks like I won't be needing it. It packs down nicely and does what I need it to. It's perfect for mountaineering, skiing, hiking or around town.

I love the pitzips and the weight but I will note that my jacket wetted out on the first use. It's still waterproof, just takes a Lil longer to dry.
DWR just isn't what it used to be!
Also the tags are in the pocket rather than inside, so if ypu have sensory things, you may not love that

J'avais acheté ma première veste de votre marque il y a presque 20 ans qui commençait à se décoller... mais avait encore très bonne tenue !
La seconde est encore mieux plus légère et surtout sans PFC (produits chimiques perfluorés cela est important pour moi. Je l'utilise pour la marche nordique et je suis parfaitement protégée. Produits de très bonne qualité !

Not waterproof brand new

I’m super disappointed that for such an expensive jacket it didn’t come waterproof. On the first wear in light rain it started to look discoloured as rain soaked in. Upon reaching out to Arc’teryx service they said it must have lost its DWR in storage at the factory and to retreat it. I have many Goretex jackets and am used to treating them after wear but never on the first time. It looked horrible on after it fully discoloured in random patches all over the jacket. That feels crazy for such an expensive jacket and not something I’ve experienced with any of my other jackets from Arc’teryx.

I bought the Beta in a large, even though I’m usually a medium, based on other reviews as I wanted it a bit big. It is perfect and fits wonderfully over my Atom hoodie, or a heavy fleece if layering. This is a great jacket for hiking and any time a water/wind resistant jacket is needed.

I bought this jacket before heading off on a long multi-day trek in the Scottish Highlands. There were plenty of days hiking in cold, rainy weather, so I needed a super lightweight, reliable, completely waterproof and breathable jacket to help get me through many 10-hour days of hiking on the trails in changeable weather. This jacket was perfect! It never let me down. Not once. I kept anticipating a leak, but I was bone dry every single day. And I never got that clammy feeling either. For me, the jacket is worth every single penny. The fit is perfect as well. I'm 5'5 and a curvy 128 lbs. I bought a size Med in the beautiful Black Sapphire color (love it!) and the fit is absolutely great. It's not tight and it allows for layering underneath, including wearing a slimmer down jacket or vest on colder days. I can't say enough good things about this Gortex packable shell.

Hooray for PFC-free!

I am so stoked that Arcteryx is now using PFC-free Goretex - an environmental and personal health necessity in my opinion - and the Arcteryx quality I count on remains. I love the interstellar color, it's such a fun and pretty shade that still feels neutral enough to pair with anything. After wearing a size medium Arcteryx rain shell for many years, I decided to size up to a large this time around so that I can comfortably fit my bulky sweaters underneath for prime PNW layering. It's definitely a bit oversized, but it's a much more comfortable fit for layering.

Great fit & packability but I was disappointed to see it soaked through on my first rainy hike. I was much happier with my original Zeta that lasted years before I noticed the gore-tex degrading.

This year, we updated the jacket with a new GORE-TEX material called ePE that is 100% PFAS free. As a result, you may notice the face fabric “wetting out” slightly faster in jackets made with GORE-TEX ePE materials. However, you can rest assured that this does not affect the waterproofing of the internal GORE-TEX membrane itself. I've been using this jacket mainly for hiking and walking the dog. Keeps me very dry in the rain and I really appreciate the pit zips for venting. The material is weightless and comfortable, and the fit is classic. I am obsessed with the colour Tatsu and highly recommend purchasing it.
