The gea bag I needed

Simple and holds structure. I needed a bag for all my MTB gear, one that I could just throw everything into, especially if im in a hurry. The single zip compartment on the tongue of the pack is excellent for those smaller items, such as snacks or a wallet. I love the tough outer material, you can toss this bag around and it'll get scrapes but wont easily tear or snag on tough surfaces. The shape is comfortable for short trips.

A masterclass in functional simplicity.

I needed a relatively compact duffel bag for short trips and lugging my biking gear, originally I bought the Patagonia Black Hole 40L, but in the end I returned it as I didn't like the new revised fabric or the amount of straps, there was just too much going on which overcomplicated the carrying and made it somewhat uncomfortable.
Enter the Carrier 40 Duffle.
Honestly I was on the fence for quite some time about buying this as £220 is a lot of money for what is essentially a large sack. In the hand it is great though, the simplicity of it is brilliant, the shape is perfect, zips all robust and easy to open/close, the fabric is beautiful (which also looks great covered in a bit of dust and debris), the internal pocket is well placed and easy to access and the handles at either end are solid and in just the right places.
It just feels really well thought out.
If I could change just one thing I'd add another couple of grab handles either side for another carrying option but I can see why they decided not to include these.
Overall I'm very happy with it and I'm really glad I bought it.

A sturdy pack for years to come.

A clear five-star product so far. I have used it for several trips, and it just works for me. I love the simplicity and strong build of the duffel. I was looking at several different options, but kept coming back to the Carrier 40. When using it mainly for clothes, like I have mostly done, or any other smaller items, I would recommend using packing cubes of some kind, as they help to keep things organised. The bag is of perfect size for cabin luggage in most European airlines, and it is easily 1-1,5 kilos lighter than regular roller cabin bags that I used to use. It is also very spacious. The bag material is quite "coarse", so when carrying it on your back for a longer period, it might induce some pilling of the jacket/shirt due to rubbing, but this depends on the type of fabric worn. I experienced this with some cotton/synthetic blend shirt.
I was a bit worried at first that the shoulder straps would be in the way when accessing the main compartment, but I quickly discovered that the straps can be flipped to the sides to be out of the way. I don't need any internal pockets myself, but can see that for many people they could be useful. The only addition I would appreciate is a chest strap.

Great for adventure and business travel!

This stylish and easy-to-carry backpack has become my go-to for long weekend trips. It has accompanied me on climbing and skiing adventures, enduring some rough handling along the way. Surprisingly, the pack can carry more than you might expect. I particularly appreciate the pocket inside the lid and the buckle feature that ensures all your valuables stay secure.
I'm pretty small and have a short torso, and I'm very pleased with how it carries, especially when full. Some 40L packs can fit very large and long on me, but this one has a nice balance in terms of width for us petite folks :)
My only wish is for more compartments inside for better organization. However, the wide zipper makes it easy to find items when the bag is fully open.

Unbeatable Duffle

Recently bought this duffle and I'm really happy with it. Not only is the material easy to clean (it got some mud on it when I was trekking and came right off, although I don't believe the bag to be fully waterproof as the zipper doesn't seal completely), but it seems quite durable. I will be using this for all my trips in the future, it's quite roomy inside so it fits a lot and will work great as a carry on. I absolutely love the boxy look of it when worn (and even when it's not being worn), and simple designs like these tend to be the best.

Just what I've been asking for..

I'm pretty hard on my gear and tend to use one thing for many uses. I've used my OG carrier duffel bag for several years now, I love it to death, that waxy Rip stop material has a sweet spot in my heart. This new material is nice, it looks like canvas, easy to clean, and is very durable which im impressed with. Overall construction of the bag is great, super simple. I have a couple qualms with it though.
1. Slightly worried about where the backpack attaches to the bag, its started to fray, eventually I imagine it'll rip and I know Arc will replace/repair it so I'm not that worried, but seems like something that could be revised in a new version.
2. The tapered zipper opening is nice and does open large, but occasionally when the bag is very full I find it hard to close, I'd love to see a straight boxy version where the zipper is more of a squared off shape with the whole bag, but thats just personal preference.
Amazing bag other than that, been great on carry on flights and at the crag.

Good duffel bag, but massively overpriced. I own many different duffel bags in different sizes and I have to say that the Arc'teryx 40L is one of the better ones. Overall the build quality is good, but not much better than other comparable models that are half the price. I love the simple design but I’m not a big fan of the huge Arc’teryx logo on the side.

I recently flew with my 40L from BC to Europe and have been loving it. Lightweight, perfect carry on size and the straps are super comfy - backpack status comfy. The stash pocket inside is a great place for secret storage of this precious documents :). Can’t wait for its next adventure!

I travel a lot for my job. This bag holds everything for a 4-day business trip including running shoes and workout clothes. It complements anything from suits to sweats and just gets the job done.
So far it has fit even the smallest airplanes and i no longer have to bother with a bulky shoulderbag or even worse a rolling piece of luggage:-)

Amazing Carry On Bag!

I own a Carrier Duffel from many years ago and love it, so when I saw these come up it was a no brainer. It packs down super small but is durable and sleek with quality zippers and buckles. I took it on a weeklong trip to Banff in November and was able to fit way more than expected. Love the upgrades to the backpack straps (compared to its previous version) and I'll be using it for everything from weekend trips to ski trips to kayak trips... this pack keeps things dry and organized!

Update: since my original post I've used this bag for a 2 week trip to Japan and 3 week trip to Europe and I'm obsessed. I checked the bag on the way home from Japan and it's so durable I had no concerns about it getting thrown around. Definitely a practice in traveling light but with the use of packing cubes it helps keep things organized.

My new 'go everywhere' travel duffle.

I only do carry on when I travel and this has become the ultimate pack. Nothing like cruising through the airport with this on my back and then stuffing it above my seat before takeoff. It holds so much and the straps are comfortable.
I'm a 5'3" petite woman and I didn't want something to overwhelm me. This pack does the trick. I also love that it comes in it's own stuff sack for easy storage when not in use.
If you're considering buying it - do yourself a favour and pull the trigger.
